Hey guys, this is from us, the new Global Moderators!

Hey guys and welcome back!

I'm posting this on behalf of all of us, the new "old" team (with a shiny new user title).

As you've seen in Ian's announcement there are some changes now on how the board is run.

The reason the board was down for all this time was because we needed time to come up with the new forum guidelines Ian told you about.

We all felt it was necessary to make them less vague and cover things that are important when you use this forum and update it with things that need to be addressed in today's online world.

The average user shouldn't be affected by these new guidelines, so please don't be scared when you see the long text :)

It is important however that you read it all because - like Ian said - continuing posting on the forum means automatically that you agree with what is written there.

We'll be your new people to contact if there are any questions or problems.

We'll try our best to keep this site a friendly and nice place to spent time at, promised!

It's all new for us however so please don't be too hard on us if there should be little slips in the beginning.

Camu, Min, Dave, Julia, Ren, Viri, Mich, Anna and Angie

2. Your use of the Coldplaying messageboard forums

a) Posting on the Coldplaying messageboard signifies that you are in total agreement to the terms contained here within. If you disagree with any of these terms, then please do not use this messageboard. If you use the messageboard and do not agree to these terms we will not be held responsible.

b) The Coldplaying messageboard is a public forum widely accessible on the internet. You use the Coldplaying messageboard at your own risk. In any online forum it is not possible to be sure that other users are who they say they are, know what they say they know, or are affiliated with whom they say they are affiliated.

c) Before you post any information, consider that what you post will not only appear on our forum, but may also come up in searches and on external search engines. If you do not wish to make a piece of information public knowledge, do not post it.

d) Do not post your own or anyone else's personal, real-life information such as (but not limited to) home addresses and home phone numbers. This also extends to static information in your signatures and profiles including links to personal accounts on social networking sites. Do not demand of or continually pressure other users for personal information.

e) While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts, otherwise you risk having your posting privileges removed. If you have a dispute with another member, please contact a moderator or report the post in question.

f) Vulgar language and inappropriate content is not allowed and will be removed. Attempts to circumvent the word censoring of the community software also violate this guideline. Inappropriate content includes any confidential or potentially embarrassing information about yourself or anyone else. Posting someone else's confidential information may result in the removal of your posting privileges on this messageboard without notice.

g) Advertising, spamming and trolling (purposefully antagonizing other people) is not allowed. This includes using the forum, email, visitor messages, blog comments, picture comments and private message systems.

h) Creating threads or posts that question or reference administrative and moderating decisions or potential administrative and moderative decisions (inlcuding, but not restricted to, warnings, removal of posting privileges and bannings) are not permitted.

i) Freedom-of-speech rights do not extend to privately owned websites, such as this one. Membership and posting on the Coldplaying messageboard is a privilege, not a right.

j) Recreating a thread or post that has been closed or removed by a Global Moderator or Administrator is prohibited.

k) The use of the Ignore feature is recommended for removing other members' viewable post contents (that may or may not be a violation of the forum rules). Please make use of this via your User Control Panel if you feel it necessary to do so.

3. Your account

a) Each member is allowed one login account. Registering with multiple accounts is not allowed. We are and will continue to monitor multiple account users.

b) If you would like to change your username, please contact an administrator and we can do it for you while you can keep all of your profile data, posts and other content.

c) We know that people will have to leave our community (of their own freewill or otherwise) from time to time and to that end we do not delete accounts, posts, or other content posted on our community. All content is granted to us with perpetual electronic publishing rights because any content posted on this community becomes a part of the community, even if you no longer are.

d) You may request to a moderator that an item is removed at any time, but will we decide when and if to remove content from our community. If you wish to be no longer identified with our community, we will be glad to close your account and alter your profile information to remove all identifying charateristics. After account closure, you will no longer be able to participate in the community.

e) Account bans are enacted when a user grossly violates forum rules. While they are rarely executed, they are done with the community’s interest in mind. Attempts to bypass a ban are deemed to be harassing behaviour and may result in your ISP being contact with full evidence of your actions, IP addresses, email addresses, post content and other information deemed necessary, in order to prevent a reoccurrance.

4. Administrators and Global Moderators

a) Global Moderators & Administrators have the final say on decisions made and will be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not constitute violation of forum rules.

b) If you encounter a problem with another registered user, you may make a complaint to a Global Moderator directly but complaints must not be posted publicly on the forums.

d) We reserve the right to remove offensive posts without notice.

5. Private communication

a) Private communication (private messages, emails) between registered members and the moderators/administrators of the forum is not to be made public on these forums or by any other venue. You are not permitted to publicize any private correspondence received from any of the aforementioned.

6. Inappropriate material

The Administrators and Global Moderators may, but shall have no obligation to, remove materials that we determine in its sole discretion are unlawful, fraudulent, threatening, libelous, defamatory, obscene or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate, or infringe or violate any party's intellectual property or other proprietary rights.

7. General

a) These rules apply to previously registered members and new members.

b) If a registered member violates our forum rules and/or shows a disregard for them, our staff, and our community, they run the risk of losing their account.

c) While these rules cover most common situations, they cannot anticipate everything, and the rules here are not an exhaustive list and may not address all issues. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure these forums are not disrupted or abused in any way.

d) It is the administrators' and global moderators' right to determine what action is deemed appropriate. These rules are here to give you a legitimate expectation of how the forum runs, but don't bind us.

e) We reserve the right to update and modify these rules as the needs of the community dictate to ensure the smooth operation of this community.

That's some pretty serious stuff. :surprised:

I think the Global Mod thing is great, congrats guys! :D

But I'm with Nicole, I read Ian's announcement and I don't really know what the changes are, besides the global mod thing.

Some of the functions that only Ian could do will now be done by the Global Mods so things will be handled timely and not esculate into madness. :laugh3:

Hi!
We'll be your new people to contact if there are any questions or problems.

So basically Ian will have more free time and we'll be responsible for the frontline running of the board as a group. :nice:

Nice job getting things back up and running and establishing the new guidelines. I'm noticing some slight lag, but that will probably smooth out soon. And congrats to the "global mods" and their new powers! Use them wisely but be firm. ;)

(I was actually kinda worried that you guys would be establishing a penalty/infraction system like on a few other forums I visit. Glad you didn't, as it creates tension between members and staff.)

Guest howyousawtheworld

Good to see much stricter rules in place. For example there was something incredibly pathetic about banned users coming back on and creating a different profile.
