Do you compare yourself to people of the same name?

Featured Replies

It is rare that I come across somebody called Greg or Gregory, not that it is a particularly rare name, but in my life I'd say I've spoken to about three or four Greg's. I am always annoyed when I do though, either thinking 'Damn, I'm not the best Greg in the room', or 'Damn, I've got the same name as that moron!'

Anybody else dislike people having their name and compare themselves to them?

I've never met anyone who has the same name as me :blank:

There's a girl in my class with the same name as me, spelled differently, and she's a real bitch. I don't think about it much, though.

My name (which is not really Iris, it's my second name) is not that common. Or actually it is but as a middle name. I don't remember meeting but two people with the same name and they were both quite much older than me. So no, I didn't really compare myself to them. But sometime in my class there were two girls with the same name and two guys with the same name plus some people with almost the same names and I remember I was glad that no one had the same name with me.

i've met really few people with my same name, in my whole life may be 3 or 4 people who are not family -my name is on another 2 or 3 relatives-, so i can't say i compare, though i remember when i was a kid around 4 years old i was watching a tv contest and i came asking my mom: "when i'll be old i'll be like her right?, we have same name", she gave me a weird sight and told me to not say stupid things.

not to mention when kids made jokes of my name due to a doll which had the same name when i was around 7.... it made me consider to change my name when i became adult.

also when i was a kid i did used to prejudge people with certain names due to i had bad experiences with people with the same name repeatedly, i don't do so any more as is plain childish, althought that 'theory' is proven yet right most of the times :|

I've already met a few boys with my name, but I've never met another girl:)

Same here, the other day I was staring at the window and the teacher yelled :"MICHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELE" I jumped from my place then I realized she was shouting at the other one! That was probaly one of the moments I was the most scared in my life.

I've met a ton of Kelseys, my name is pretty popular, but I don't think I've ever compared myself to them. I've known some real bitches with that name though.

I haven't met too many people with my name but when I do, I like to compare. I also compare myself with people of the same birthday.

There are lots of girls with my name, so it's not so unique, I don't really compare myself to them, but when I was a child I used to hate it if there was another girl with my name in the same class or group

edit: I do compare if we have the same birthday, though!

You know fictional characters personally?

Well, what I meant was, I don't know any real people with my name. My word choice was bad. I got 3 1/2 hours of sleep last night, so I'm not exactly 100% at the moment.

I've never met anyone with my name

Anette isn't very common or that rare.. duhrrgh.

But I met this one girl named Aneth, and another named Annette.

They were both sluts.

not really since Julia is a quite common name (I really like it though)....I think I compared myself once to a 2 years old girl though....she was crying (obviously for no reason) in front of our shop and her mum was saying "Juliaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.....JULIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA....."(just like my mum would have done it), a blond little girl....like really blonde just like I was at that age....it was so weird haha because she was like a copy of me when I was that age.....

so yeah I compared myself to a little girl....(I guess I am still a little girl deep inside haha):wacky:

that just remind me a same case, on my last year at high school i was coming home and i found a mom and a kid in the chair (dunno the word in english), the kid was like 2 years old and speaking all the time and the mother then called her 'do behave bea'... and i was :freak: kid have my name.

i think it was cute, though, plus i've been told i was like that kid, hehe.

There's 6 other people called Emma just in my year ( there's about 80 something of us in total )

so comparing myself to others would be silly.

Karen O > me

Hmm but not really, I don't compare myself to other Karens.

I share the same first name as Mr Crouch, Mr Capaldi, Mr Sellers and Mr Frampton which is pretty cool.

Also some other people in history who I'd rather not share my first name with like the Yorkshire ripper.

So no I never compare myself.

Don't forget a certain saint and that guy out of Go West!:P

Nope. I'm me, and comparing myself to someone else isn't going to change me. If that makes sense.
