Ok, I am not sure if I am posting this at the right place but there's a song out here in India composed by (yeah, right!) by Pritam which is like a complete rip off Fix You.

It's got the same start, the same acoustic and just a bit toned down guitar riff at the end but it's clearly copied from Fix You.

I did write to Oracle asking whether they can do anything about it but I am not sure whether she will reply considering it's will be a legal issue of sorts. But I really want to bring this guy to justice because it's not the first time he's doing it.

 

Any suggestions?? Or Just the fact that the song is out here in India (a bit far) will let him get away with it?

I don't care if the song's dull or not but the progression and I think even the basic tempo and rhythm of the song's exactly the same. Just listen to the SAME piano bit in the beginning and yes, just mute the lyrics and focus on the background! It's THE SAME.

It does sounds a bit like Fix You. But not enorgh to I would say that they stole it.

It sounds just like it to me. The chords and the organ sound are exactly the same at the beginning.

 

The acoustic guitar that comes, the little piano melody after that and the electric guitar outro also are similar. Seems like they definitely were influenced by Coldplay on this...

Anyway back to the topic, yes it is a very basic song (And I didn't even criticise that, nothing wrong with basic songs they can have elements to make them amazing- Fix You has none of these so NOW I'm criticising it, let's get the straight here) and eventually at some point someone was going to make 2 similar sounding chords on an organ, and wow it also has an acoustic guitar, that must make it identical eh?

 

At the most this goes down as Fix You 'inspiring' the writer, not fraudulent.
