Okay, I have a technical question, hopefully it's not a stupid one.

Say someone needs to "report" a post. However, right after the post is reported, the person who made the post edits it (so it no longer looks report-worthy). Does the report show the original post, or the edited (current) post?

I'm happy you guys are "Global Mods' :nice:

But I don't get what the big huge like change was with the actual Coldplaying site...:uhoh:

changes to the site will be taking place a bit later as the release of LP5 approaches closer.. :) stay tuned!!!!

So, mods, would you consider posting a lot "spamming" or do you mean the spamming like "BUY THESE NEW APPLE IPHONES"?

yes, like Dave said.. more the latter but, BUT normal posts that answer every single thread here and there and everywhere could possibly fall under that category as well... :P

-As for the new guidelines and rules.. I am happy to see such a great response from all of you... major props go out to Anna, who in my opinion, really stepped up and helped out majorly in the 'decision making' process by being our 'gracious host' during our 'time off' ;)

I look forward to working with all the 'globals' and will work harder to ensure Coldplaying stays a happy and safe place for we Coldplayers!! :nice:

-suddenly this board feels all warm and fuzzy... feels good to be back

Yes, it does feel good to be back!

And it was a pleasure to have you as my "guests"

We'd never have gotten this done so fast with emails I think. :uhoh:

Have a nice evening everyone, see you tomorrow!

lol was that intentional?? the double post? Because I literally LOL'd here... cute! :P

I don't mean anything specifically... but spamming isn't really limited to 'ads'.. I guess is what I am trying to say:confused:

ok... going now :escaping:

I just woke up and my head's still fuzzy about the whole terms thing. Can someone please explain the changes to me in layman's language?

And oh another thing. Are the changes : Global mods (someone pointed it out as environmental friendly, I agree. :wacky:) have more power now? They're in charge of banning and stuff? As for the admin, the admin's control has dropped and more responsibility to the hands of the global mods?

:dizzy:

But thanks guys, for the hard work. Even to Ian.

May this place be a better place. LOL sounds so holy.

Admins still have the same powers but they have delegated more of the authority to the global mods.

Global mods can now ban people other than for being a spambot, they can issue warnings, and they are your first point of contact for issues you might need to raise.

As you can imagine, Ian's PM inbox gets battered with messages. Now he has Sam, as well as his full time job & the site to run, his time to deal with things is more limited.

  • 1 month later...

OK I didn't think it would quite come to this but as wonderful as The Global Mods (aka just mods) are shouldn't we have some form of accountability for what they do?

Mimi removed a topic where Mark posted pictures of himself outside Chris Martins house, and I wasn't the only one who was like WTF. Now members can decide what topics stay or go just because it may slightly displease them?

And tonight Dargarius removes a topic where I simply quoted a bunch of Mark posts on the basis that it had 'nothing to add to the discussion'- which equals that one post should lead to the removal of an entire topic.

So where do we bring this up? I've talked to different mods privately other then those two (Because I don't want to talk to them but it seems I now have to) and nothing gets done.

It was a Mark Megamix, but it was of Lady Gaga and not Bieber (so it's the latest one).

I made a thread, simply quoting all of Marks posts.

To me it's comical, not sure if everyone gets it (I'd understand if you don't) but to me its so hilarious seeing someone re-post the same naturally biased opinion about someone (Gaga/Bieber) over, and over, and over. It's also very sad.

What forum rule did I break? Hell if I know. I also don't know who deleted the entire thread (Despite me only making one post) because I've contacted mods about it and have got no conclusion. One claimed the other one probably deleted it, I took this as gospel (stupidly) and made an un-offensive yet detailed PM message to the 2nd mod to show my concerns over not just this incident but how the rules work and who makes off-the-cuff decisions to remove threads/posts that aren't even debatable in terms of how offensive they.

Although I never swore I will admit I sent a pretty hot headed PM, but I didn't stray too far from the point and made my concerns very clear, and the first line of the response:

"What the hell are you on about Reilly".

I don't exactly expect to be greeted like "Hi Reilz! Soz about this..." after the PM I sent, but I expect a fucking answer! The mod didn't tell me who did delete it, told me to stop accusing them for things they apparently haven't done, and when I replied asking to know who deleted it and why they are allowed to do so (Also I did apologise) I haven't gotten a response since.

So now I've corresponded with 2 mods, the first agreed with me that this seems a bit fucked up, wasn't sure why it was deleted, apparently didn't know who deleted, and even agreed with me that the Global Mod system may not be working. The 2nd mod didn't care whatsoever about the way the system works, they just simply cared that it wasn't them who deleted it, and showed no sign of trying to find out for me, as well as not giving any sort of idea as to when I will know or how they can get back to me. They have not responded to my PM asking who did delete the thread (And to be honest considering the character of that moderator I wouldn't be surprised if they were lieing about not deleting the thread).

So basically neither of them cared.

It's so hard to get an answer out of a moderator, it's like "We'll discuss this and get back to you" and they don't. I still haven't received a response as to why I was inexplicably banned (Without warning) even if it was Ian's decision and not the Global Mods, but apparently they had agreed weeks before I was notified that I should be un-banned, but when I found out it still took a few days to un-ban my IP.

Initially it was such a mess I eventually told a mod "Yknow what I dont care just send a brief email explaining some made up crap about why this all happened and I'll just ignore it" but last night just pissed me off more, so I won't be ignoring anything.

I think it's good they discuss things before acting but in this case there wasn't really a discussion. A mod didn't know the thread was removed until today which shows it wasn't a decision taken by all the mods.

Removing a thread just because someone quoted another person is stupid in my opinion. Even if there was any offensive post (and in that particular thread there wasn't, it was just quoting), mods can delete posts without deleting the whole thread where lots of people posted. As I said earlier this is disrespectful for the other people who contributed to the thread. :blank:

just my two cents, I'm not attacking anyone, but the sames rules should apply for everyone.

I just don't get that impression when I speak with mods, it's more of a case of getting rid of the complaint then actually facing up to it.

I've been a mod before, and things were clear. We had rules, if there were any need to debate whether a thread or post should be deleted then you would need the approval of 2 other mods to do so, only in extreme situations would you dare to delete a thread that was clearly unsuitable (Which was rare, porn, racism etc).

To delete/remove a thread which is simply quoting another members posts without consulting anyone is totally nuts. If anything it's debatable why you would feel the need to remove the topic, nevermind debating whether or not you'd keep it.
