June 20, 201016 yr Hmm, I think it's the instruments used, production, sometimes Win's voice. It also took me awhile to get used to his voice on Funeral.
June 20, 201016 yr I've never listened to Neon Bible, I'm still getting into Funeral. Arcade Fire pretty much got me into better music, back in 2005 or so when I saw Rebellion (Lies) on tv and it immediately became like my favourite song and I listened to it over and over on Youtube, and I heard Neighbourhood #3 and loved it but I just finally got Funeral and it has to grow on me. I think Wake Up is probably the most boring song on the album honestly, why do people love it so much?
June 20, 201016 yr listen to the live version with david bowie it's a very well written song, but i do understand what you mean. it's one of those where the music either gets you in it's grip or it doesn't.
June 20, 201016 yr 8 "Antichrist Television Blues" – 5:10 9 "Windowsill" – 4:16 it is rare i am ever in the mood to listen to these songs it's those tracks and ocean of noise that make the album for me. The last four tracks on Funeral are better than any stretch on Neon Bible, but I have an odd preference for neon bible as a whole.
June 20, 201016 yr I'm listening to Funeral and am definitely enjoying it...I think I may have a new obsession!
June 20, 201016 yr I like both, but I prefer Funeral. this post sums it up and is the correct opinion ;)
June 20, 201016 yr I like Funeral more even though I probably listened to Neon Bible more times. Funeral is a very solid album, honestly there's no song that I dislike, they're all great! Neon Bible however has songs that I tend to skip or haven't clicked (Antichrist Television Blues, Intervention, Black Wave). my favorites on each... Funeral: Neighborhood #3, Rebellion, Haiti, Neighborhood #4, Une Annee Sans Lumiere Neon Bible: The Well and the Lighthouse, Black Mirror, No Cars Go, My Body is a Cage, Ocean of Noise
June 20, 201016 yr Golly, I love The Well and the Lighthouse. One of my favorite tracks on Neon Bible, actually. The only ones I'm not too keen on are the aforementioned Windowsill and ATB. That said, Funeral is the superior album, especially since there are no tracks on there that I'm not too keen on. Funeral is pretty much a masterpiece the whole way through, and while the tracks work just as well as standalone, the way the album flows flawlessly from one to the next is stellar.
June 20, 201016 yr After listening to 'Funeral' ONCE through, every song tops 'Keep the car running' imo! I really enjoyed it :D

June 20, 201016 yr After listening to 'Funeral' ONCE through, every song tops 'Keep the car running' imo! I really enjoyed it :D It's off topic, but I do love "Keep the Car Running."
June 20, 201016 yr It's off topic, but I do love "Keep the Car Running." it's pretty good but it could have been written by quite a few bands funeral is relatively unique to them alone
June 20, 201016 yr Both albums are great, but I like Funeral better since it's the one that got me into Arcade Fire, and its songs make me feel way more emotional :nice:
June 20, 201016 yr Author Are there any songs on Neon Bible that reach the emotional peaks of Wake Up and/or Haiti for you listeners?
June 21, 201016 yr Are there any songs on Neon Bible that reach the emotional peaks of Wake Up and/or Haiti for you listeners? No Cars Go and Wake Up are my favorite Arcade Fire songs. No Cars Go obviously isn't as epic, but I just like it. I don't know if you'd categorize it as a song from Neon Bible or not.
June 21, 201016 yr I prefer Funeral by the smallest of margins. While there aren't any songs on either album that I don't like, I think that overall the Funeral tracks are a little stronger. Also Funeral contains my favourite songs including Haiti. On Neon Bible I find songs like The Well and the Lighthouse and Windowsill to be a little lacking in awesomeness. Funeral 9.5 Neon Bible 8.7 This.
June 21, 201016 yr Author No Cars Go and Wake Up are my favorite Arcade Fire songs. No Cars Go obviously isn't as epic, but I just like it. I don't know if you'd categorize it as a song from Neon Bible or not. Yeah that is a pretty grey song. I personally consider it as being from the EP like when I first heard it.
June 21, 201016 yr Are there any songs on Neon Bible that reach the emotional peaks of Wake Up and/or Haiti for you listeners? My Body is a Cage... the build up of the song is quite intense. Also The Well and the Lighthouse... but I'm a sucker for strings so...
June 21, 201016 yr I prefer Neon Bible, to be honest. I still think of Funeral being a 'better' album
