  • Lol I haven't been here in 5 years but I decided to pop my head back in for some nostalgia. Seems like this was my last post so here's an update... I finally saw Radiohead live in Manchester in 2017 a

yeah, what?..

Radiohead is most definitely an album band, if I've ever heard one.

someone must have been sipping something while writing that I'd say.

If they believe in the album as a compete concept which album-bands do, why do they release singles from the album breaking up the concept?

I have forgotten how great Pablo Honey is

because that's one of the most common ways of promotion, widely embraced by record companies.

however, you can't buy Radiohead's music by track. whole album only. they aren't even on iTunes for that very reason.

anyways, don't be ridiculous.

The album as a compete art form, where each tracks leads swiftly into each other by the use of the intros and outros is broken when you release singles from it.

Worked for Kid A, hardly any promotion, no singles released from it, but still one of their best sellers

I disagree, they release singles therefore can't be classed into the same group of album-only bands like modern-day Dylan, Redwalls, Led Zeppelin.

Breaking up the album to release into singles is breaking the concept of the album.

Please don't hurt me, but I think he's right. Even if there's some kind of a thread making all the songs on an album have something in common, RH albums are no concept albums actually. Except maybe Kid A, off of which no singles were released.

Led Zeppelin made albums, so did Pink Floyd, or, for more recent bands, I would think of Explosions In The Sky, The Mars Volta (obliged to cut songs in slices in order to make them fit in with the single format) or Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

Someone agrees with me :)

Kid A flows from track to track like no-other album, yet each track has it's own sound, hence why it's so great. These days some bands can't be bothered with the lost-art of a track-listing as they decide "ah well, people will just download the tracks they like and mix it all about".

Aww, of course i listened to it! Right after i saw it :nice:

And of course i liked it. Just like all the other stuff you play

And yeah, just sing away dude! Or then you can ask ykw to sing the "ooooooooooooh" parts for you :shocked2:

You little lurker! aww but thanks :nice:

And there's no way he's ever gonna sing that, i hope :uhoh:

Back to rh albums, stop bitching if they're an album band or not, just enjoy the music

But Radiohead are just too hard to enjoy!

:disappointed:

not really :uhoh:

I'm joking! I heart the radiohead!

Today I've started to enjoy House of Cards....its the song on IR thats taken the longest for me to get into.

Ahh that's one of my favs right now, funny that i didn't really like the live version but now i'm addicted. The only song that i still don't get used to listen is videotape :disappointed: The live version was way better but oh well, love it anyway

I forgot to mention my top list album so here i go:

1.- Ok computer

2.- In Rainbows ( after more than 800 listens in less than 10 days i can say for sure that i totally adore this album )

3.- Kid A

4.- HTTT

5.- Amnesiac

6.- The Bends ( damn! it should be a sixth since i adooore this album but oh well :bigcry:)

7.- Pablo honey

But Radiohead are just too hard to enjoy!

That's what I felt for Kid A back then when it first came out. :D And that's why I never get to listening to Amnesiac and HTTT. But everything's changing now that I'm getting used to music that is 'too hard to enjoy'. I really enjoy listening to Radiohead and I like In Rainbows. It's good. :)

^ Well I've always found Amnesiac easier to enjoy than Kid A... I think I've listened to some harder-to-enjoy bands, so, it's okay bout Radiohead for me.

I find I can listen to Amnesiac almost at any time and enjoy it as well. Same with Kid A. But I can't say the same with OK Computer. I know its their most popular one and all but I'm just not 100% hooked on it.
