An Amazing Time to Be a Coldplay Fan

Featured Replies

This really is an amazing time to be a Coldplay fan and for those of us who have a true love for this band I can't say enough just how lucky we are to be living through it. I have been a member of this board since 2003 and have gone through the pre album board hype three times now. Every little bit of news makes the anticipation even greater and I love every minute of it.

I love heading on to this site every day knowing that with every visit there is a chance I will see new song titles, magazine track descriptions, a tracklist, a release date, cover artwork... we are all right in the middle of it now. This is a feeling that future Coldplay fans (our kids, grandkids...) will never know.

They will have it all in their hands at once to discover in whatever time they want. They will never know the great anticipation of waiting for a new album or the rush of just hearing the slightest bit of news. We have waited though year in and year out... we will be able to say we were there when it was new and we earned it. For them it will be something that always was but for us it is something that will be. I for one would not have it any other way.

We are the great anticipators.

We are the original fans.

We are the here and now.

This is our time and this is our band. I look forward to the amazing conversations we will all have as we discover this new album both first and together. I feel lucky just watching it all unfold... this band in it's prime.

I'm not a Coldplay fan but I'm currently experiencing the same thing for the first time in my life, isn't it wonderful? :wacky:

the best time to wear a striped sweater be a Coldplay fan is all the time

but i do agree that this stage of anticipation is one of my favorite things ever :wacky:

I agree with ya 142%................ Can't wait for everything to start popping!!!!!!!!!

Are you kidding? You're not a Coldplay fan but have more than 100,000 posts in a Coldplay board?

~I'm a rebel~

I used to be a fan though.

I'm genuinely more excited for this Coldplay album than any of the previous. Where there was a dip in creativity with X&Y they bounced back really well with Viva La Vida which I feared would be dodgy. I think Viva has allowed them to open up all new types of musical doors from which we will experience from LP5.

*giant happy sigh*

YES I agree with everything you've said, I never actually thought about it in such a deep way, but being a coldplay fan at this time is really a privilege :wacky:

Remember, guys - Coldplay is for life, not just for new album releases (or Chris-mas)!

I met Coldplay just one year ago (actually i knew them since 2005, but not listen). I've became their big fan since 9-10 months. So, I don't know the feelings that 'waiting for news, song titles, release dates...' now i know it and getting exciting day by day. And I'm %100 agree with you :

Agreed. But the point of the post was that we are lucky to be able to witness this band's career first hand as it happens- and that includes new album releases. It only makes sense that the highest amount of excitement is going to come around the band's artistic landmarks.

Very well put Oldmuckers, I love how you articulated your post. I too have been a fan for a long time and share those exact sentiments. There is nothing better than listening to a brand new Coldplay album for the first time. I have even developed a routine where I have to turn all the lights off, lay on my bed and just listen from start to finish. I get waves of excitement throughout mixed with lots of wonderful emotions! This only happens with Coldplay's music.

I wonder, does anyone else do anything like that?

Me too. :awesome: With every CD I get.

I'm rather cheery about that, considering I missed them by a month on their VLV tour. :|

Technically, I can see them quite often as they last tour they did 2 shows at NJ (that weren't festivals), at least 2 shows in NY, and 2 shows (I think) in PA, all of which are within range for me. :awesome: :wacky:

I don't care if they come here or not. I'm surprised. :|

My mom would probably go without me har har har.

I wonder if I'll like them after LP5. :surprised:
