When asked for an opinion. . .

Featured Replies

What do you say? Do you tend to be honest, or do you lie to be polite?

If someone asked you "Do I look good in this?" and they don't, would you be honest and say no or would you say yes to be a nice person?

I tend to be honest. :P

I tell them what I honestly think, and then a lot of times they rage at me.

Opinion is a matter of perspective, so I do make a point to be honest and say what I think, but I also try to see things from as many different points of view as possible before forming an opinion.

And there's a difference between being honest and unkind. For instance if they looked really bad in a dress, I would try to analyze why and say maybe the top half looks good, but the skirt isn't fitting quite right. A dress that flared out at the hips a bit more would look a lot more flattering on you. Or maybe something like that dress is great, I love the neckline, and it would fit you perfect if you went up one size. It usually goes over better than "it makes you look fat".

Well honesty is the way to go.

For example, when my friend ask me whether she looked nice or not and if I don't think she does, I'll put it this way: 'For me I'm not really a fan of the dress/shoes/hair/whatever on you. But if you are comfortable in it then go ahead'

Same goes to other questions. For me I can't force my opinion upon a person, but when they ask for it, I'll be honest, but I'll make sure I put it in a way that they know I'm not trying to bring them down. I think they deserve to know the truth, and also it's easier to build people's trust in that way.

It depends. For example, my friend thinks that she'll get into the University of Pennsylvania. I can't bring myself to tell her that I don't think she has a chance. :(

I'm honest

It depends on the person, but if it has to do with that question of someone wearing something I'd probably say that it looks okay

it depends on the person and the situation, but i'm honest most of the time (99,99%), may be even to the point to mess things

but for clothes question i use to:

a. if looks terrible say it.

b. excuse myself not giving an answer as "i'm no fashion expert".

c'mon who never lied to protect someone? or to keep a secret?

Yeah, this is what I tend to do. But then people still get mad at me. :bigcry:

it depends if it is someone i do not know that well i'll probably sugarcoat it but if it's someone i am close to i will bluntly tell them

It depends on the situation. Also whether I can be bothered risking offending people.

 What's a fanny attack?

I hate when old ladies ask me if their shoe fits or if it looks good. I hate lying but I don't wanna get fired for not selling enough.

if it's someone I'm not very close to I give a cold lie like:" yes... it is not very beautiful but it's ok"

but if it's my friends I'd be very honest

It depends on the situation and what the question is.

Oh. I really want to use that now.

My mom told my brother who has epilepsy "don't have a fit" :|

so we told her to say "don't have a fanny attack instead"

:wacky:
