Spieler's argument about using 'Crap' instead of 'Shit' is kinda weird to me because you can equally use either one, why not use 'Shit' instead of 'Crap' if you just prefer it? Makes no difference to me.

Well that's what I'm saying...makes no difference to me either, but I know a lot of people who get easily offended by one word and not the other.

I briefly skimmed the thread and probably mis-read. But I'm still right and you're still wrong.

its just lazy and there's no need. there are enough words out there to be able to express yourself without resorting to swear words.

plus, if you don't use swear words every day in general speech, when you do use them they have more of an effect because people you know don't expect it of you. same with getting angry & shouting, if you don't do it often it has a much better effect when you do.

probably partly why people find it so funny when Chris swears, because you don't expect it of him.

^^

really?? i have loads of live bootlegs of coldplay stretching right through their career and chris swears a good 10 to 15 times in each show. ok when he swore on that VLV demo track (aptly named the man who swears) it was a bit of surprise ,but during shows its totally expected.

I swear regularly and I don't mind it except if it's with diseases. Unfortunately that's quite common here. :dozey:

I swear a lot, but only when I'm around people whom I know are comfortable with swear words. And most of the times I just use 'fuck' or 'fucker'.

That's true. Some people find extremely difficult to write something without using swear words and that's bad especially when they need to write in more formal contexts. I think the language is something very important and it shows a lot about the kind of person you are.

Here you can basically say whatever you want just using one swear word, you can use it as verb, adjective, etc; It's funny but it shows how stupid some people is, they can't even find words to say what they want to say in their own language. I think it's important to avoid swear words especially if you are around little kids who are still learning new words every day so their vocabulary will be better.

Y'see if you're casual about swearing then it's not about 'resorting' to swear words, they are just words like any others.
