  • Lol I haven't been here in 5 years but I decided to pop my head back in for some nostalgia. Seems like this was my last post so here's an update... I finally saw Radiohead live in Manchester in 2017 a

haha oops, i swear this thread used to have a different user who started it. never mind ha.
Most Radiohead threads got merged, so you might be right ;)
ah yes that bina---- method.
binaural recording?

welll it sounds great on my laptop anyway.... =)

Ah right i see busybeeburns :D

Yes! that was the method.

binaural recording?

Yeah binaural. I'd say the piano on Videotape was recorded like that- it sounds so *right there* and alive with headphones and a bit flat without them.

There's a couple of others that sound quite different with and without headphones. It's weird but cool.

definately. bass is so prominent on alot of the songs, amazing.

I am a bit dissapointed about videotape..and they should play all i need with piano..not the bass..

But the album..brilliant! Reckoner and house of cards my favourites at the moment :nice:

Weird fishes/arpeggi is my fav right now and i'm so going to bed listening to that tune

I woke up today with a huge headache..

So at school i decided to listen in rainbows, my headache is almost gone now

Nooo of course not :P

Now it is really gone..I cant wait for the other cd.. I'd love to hear 4 minute warning :nice:

I realised today that the trip from my frontdoor to my school door takes exactly 42 minutes.

:smug:  :D

Oh no! You'll miss the last 30 seconds of videotape!

Radiohead sold 1.2 million ‘In Rainbows’?

The response to Radiohead’s digital release of new album ‘In Rainbows’ has been overwhelming. InRainbows.com had dificulties loading, while quite a number of people were still waiting to get their 10 tracks. Makes you wonder how many copies were actually sold.

The band and their long-term management company Courtyard Management have remained tight lipped about the exact sales figures, seemingly in a bid to add a mysterious air around the album.

But Gigwise talked to a source close to the band last night, and discovered that Radiohead have achieved the monumental sales figure of 1.2 million. Even if every person who downloaded the album paid just 10 pence, the band will still rake in a massive £120,000. That figure is likely to be higher, with many speculating the average figure will even out at around the £1 mark.

With growing media hype around the release of ‘In Rainbows’, these unprecedented sales figures look certain to keep on rising. If they finally announce a world tour, audience figures are expected to be higher too. The band will cash in again when the payments clear for the ‘In Rainbows’ box set which are on sale for £40 a go. As expected, Radiohead are the clear victors of this radical way of releasing their album.

For the download version of the album, all rights — musical work and sound recording — are vested with the band, a spokesperson for the U.K.’s collecting society MCPS-PRS Alliance explained to Billboard.com.

“No one is being bypassed. Rather the band, in cooperation with us, have created their own model of direct licensing for online,” says the spokesperson. The arrangements do not apply for the physical release — details for which have yet to be disclosed — or for broadcasting, which are being licensed under standard agreements with the collecting society.

Radiohead’s music publisher for the past 15 years, Warner/Chappell, stipulates that “all necessary licenses will be in place to allow proper payment of publishing royalties on both physical and digital sales of ‘In Rainbows.’”

Radiohead’s ‘Videotape’ already remixed

A remix of one of the tracks of Radiohead’s new album ‘In Rainbows’ has already surfaced online.

‘Videotape’ , the closing track of the new album has been remixed by Mojib. The track first surfaced at IGIF, where we read that the remix includes samples of a DJ Shadow track. Listen to the Videotape remix over at FineFineMusic.com.

Thank you for your patience

Well, that was a rough week. Ever since the announcement on October 1st the ateaseweb.com server went wonky. The enormous amount of visitors had a great impact on the server which made the site invisible at times. Especially, on ‘In Rainbows-day’, when Radiohead’s new album officially leaked

But it’s Wakey, wakey, Rise and Shine… now the site has been split over two servers, which makes Radiohead At Ease run more smoothly. Some recent stories (and comments) have been lost (but most stories restored). Apologies for the inconvenience and all of the downtime/slowness of the past week. Thanks to Expression Networks for the hard work and thanks to all the site visitors for all your patience.

Update: And as it turns out, Radiohead At Ease ranked #24 as Best Unofficial Music Site at the Digital Music Awards this year. Which is actually not bad at all for a non-Radiohead year (well, at least till the day voting closed). So, thank you all for voting. It’s much appreciated.

We've read it too marek :P

But yeah..I will go listen to that videotape cover soon, im on schoolw now.

And that 1,2 million didnt surprise me..i guess there will be sold a lot when the shipping from the discbox starts.

ok, now where did DAS disappear? I wonder when can we read the Pitchfork review.

(I've already posted this in the In Rainbows thread, but ill post here anyways ;) )

(I've already posted this is another thread, but heck I'll post it here aswell)

For those people who dont like the album version of Videotape, I've been editing it so that the annoying reverse sound effect on the left speaker fades away after the chorus. I have also added very slight reverb to the song.

I'm listening to it now and the changes are very subtle, but for me they make all the difference, the second half of the song sounds much better.

EDIT: Download link:

Hope you enjoy it more this way

:)

haha! all your effort in trying to redeem Videotape. But after more than 10 listens, I think i have come to like the album version of Videotape really.

I wonder when can we read the Pitchfork review.

and laugh at it?

I like the videotape, it fits to the album.
