Madonna and the Rolling Stones are a hard act to follow, many because of the silly money they charge for shows.

when I go to a concert I don't want to see a big show, I just want to see amazing musicians and music, and that's something Madonna can not contribute to, I would nt pay $200 for a show if I know I can go to the circus

Madonna charges silly money because she knows that people will pay silly money to go and see her.

 

When I pay £50+ for a ticket for a show, I except to see something wonderful, like 2 or more support acts.

i really hate how some artists charge outrageous prices for tickets just because they can. It's a shame because I find the real fans are the ones that can't afford those prices. I mean I remember my dad telling me how growing up he saw some big band names (Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath) and the prices were so much cheaper. What happened to the days of getting to see a big band for at most $50? At least Radiohead didn't charge that much for their past tour.

$50 USD is a reasonable price, I assure you, Elton John and James Blunt did a "charity" gig here in a small venue, well in a beautiful ex convent with small capacity, but the fact of being Elton John and performing on an historic building, the tickets were around $850 USD or £800 aprox.

wow. that's a lot of money. I could see the maximum tickets for any artists be like $100, but honestly anything over that is just way too much

but the problem was that... people payed!!

the same for madonna, the highest prices were about $350 USD, but scalpers sold them on $1000 USD, and some people did pay!

Even an old washed up guy like Neil Young is charging $50, $75, &95, $250 for his second show in Halifax in the past 6 months.

 

I mean he is a legend and everything, but its ridiculous expecting people to pay on average $100 + for the same artist twice in such a short span of time. It doesn't really seem like a treat to the fans, more of a cash grab.

the problem here is that they perform only 2 times in a long time, so not only citizens of mexico city buy tickets, people from all the country but them so artists know they can demand such prices
