Will you listen to a released single before the album release?

Featured Replies

As often happens with bands, including Coldplay, sometime before the album is released, they release a single off of that album.

This could be at anytime, but I am thinking that I DON'T want to hear it when it comes out. I mean, Viva La Vida was such a well put together album, I really want to listen to their new album from start to finish without knowing what each song will bring.

So. How many people here would listen to a single that was released before the album? I just feel like I've waited so long, I could wait just a little bit longer to hear the album through and through as a completely new experience.

I will listen, but I won't pass any "judgement" until i hear it as part of the whole.

I mean...unless its just awesome lol

What are you going to do when it's on the radio? Run away?

I'm not with you...even if I tried not to listen to it- which I won't do- I would still end up hearing it somewhere...

^^Hahaha, Natascha!

Of course I'll listen to it. They will probably have the same thing like with Violet Hill! In the same time in the whole world.

Yeah I'd listen to it.

I can understand not wanting to read other people's opinions of the song before I listened to it though.

Mhmm, if they release a single it'll be quite hard not hear it, don't you think?

It will be everywhere.

Some people don't listen to 30sec previews and I can understand that (and it's something you can control). But avoiding a single might become a tough task. :P

I agree on the fact that an album shoukd be listened from the first to the last song as a single entity and not as random separated songs but if the first single is relased before the complete album I'll listen to it just because I'm too curious.

Yeah I'd listen to it.

That last part is something I'd probably want to avoid, at least until I get my own opinion clear, which may take quite a few listens :P. It would still be difficult, though.

i would listen to a single before the album was released; however, i wouldn't listen to the single if it was leaked before its release.

YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES:P

Of course I will listen to it, I can't wait!

of course, waiting for the album doesn't make you a better fan or something and I don't see the point in escaping from the radio and all that stuff.

Sure I will listen to it. Let's face it - you can't really escape from it, and it is the way the band wants us to discover the new era. And the whole development phase from the first single to the album release is so fascinating that it would be a shame to me to 'deny' some parts of it.

Of course I will, plus it's going to be everywhere.
