  • Lol I haven't been here in 5 years but I decided to pop my head back in for some nostalgia. Seems like this was my last post so here's an update... I finally saw Radiohead live in Manchester in 2017 a

may?? that's a long time ..

Doesn't 'seem' as long when pre-sales start in january (or so)

presales..:dizzy::wreck::cry: this scares the fuck out of me... :(

I'm crossing my fingers that they don't come to NY from mid-june to mid-august because I will be gone! If they do it will be just my fucking luck!!!

when will they announce the touring dates then?

Well, they're planning them right now.

I'm pretty sure the first batch will be announced late this year, wherever that may be (probably US)

I hope they will be here in summer. Vacation + Radiohead = heaven

I was doing a lesson today with some kids. One needs to do a dance or a move..and everybody needs to do the same thing.

A boy went dancing..ant it reminded me off the thom yorke dance :laugh4: I couldnt stop laughing cause everybody did the same thing :laugh4:

The idioteque dance? Oh i love it

I loved the 15 step dance...he looks like a little bunny :nice:

Ahhh how I  Thom

I found out today that my friend is a big fan of In Rainbows! I love talking about radiohead to people haha

I hope they won't come to France before the end of July (before I'll be passing som ehorribly difficult exams, which doesn't allow me to go out for a concert, even if it's Radiohead, or Pink Floyd, or Jimi Hendrix...

I hope I get to see them in London where I prolly will go for the summer. But with friends that don't like RH. I guess i will go aline. I don't want to go with people that don't understand :P

Tell me about it - I went to my first three concerts alone :P

Short interview with Stanley Donwood on BBC radio 4 today... can listen here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/today/listenagain/

Interesting... I like the bit about the little message people who didn't pay got. Cool to hear his voice- didn't think he sounded like that.

oh, great find, Erin. thank you. :)

it's interesting what he said about the colours on the cover art being toxic like rainbows that you see in a puddle by the side of the road...."because we separate like ripples on a black shore in rainbows" ...could it possibly be a reference to oil spills? (that's if the lyrics we have are correct)

:uhoh:

i just had a revelation....

In Rainbows isn't really LP7, it's actually LP8.

The Eraser was LP7.

lemme explain why.

ever since The Bends all the way through Hail to the Thief Radiohead had this theme of anxiety and how the whole world is going down the drain and how we're all fucked. listening to their albums in sequence is like reading a book, really. it all flows nicely. and then if you listen to In Rainbows right after, it's like, well, what the fuck happened to them? romance, love, infidelity...what???

but then, if you include The Eraser into the sequence, it all makes sense, because that's where the transition happened..." I don't care what the future holds/Cause I'm right here and I'm today/With your fingers you can touch me"

voilà!

(not saying Thom doesn't care about the future, but at some point you have to stop worrying and start living....it's a shift in the focus...well, you know what i mean...hopefully:anxious:)

I think the eraser is a really dark album.

yeah, the sound if is dark, but if you look at the lyrical content, about half of it is love/relationship songs.

No more going to the dark side with your flying saucer eyes

No more falling down a wormhole that I have to pull you out

The wriggling, squiggling worm inside

Devours from the inside out

No more talk about the old days

It's time for something great

I want you to get out

And make it work

So many lies

So many lies

So many lies

So feel the love come off of them

And take me in your arms

'Atoms For Peace' is about Yorke grappling with his worrywart, paranoid-android tendencies.

'Quite a personal song, really,' Yorke sniffed. 'Trying to correlate my life with choosing to do this, and choosing to get over the fear which is a constant thing I have. Being a rock star, you're supposed to have super-über-confidence all the time. And I don't.' A pause. 'And it was my missus telling me to get it together basically.'

I think it's dark and he is looking for some comfort in this inconsolable world. Look at the artwork . Everything's been erased and there must be something you can cling onto. And radiohead have always matched the sound with the lyrics. Just how i see it myself, obviously. And true there's some hope, there's always got to be some hope, what would it all be worth then. could be all nonsense what Im trying to say here but oh, well.. But yeha we gotta see some light at the end of the tunnel to go through it all. and we need sometimes something that gets our minds away from it for a while so we can handle it all. hehe so it's not ALL dark. but it's dark.

and I do understand what you mean with the whole lp8 thing, because In Rainbows has got it's darkness too. You just can't shut it away permanently as much as it would make you feel better.

I cut it now.

Everything's been erased and there must be something you can cling onto.

well, BINGO! yes, i agree with what you're saying about The Eraser. and that's what i think In Rainbows is all about... finding your center when the whole world spins out of control...love as defiance in the face of annihilation. immerse your soul in love. :D

have you tried listening in rainbows all alone with the lights out? whoa, its intense and surreal in a good hmm dark way haha

^ I havent tried that yet, i keep forgetting to! I must.

have you tried listening in rainbows all alone with the lights out? whoa, its intense and surreal in a good hmm dark way haha

That's one of the first things I did... got up at about 5 to download it, burt a cd, and went back to bed to listen to it...

It's gotta be my favorite one to listen to half asleep... the lyrics fade away and there's something about the way all the music works together... you can just get completly lost in this world it creates. :nice:
