If you're borrowing a CD

Featured Replies

and it's been months since you took it out and haven't returned it, at what point do you just keep it and not bring up the fact that you still have it? I just realized I've had a CD I borrowed 8 months ago, for, yanno, 8 months, and I think the original owner's forgotten about it. Have I inherited it? Is it acceptable to just hold on to it? Or should I just make sure I ripped it and return it? Decisions, decisions.

I suspect the person concerned isn't that bothered, or they would have remembered and mentioned it.

I have borrowed a CD five months ago and I always forget to take it when I see my friend. I really don't know if she is still aware that I have this CD but I will give it back, one day...

Why don't you just give it back you thieving ****.

you should give it back

You may think they've forgotten about it, but there's also a good chance that they'd feel awkward about asking for it back. Some people are way too nice, and thieving ****s like you exploit the fact they were nice enough to let you have it in the first place and have to go even further out of greed.

Fwooaaar shame Sara, I thought you'd have better morals and I can't believe you're asking- at what point do you just keep it? The answer is: at no point! Of course, you will always know it's not yours and I don't get why some people just feel fine with doing things like that.

Yeah, okay. You're right, but I really am pretty sure he forgot about it because he's my teacher who hates me and wouldn't hesitate to ask for it back hahaha. But I'll just give it back on principle.

Yeah, okay. You're right, but I really am pretty sure he forgot about it

Hahahaha you really don't get it.

Dem kids.

You don't know the guy I'm talking about, he really wouldn't hesitate to ask about it....

I remember once how I borrowed CDs from my horn professor and had unintentionally kept them for almost two years. I ended up bringing them back to him because I knew they weren't mine, and he was like, ":wtf: Oh. OK. -puts CDs back on shelf-" It wasn't that big of a deal. It's probably best for you to just give them back to him.

That's stealing lulz.

But it did happen with a copy of Mean Girls :blank: I gave it back.

Ya give it back. They know. They remember.

My husband just recently had a game returned to him that his friend had for over a year. I occasionally heard him mention, "oh yeah, he's got that game of mine", but he never asked for it back. The only reason he got it back was because the guy was moving.

He shouldn't have to ask about it. It's not your cd so why would you want to keep it?

Yeah yeah okay everyone I get it, I just forgot about it and rediscovered it a day ago, I'll bring it back already :(

Unbelievable! Are you warped?

It's got nothing to do with whether the guy would hesitate to ask for it, the point that they might be too sheepish to ask for it was just an add-on, the main thing for yourself is that you're more then happy to keep something that isn't yours, not even giving it a 2nd thought. It's as if the fact he's forgotten has justified it as being fine. If he dropped a 50 dollar note in the hallway and didn't notice, would you pocket it? Honestly?

I don't know what you need to do, read a book on ethics or something.

I can't find my Yeah Yeah Yeahs album and don't know when I lost it. It happens.

They probably can't remember having that CD, as it's probably on their computer/Mp3 player.

Who listens to CDs these days anyway?

I do sometimes. :snobby:

Me too. My car plays CDs, it doesn't have a hookup for an MP3 player unfortunately.
