Reilly
As a child living in Ontario we would sometimes literally have weeks of school off with the snow, well that's when we moved to the country, in Toronto we didn't miss much because everything was ploughed quickly. AND THIS IS WHERE I ALSO GREW UP MY PARENTS DIDNT DIVORCE OR ANYTHING WE JUST MOVED HOUSES WHEN I WAS

Megalomania
What area are you in? The fabulous New Jersey. :| :awesome: :P I wish we had snow days here, but I live in the south :bigcry: Hah! :snobby: :P Do you ever get snow? :uhoh: As a child living in Ontario we would sometimes literally have weeks of school off with the snow, well that's when we moved to the country, in Toronto we didn't miss much because everything was ploughed quickly. AND THIS IS WHERE I ALSO GREW UP MY PARENTS DIDNT DIVORCE OR ANYTHING WE JUST MOVED HOUSES WHEN I WAS 10 That's crazy. :uhoh: Weeks for snow? :anxious:
Megalomania
what on earth is a snow day too much snow for the buses to safely get around to pick up the kids so they just cancel school This. It's actually a "bad weather day", as it could be for an ice storm as well. They cancel school if they consider it unsafe for buses to be driving around in the weather. Ohemul
I wish we had those. If we did, we wouldn't have any school days in the winter.
Maneki
Monday: I wasn't at school, because i was ill. Tuesday: School. Wednesday: School. Thursday: School. Friday: School. We never get snow days, because everybody in my area is somehow used to the snow. :|
Technicolor Sparks
I had school every day this week. :disappointed: University doesn't cancel too often, but even back in high school and elementary they never cancelled no matter what! The only snow day I ever had was in kindergarten, and that was the day after the blizzards.
NumbersGirl
Well, I think it's more for liability reasons now. Some parents would whine, threaten to sue because their precious kids aren't 100% safe, blah blah blah. When I was in school we were lucky to have 1 snow day during the year. The only snow day I ever had was in kindergarten, and that was the day after the blizzards. That's the opposite of my school, they cancel before the snow gets here if they think it'll be bad! So one time they cancelled and we never even got any snow. Well, I think it's more for liability reasons now. Some parents would whine, threaten to sue because their precious kids aren't 100% safe, blah blah blah. When I was in school we were lucky to have 1 snow day during the year. I didn't think of that. You're probably right though. Although I've never had so many snow days as this year. . . usually just one, maybe 2 in the whole year. We got a whole lot more delayed openings though.
an angel
Hah! :snobby: :P Do you ever get snow? :uhoh: It usually only snows once or twice a year, and melts as soon as it hits the ground. Last year though, it snowed twice and both times it didn't melt when it hit the ground, and it was so beautiful. We got one snow day :wacky:
