I hope this hasn't been posted before :D

Chris Martin is talking about the next album here :

And I got really excited  It sounds sooooo great!!!

CM: new album inspired by New York graffiti and the White Rose Movement

Chris Martin admits he’s been 'playing it a bit safe' for a large part of his life.

The Coldplay singer said the lyrics on the band’s next album are inspired by New York graffiti and the White Rose Movement – a group of German children in World War II who printed anti-Nazi flyers – and he admires people who speak out and express themselves in negative environments – admitting he’s not always done that himself.

He told Q Magazine: "I admire it. I’ve spent a lot of my life playing it a bit safe or conforming to something, even though I didn’t agree with it. So I have respect and admiration for people who don’t. The ideas come from graffiti art of the 70s in New York, where people were expressing themselves with paint. Then there was the White Rose Movement. Anybody who’s standing up for themselves. “It’s about being free to be yourself and to express yourself among negative surroundings. Being able to speak out or follow your passion, even if everybody seems against it."

The ‘Viva La Vida’ hitmakers are presently in the studio in London, recording their fifth album, and although they are still considering what the title will be, Chris gave a hit away. He added: "I don’t want to say about the title. It will probably begin with an ‘M’. Two words."

COLDPLAY have played it safe for years. Now they're ready to show their rebellious side. CHRIS MARTIN has revealed the inspiration behind the band's risky fifth album is old school American graffiti.

The frontman said: "The ideas come from New York graffiti art of the Seventies where people were expressing themselves with paint. I've spent a lot of my life playing it a bit safe or conforming to something, even though I didn't agree with it.

"So I have respect and admiration for people who don't. It's about being free to be yourself and to express yourself among negative surroundings. Being able to speak out or follow your passion, even if everybody seems against it."

Next you'll be hearing they bought bananas that aren't Fairtrade and have put recyclable plastics into their household rubbish. All this upfront talk sounds as though he's been spending a lot of time with best pal JAY-Z. The Jigga Man has spent years hitting back at his critics.

Chris, JONNY BUCKLAND, GUY BERRYMAN and WILL CHAMPION have had their fair share of doubters too - even though their last album, Viva La Vida, was the world's biggest-selling record in 2008. Chris is hardly at the age when he can get his free bus pass. But he is rushing to complete their new collection before they get too old.

The singer, 33, said: "We're hungry and very fired up. In five years we'll be in our late 30s. You have to have your best work done by then."

He's got a point. Just look at the drop in quality from rock legends THE ROLLING STONES and BOB DYLAN when they hit mid life.

Chris must have been holed up with legendary production wizard BRIAN ENO for a bit too long as his odd working methods have started to rub off on the frontman. He has been obsessing about the letters in the band's song titles the same way DAVID BECKHAM fusses over Coke cans in his fridge.

Chris said: "I'm trying to make sure there are three songs that start with the same letter. On the last album it was L. It might be U this time. One of them is Up With The Birds. It might be a duet, but we don't know who with yet."

After wife GWYNETH PALTROW recently nailed her Glee and Country Music Awards gigs, maybe he should get her involved?

Or perhaps the Jigga Man is lined up for a guest rap? Whoever it is, I'm looking forward to it.

'Hurts Like Heaven' and 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall'[/size]

Coldplay have narrowed their next album down to 15 songs and according to singer Chris Martin are ''trying some risky things'' with them.

Coldplay have narrowed their next album down to 15 songs and are trying "risky things" with them. 'The Scientist' rockers have narrowed the potential tracks for their fifth album down, but lead singer Chris Martin has imposed some strange rules on himself for how he plans to name them.

He told Q Magazine: "We're down to 15.I'm trying to make sure there are three songs that start with the same letter. On the last album it was 'L'. It might be 'U' this time. One of them is 'Up With The Birds'. It might be a duet, but we don't know who with yet. The other two might change."

Aside from song titles beginning with the letter U, Chris revealed there are tracks slated for inclusion on the album including 'Hurts Like Heaven' and 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall', which will likely be the album closer.

Describing the sound, Chris added that guitarist Jonny Buckland is coming into his own. He said: "'Hurts Like Heaven' is all Jonny. It only has two chords. The songs are group-y, its guitar-y. Johnny is coming out of his cocoon. We're just trying some risky things."

The singer is keen for the group to push themselves, as he feels they're battling against time to complete their best work. He added: "We're hungry and very fired up. In five years we'll be in our late 30s. You have to have your best work done my then."

Coldplay also announced this morning (25.11.10) they will release a festive track, 'Christmas Lights', on December 1.

Hmm...I like it. :)

Somehow I feel like the next new thread will be "Guess the name of 5th LP"

But this all sounds great, speaking out, saying what you think... I hope it will sound as great as Coldplay usually sounds.

Ohhh this news is so exciting!!! Thanks a lot!!!!!!!

Mother F*ckers :D

Suuuure

Let the speculation begin!!!!

Has a new thread already been created, for the title of the album? (I've always found it difficult to find new threads on this forum...there's a "new posts" category, but no "new threads" one...but I'm probably very useless at this! ;))

:thinking:Is this a correlation to playing in Germany ?

As South America influenced VLV- Germany has LP5.?

when is this edition of Q out? Or is it out already?

In a few days :) but nothing on Q website for now about the new issue... :dozey:

I like Mother F***** as a title  (hanging out a little too much with Jay-Z Chris??!)

Love the grafiti inspiration theme *artstreet lover* This sounds GOOD!!

Am I dreaming too much imagining an album cover made by Banksy...would be :bomb:
