June 16, 201115 yr I voted with because the old lady who comes over at christmas and pee on the chair or the lady who owes him lunch money are very important as well. LOL. We need Chris balance out the wise one (Mr. Champion) I don't know the story of the lady who owes him lunch money...where is that from ?
June 16, 201115 yr Well Chris is a member of the band, so I say all members should be there. I don't care either way, but Chris does give funny interviews, except for when he walks out!
June 16, 201115 yr And thankfully Will was there to pick up the pieces! Otherwise that presenter would probably just have filled the time with waffle about how crap Coldplay are!
June 16, 201115 yr He always butts in! I can't remember how many times I've sat and thought "Shut up, Chris, let him finish" This, and I basically agree with everything else Alison's said.
June 16, 201115 yr I love Chris' randomness, and his wit, I don't care that much about information, because I'm sure we'll get the information when we need it :nice: I was going to say the same. :nice:
June 16, 201115 yr Without, There's times when he rambles on about the album and then a few months later in another interview he says something completely different and then he goes on about cereal or some shit. But yeah there are some good interviews out there, but atm I just want album news.
June 16, 201115 yr I voted with Chris. Yes we get more information without him so they're good when we're all waiting on news but otherwise I don't look forward to them as much when they don't involve Chris. I know I'm gonna get lynched, but I find Guy SO boring to listen to As well as being hilarious and charming I find Chris fascinating...he can be so closed off, but other times so candid and open...and whilst that means often you don't know what you're getting with an interview but that's kind of the fun of it.
June 16, 201115 yr Definitely with Chris :-) Have they actually ever revealed any important information in an interview first? I mean dates and titles? I did not follow all the build-up for Viva, so I don't know. But I have a feeling it is always on their website first anyway.
June 16, 201115 yr I know I'm gonna get lynched, but I find Guy SO boring to listen to Mich :whip: joking, but I loooove his accent, he could talk about anything and I would be all awwww listening to him :shy: I don't even consider interviews with Chris real interviews...it's just random chat, and half of the times I don't get his jokes as they don't mean anything in Italian, I probaly don't get english humour :|
June 16, 201115 yr I like interviews with or without Chris in different ways. Without : you get (most the time) the information you want really simply and you are able to hear the quiet ones (oh hi Jonny & Guy). With : you're going to laugh a lot but you're not really going to learn anything and you most certainly won't be able to really hear the others. In any way, when you have to talk for an hour but don't really have anything to say, it always becomes boring in the end. And no matter who does the interview. Like yesterday. In the end, I don't know if you should vote with or without Chris :blank:
June 16, 201115 yr It is always more fun with Chris, but I must admit, I laughed yesterday a lot about the image of the boys sitting with sewing-machines and making the clothes. :laugh3:
June 16, 201115 yr Sooooorry, the accent does nothing for me and for the most part you just don't get any of his personality coming through... And Chris does give real answers, The South Bank Show, 60 Minutes, The Hour, chats with Steve Lamacq, Ben Jones to name a few...it's not like he never answers any serious questions, because he does it's just that the moments when he's silly stick in your mind most...but that's what make him who he is. He wouldn't be such an engaging performer if he didn't have that element of crazy, self criticial, narcassism about him... Funny thing is I think Chris would agree that interviews are better without him, say what you like about him, he's always keen to include/mention/praise/divert attention to the other band members as often as he can...especially since for the most part they're quite happy to sit there and say nothing.
June 16, 201115 yr ^ I agree with everything there. Maybe I should vote with after all. (Guy has a nice voice...to put me to sleep. He's a bit too calm for the rest of the day)
June 16, 201115 yr it's not like he never answers any serious questions, because he does it's just that the moments when he's silly stick in your mind most yeah I don't rule this out, but I don't think any of the people who voted for "no Chris" think he never ever gives serious answers, me included of course. This post is what best describes my point of view as well (when I get his jokes and quotes of course :P). if it's information i want, without. if it's ridiculously awesome quotes i want, with. :P
June 16, 201115 yr I voted with: he's funny and entertaining. But yes he can go on and on about complete nonsense, but I think that's cute.
June 16, 201115 yr Author    I only just saw this thread!! Hilarious, thanks Ian! But I'm winning! :P  Seriously though, what they wanna tell they will tell, with or without Chris. Like others have said: With him it's funnier. And I love his voice. :wacky: /fangirlLooks like you won this one! :p :chris:
June 16, 201115 yr I voted with Chris. As well as being hilarious and charming I find Chris fascinating...he can be so closed off, but other times so candid and open...and whilst that means often you don't know what you're getting with an interview but that's kind of the fun of it. See, I used to find him charming... but I think it has worn off. He can be really closed off, like you said, very jaded - and while I understand why he might be like that, it doesn't make for an interesting interview. And a big pet peeve of mine when he is feeling upbeat, is how he apologises for everything and puts the band down. Don't apologise for being an incredibly successful artist, it's not humble, it's just annoying. And Chris does give real answers, The South Bank Show, 60 Minutes, The Hour, chats with Steve Lamacq, Ben Jones to name a few... This was an interesting point (I always find Miss Mich fascinating, even if I disagree with her ) Those interviews fall in to 2 catergories - pre-recorded ones (where they probably had loads of footage to pick the best bits from), and interviews with people he knows well, and respects and probably feels more comfortable with. And I understand why he's going to feel more at ease talking to Steve Lamacq than some random TV chat show host, but still, more of the others please.
June 16, 201115 yr Well like I said, I think he more than anyone would agree with that, more of the others. But the media only want to speak to him and W, G and J are (by their own admission) happy for the most part to let that happen. There was an interview from VLV era when he said something along the lines of "they make me do all the interviews and then get annoyed at me when I say something stupid" We hear from him so often that the things that make us laugh may start to grate...but who's to say that wouldn't happen if Jonny did every single interview? Even the person we love most in the (real) world can annoy us no end when we're around them too long. My point being, I'm not being all hyper defensive and denying the negative aspects to his personality, because sometimes he does act like a complete tit. But we have far, far more of an opportunity to see that in him than the others, who let's not forget, still maintain relative anonymity. At the end of the day you can't be the frontman, mouthpiece and main focus of one of the biggest bands in the world and not carry baggage from the pressure that comes with that... "My biggest wish is for Will to come out as flamboyantly homosexual and wear outrageous clothes and say outrageous things, partly just to see what it would look like, but because sometimes, you know....I need a little help"
June 16, 201115 yr I agree with you, Mich. The other boys seem to be happy to sit back and let Chris talk most of the time. He can be serious and answer questions without fooling around, but sometimes it just seems as if people almost expect him to crack a joke or be silly. "My biggest wish is for Will to come out as flamboyantly homosexual and wear outrageous clothes and say outrageous things, partly just to see what it would look like, but because sometimes, you know....I need a little help" It actually made me a bit uneasy when he said that, haha. He often gives the impression that he likes the attention when he fools around and makes interviewers laugh etc. ... but it's quotes like these that show that he'd really like the other boys to take the lead sometimes and have a break.
June 16, 201115 yr Chris, always  He's easy to block out if all you want is information :P And easy to listent to if all you want is a good laugh :D
June 16, 201115 yr Most definitely with Chris. I love when they are being interviewed as a group and you can just see him practically biting off his tongue to give the others a chance to answer. But they often sit there, waiting for him to say something. I just love his boundless energy. I love his goofiness and that fact that although he is serious about his band, he can keep it in perspective. I don't watch/listen to interviews for information, I look to them for personality. And Chris sure has an abundance of personality!
