haha! all your effort in trying to redeem Videotape. But after more than 10 listens, I think i have come to like the album version of Videotape really.

 

Well my version sounds identical to the album version, but I've just removed a little sound effect they use nearer the end. Its growing on me too :)

(I've already posted this in the In Rainbows thread, but ill post here anyways ;) )

For those people who dont like the album version of Videotape, I've been editing it so that the annoying reverse sound effect on the left speaker fades away after the chorus. I have also added very slight reverb to the song.

 

I'm listening to it now and the changes are very subtle, but for me they make all the difference, the second half of the song sounds much better.

Well it sounds not bad, giving the song some more intimacy, but I think this effect is part of the song, put here willingly, so we should listen to the song in its complete form : it's a matter of respect.

I know it's way too early for this, but how would you rank IR among the other albums? I know my opinion might change but this is what I have now:

 

Kid A (10) >>> OKC (9.9) >> IR (9.8) >> Amnesiac (9.7) >>>>> HTTT (9.2) >>>> The Bends (8.5)) >>> Pablo Honey (7.7)

 

(Just notice how OKC, IR, Amnesiac are almost equal ^_^)

To me, Amnesiac sounds like the left-overs from the Kid A sessions

I love amnesiac! I listened to it earlier today, i don't know what i love about it, just so many great songs along with the method in which they recorded it. Well this is how i feel about their albums at this moment (it changes);

 

1. OK Computer (This is their 'classic' album, it just doesnt change)

2. Kid A

3. In Rainbows

4. Amnesiac (But i feel amnesiac and IR are pretty close in ranking, but ir as the slight edge)

5. The Bends (Amazing album too, i don't think it should have this low a rating, because i love it)

6. Hail To The Thief (I love this as well, but it did have too many tracks, and Thom's voice was not its best clearly, and the recording methods were not the most effective)

7. Pablo Honey

I remembered that they had suggested that Radiohead release their next album themselves on their website, although the guys were sort of not so keen on the idea at the time. Listening to that (quite long and very interesting) conversation again it's freakishly prophetic- And I quote:

 

“…It’s inevitable that one day soon Radiohead or a band like you will say ‘Ok, come to radiohead.com and our album is here for X dollars’, and it’ll sell 500,000 in the first week and that’ll be the end of the way the music industry has worked now for a hundred years and screwed thousands of artists.”

 

The section starts at about 8:00 in the short version or 13:00 in the long version.

 

...also a really funny part in the long version of Jonny talking about chickens of all things...

For albums I'd say :

2 - Amnesiac

See both Kid A and Amnesiac are ranked 2nd, with Amnesiac a quantum above Kid A.

This is nice, and yes, you should sing. With a voice, this could make a fine acoustic version, IMO.

you know the atmosphere of radiohead songs has always been very dark (and the eraser too) and that's what they've wanted cause the themes of the songs were very dark. I sometimes can't listen to them because it drives me in the dark world and I get anger-infected. So powerful music. But the anger kina makes me strong too. but on this album I think thre more songs that arent that dark. Thats another reason why its easier to listen to, too i think.

 

But Nude is dark but beautiful. Today I listened to CUTW on the way to school. I stared the street the whole time and got pretty angry haha.

Omg..every day i feel the need for listening to the album. Its so damn good.

 

I cant rank the albums..i am sure it will change every week. And in rainbows is still growing on me. all the albums are my number 1 :P except pablo honey.

What's the odds on EMI records releasing a greatest hits now the band have left the label?

Mayb they cant make a best of list :P because its too difficult to find the best songs..they are all good :rolleyes:

It hasn't stopped record labels releasing best-offs in the past, they will stick the singles together mixed with maybe a b-side or 2, plus some album tracks.
