April 7, 200620 yr agreed *shakes on it* and about the pic. I guess it wasn't based on the PICTURE itself, but maybe the idea. because it has the part that says The lights are on but nobody's at home "Everybody wants to be a Everyone wants to be a friend Nobody wants to be a slave Walking walking walking..." and that could do with what the pic. caption idea was about... "As the mills grew, more and more women came from all over New England for the advantages and steady pay the Lowell mills offered." many songs are based on things that have happend in England/UK...so could very well be ;)
April 7, 200620 yr in my opinion Radiohead songs have multiple meanings, everybody understands them in own way, they are really confusing and brilliant they're like puzzle
April 7, 200620 yr "Everybody wants to be a Everyone wants to be a friend Nobody wants to be a slave Walking walking walking..." Is that what Thom speaks in Morning Bell? I've seen so many different lyrics for that part of the song...
April 7, 200620 yr well. officially, there are two versions: From the album 'Kid A' , there a song called 'Morning Bell'. (which is suppose is the origional/first official version). It came out in 2000 Morning Bell The morning bell The morning bell Light another candle and Release me Release me You can keep the furniture A bump on the head Howling down the chimney Release me Release me Please Release me Release me Where'd you park the car Where'd you park the car Clothes are on the lawn with the furniture Now I might as well I might as well Sleepy jack the fire drill Round and round and round Cut the kids in half Cut the kids in half Cut the kids in half I wanted to tell you but you never listened You never understand I wanted to tell you but you never listened You never understand Cos I'm walking walking walking... The lights are on but nobody's home Everybody wants to be a The lights are on but nobody's home Everybody wants to be a slave Walking walking walking... The lights are on but nobody's at home Everybody wants to be a Everyone wants to be a friend Nobody wants to be a slave Walking walking walking... There is also another version off of the 'Amnesiac' album 'Amnesiac/Morning Bell'..which came out in 2001. Amnesiac/Morning Bell The morning bell The morning bell Light another candle and Release me Release me You can keep the furniture A bump on the head Howling down the chimney Release me Release me Please Release me Release me Where'd you park the car Where'd you park the car Clothes are on the lawn with the furniture Now I might as well I might as well Sleepy jack the fire drill Round and round and round Cut the kids in half Cut the kids in half Cut the kids in half and I'm sure you are making reference to these "different lyrics" .. like, live. Or just really crappy versions floating around.
April 8, 200620 yr I always found the lyrics to Exit Music (for a film) as interesting song to define. . . . as a guy, I thought the song was basically a conversation between a guy and a girl running away from home. . . "Wake... from your sleep The drying of your tears Today.. we escape We escape. Pack and get dressed Before your father hears us Before.. all hell.. breaks loose." But talking to a female, she understood the lyrics as a mother talking to her children. . . . interesting views from the different sexes. . . . .. "Wake... from your sleep The drying of your tears Today.. we escape We escape. Pack and get dressed Before your father hears us Before.. all hell.. breaks loose." I was right though, this was from the Romeo & Juliet film!
April 8, 200620 yr i always saw it as a boy and girl running away from her fathers wrath. But it makes sense as the mother and her children escaping from a bad father/husband. And you know, just because it came out in Romeo and Juliet...and it works as the boy/girl running away...doesn't mean that is the way it was "supposed" to be. and that is the great thing about music. Everyone can see it anyway they want. And unless the artists say what they wanted it to mean, no one will know. And even then people would continue to view the song the way their mind wants to.
