December 11, 201015 yr I'm not bothering with a tree, nor am I having Turkey, in fact Christmas day will probably involve watching TV, some Chinese food and a bad hangover.

December 11, 201015 yr Sounds like it's gonna be fun... I don't particularly like Christmas, in fact I haven't enjoyed one Christmas since I was about 10, still at least I don't have to go to boring and pointless Chruch services anymore.

Do you not just treat it as a normal day then, and neither like it or dislike it, just live it and hope something nice happens? I'd find it hard to do that if I know I was supposed to be having fun. You should do something to cheer yourself up, plan something now.
December 11, 201015 yr I do give presents to people and all of that but I find Christmas very faulse as really it's a holiday for people to celebrate the birth of an important figure in thier Religion and I don't belive in that Religion, I just don't particularly like the whole Christmas thing much, I'm not miserable about it it just doesn't interest me.

Just use it as a time to see people and hang out. I'm pretty sure there aren't too many sane people who totally believe the whole Christianity thing word for word, if they have actually thought about it. Fortunately we've managed to distort it as far away from the bullshit it started off as as much as possible so it's a consumer thing, whilst still getting time off to be with loved ones. It's good for morale and the economy, nothing more haha. We all know Father Christmas is more important than Jesus.
December 11, 201015 yr It will be possible to plan an alternative Christmas I'm sure. Look into it now and see what you can do.

That's pretty much what I do, I just always end up going out on Christmas Eve though so I don't feel too good until the afternoon on Christmas Day, then I usually go and see friends, one thing I do like about Christmas Day is that eerie quietness everywhere it makes a change from the business of the weeks leading up to it.

Yeah, that is cool. I'm debating whether or not to go out Xmas eve or not. Cold, over priced, no taxis, busy and everyone is kind of annoying and talking about Xmas and you end up saying the same thing to about a hundred people. It's not as bad as New Year though. As if I want to stand around a load of people wishing them new year, having to stop what I'm doing at 12 and then cheering awkwardly and getting on with what I'm doing.

December 11, 201015 yr I'm going to a party which the tickets wern't particularly expensive for but I'm definatly going to avoid the cliched kiss your partner at midnight thing, that just irritates me, house parties can be good, I've always been reluctant to have one in case it got out of hand though.

But purposefully not kissing your girlfriend at midnight would be kind of awkward too.
December 11, 201015 yr But purposefully not kissing your girlfriend at midnight would be kind of awkward too. She will probably be too drunk to remember by then anyway:laugh3:.
December 11, 201015 yr Fake plastic tree, always, cause it lasts forever and the environment will be forever thankfull if you dont use a real tree for only 1 month.
December 11, 201015 yr We have fake tress because the smell plus the heat is not a nice thing (it's summer here). I think it looks very pretty and it can be used for many years
December 11, 201015 yr Just go into a forest and chop one down! like the other poster on here  haha yeah that is the best way to get a tree :awesome: my family do it too
December 11, 201015 yr hahahaha I voted real and today wnet to buy a fake one with my mum and I loooove it... Doesnt really look that fake.
December 11, 201015 yr haha yeah that is the best way to get a tree :awesome: my family do it too ahha we used to do the same.....I remember I used to love it as a child...awwwww there were so many things about christmas I used to love as a child...
December 11, 201015 yr That sounds nice :awesome: but we don't have those kinds of farms that sell you real Christmas trees in here :disappointed: or any farms that sell you real Christmas trees for that matter. If you want a real one, you have to kill a tree and well, you may plant another one to replace it, but you'll have to wait years for it to grow.Yeah that makes a pretty big difference. Christmas tree farms are a big business around here because most of our forests are mainly evergreen anyway. They ship trees all over North America. The search for a wild tree big enough to send to Boston as the Boston Christmas tree is a big tradition. (It's a thank-you for helping after the WW1 Halifax explosion which happened in December.)
December 11, 201015 yr My family has two artificial trees...we used to get a real one just for upstairs, but now we have two fake ones. I don't really care, because if it's fake my dad doesn't make me vacuum the needles every day. :P And if you miss the smell of a real tree, my mom has this candle that smells exactly like a real tree but better! :wacky:
December 11, 201015 yr And if you miss the smell of a real tree, my mom has this candle that smells exactly like a real tree but better! :wacky: I do not believe this is possible. A scented candle (as much as I love scented candles) cannot stand up to the heavenly but not overwhelming odor of a real tree. Sitting near/lying under a 7-foot beautifully lit, nice-smelling tree with Christmas carols playing in the background is a truly unique feeling.
December 11, 201015 yr I don't have one yet.. gonna get a real one. although there are a lot of tall nice ones out in mah yard.
December 12, 201015 yr haha, we never had a real christmas tree. It's ridiculous if a Filipino home has one. It's impossible. This year we have a different tree. It's my mom's idea to have a christmas tree out of (wooden)branches that she picked on the street (to her luck it is formed like that of a christmas tree), and covered it up with lots of cotton....
