The U2 haters can go jump off a bridge. U2 has helped shape most music that people around here like.

I'd be for it, though yeah, having more than seven albums requires more than a single week (which is why Radiohead Week worked out so well).

My only fear is that it would lead to people creating weeks for every other darn band out there.

Well we could have two albums a day? Post vast amount of fantastic videos, talk about their incredible tours? Now I don't know how he did it, but Briggins did a very professional job of Radiohead week which was an immense success despite the fact I don't care for them so I always look to him at organising it. Heck I'd do How To Dismantle And Atomic Bomb if no one wants it!

I wouldn't mind helping organizing this.

Although I will be away for the next week.

We could do

Day 1 - Boy - October

Day 2 - War - Unforgettable Fire

Day 3 - The Joshua Tree - Rattle & Hum

Day 4 - Achtung Baby - Zooropa

Day 5 - Passengers - Pop

Day 6 - All That You Can't Leave Behind - How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb

Day 7 - No Line on the Horizon

I think those are pretty logical pairings. I threw in Passengers because it is pretty much a U2 album. Also I think having ATYCLB paired with HTDAAB will fit better than ATYCLB with Pop.

Sure can do Passengers. Also yeah I agree with you about ATYCLB and Atomic Bomb.

It'd also be a great idea to give a day to their live tours or their bery big, groundbreaking ones. I don't have a clue when it'd happen because it seems Muse and Beatles weeks are being organised but hey - it's a celebration of some great bands. This one should be scheduled just after the second Radiohead week though. My personal preference would be to write about Achtung Baby and Zooropa and if not I'd be more than happy to write an article about their tours. I enjoyed contributing to the 2009 Coldplay Review so I'd enjoy this one even more. It'd be a great idea. There's 30 years of material to talk about!

Don't worry, it is. Muse Week won't be done until after U2 Week is completed.

i like the sound of this. but a week sounds a little rushed...........

Week and a half?

I wouldn't mind helping organizing this.

Although I will be away for the next week.

I'm in, I can do all of the work up to Achtung Baby if you want, although I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do.

Right guys I think it's time to start putting your names down for which album you want to review. I'll put myself forward to do Pop myself but I'm more than happy to let someone else do it if they PM me. Personally don't think we should have Original Soundtracks 1 seeing as it's not part of their official discography. Probably better to put it in a 'B Sides/Side Project' article.

First come, first serve basis.

I would like to do the HOW TO DISMANTLE AN ATOMIC BOMB from around 2005 because that was the time when I got interested in BONO and through him in U2.

And I know the history behind some of the songs via the Danish translation of the book "U2 by U2". I also sent a PM about it to you, howyousawtheworld.

i'm up for it...tho i'm not quite sure what i'm meant to contribute beyond an album review. never taken part in any of these band weeks before...

& i'd like dibs on The Joshua Tree, if that's fine or still available.

it's the U2 album that pretty got me hooked on U2, though I only got round to owning the actual physical album recently (the re-released/remastered one). :shame:

I'm up for any week, but I do love Achtung Baby.

Okay

No Line On The Horizon

U2 Live article

If that's fine for you lot. Obviously still waiting for October, War, Rattle and Hum, ATYCLB and NLOTH. Want to throw in a special U2 Live article decicated to some of their best tours and live shows down the years, possibly on the same day as Pop or No Line On The Horizon. For the format - easy. Just look at the Radiohead weeks posts which are very good!

Would the week starting 6th September be alright starting with

Day 1 - Boy/October

Day 2 - War/The Unforgettable Fire

Day 3 - The Joshua Tree/Rattle and Hum

If you'd rather not to Pop and do Zooropa instead I'd trade with you. I don't have a problem switching so long as I get to do either one of those
