I think it's actually because he was mad at whoever was taking his picture. It's a very similar expression to the one he has in other (pap) pictures when he's with his family.

I thought that too. When he's with the band, he smiles because he doesn't mind, and knows it's part of his job. But when he's living his own life, he still expect his privacy, no matter how nice a guy he might be. Can't blame him.
