August 14, 201015 yr Hi! I'm Finny, named after the character from A Separate Peace by John Knowles. Any fans? Anyways, my big love is reading. I love Les Misérables, Catcher in the Rye, The Book Thief and one of my very favorites, Harry Potter. I'm obsessed with Harry Potter. I spend my free time reading Harry Potter fanfiction, looking at Harry Potter fanart, discussing the books and fandom and listening to Harry Potter music (When I'm not listening to Coldplay). Wizard rock! Anyone heard it? Even just heard of it? Some of my favorites are Ministry of Magic, Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls and The Mudbloods. Honestly, ask me about it and I will shower you with links to some of the really nice songs. You all need to listen to End of an Era by OBATR because that song...it makes me sob like a baby after hearing it a million times. It's about the end of canon. Now despite the fact that I've been a fan of Coldplay for quite some time now it never occurred to me to actually talk (well, type. :P) about my obsession. It's weird because I've been doing it for years with Harry Potter, but what can I say? I never realized forums existed for music too. But I have rectified that situation and I'm here now!
August 14, 201015 yr Author I started reading Catcher In the Rye :awesome: Welcome to Coldplaying How are you liking it? Holden's a difficult character. Some days I like him and some days I cannot stand him, but what I always love is his voice. To me it's really not worth writing in the first person unless you give your character a fantastic voice as Salinger did.

August 15, 201015 yr Author Welcome Finny! Gah, I have to read the Book Thief for my summer reading. :disappointed: It's actually really good, so it shouldn't be too bad. My poor friend has to read Anna Karenina. Those big Russian books intimidate me.
August 16, 201015 yr It's actually really good, so it shouldn't be too bad. My poor friend has to read Anna Karenina. Those big Russian books intimidate me. I finished it already. :P Quick read despite being over 500 pages. It was just meh.
August 16, 201015 yr Author I finished it already. :P Quick read despite being over 500 pages. It was just meh. Ah well. To each his own. And thanks for the warm welcome, guys. Much appreciated.
August 20, 201015 yr Author Thanks! I'm really liking it here already. One thing I like is that you guys aren't intimidating. What I mean to say is that you just seem normal, not super smart folks who know so much more about everything than I do (though you probably know a lot more than me about certain things, namely Coldplay, which I always type as Coldpaly by accident. I'm a bit of a newbie to the band, so forgive any ignorance on my part.). I mean, the folks over at the forum for Les Misérables, Abaissé, are so much smarter than I am that it frightens me. They actually do literary analysis. And while fun to read, I don't know enough about history or "the brick" (as we like to call Les Misérables) to participate. This isn't to say you guys are stupid, it's just that it's a lot easier for one to chat about a band than a really intimidating book like Les Misérables, at least in my opinion. Coldplay, while good music, isn't as deep as Victor Hugo. But most things in this world aren't, so it's nothing against them. :)
August 20, 201015 yr Author Yeah I know it probably sounds a bit like saying you guys aren't smart, but I'm just saying you're at my own level. Sorry. I do mean it as a compliment, though it could be construed as an insult.
August 20, 201015 yr I think what you mean is that we don't bragg about how much we know about Coldplay, or make fun or push away people who don't know much about them. Because surely we know, infact a bit too much, we even know where they live and what they smell like.
