British teenager banned from America for life after sending Barack Obama abusive email

You'd think our gubbmint would have more pressing matters.

I would really like to see this e-mail to see what kind of "threat" would warrant this. Seems a bit silly on the surface. I didn't realize you could e-mail the President (even indirectly); I suppose they get hundreds, maybe even thousands of e-mails each day, and the people that do send e-mails are likely doing so to complain about something anyway, so most of the e-mails they receive are negative to some degree. And they isolate this guy? Puh-lease.

I'm not saying the punishment necessarily fits the "crime", but let's face it - it was an extremely stupid thing to do.:dozey:

Where did I say that? Do whatever you want with that piece of information.

If he had just insulted with him or disagreed with him I agree, this is far too severe but making threats, death or not is stupid as they take them very seriously.

Still it would suck to be banned from the US though it's a great Country.

I agree with this, except for the last part. :P

But this reminds me of when a border patrol guy had to shoot an illegal immigrant because he was pegging rocks at him, and then all the hate was towards the border patrol guy. Maybe he didn't have to shoot him (he could have tasered him if he was close enough. . . ), but the illegal immigrant shouldn't have done it in the first place. If you get the point I'm trying to show.

Exactly. The guy needs to take responsibility for his actions. Being drunk isn't an excuse.;)

Isn't George Michael banned from entering America too?

I don't think anybody is excusing him, he appears to be a buffoon.

The punishment, however, does not fit the crime.

Or that is how it appears, at least.

George Michael is banned from entering America coz hes gay:laugh3:

Imagine 10/15 years down the line, at a job interview:

Person giving interview:"Mr Angel, we will like to offer you this job, however it will require travelling to America once a month"

Mr Angel:"oh sorry, I did something stupid when I was a teenager and can't enter America"

Person giving interview: "You are the weakest link, goodbye"

Cos in 10/15 years that is what Anne Robinson will be doing :P
