I swear this "argument" appears every couple of days so this is the last time I'm going to respond:

1) Pop isn't necessarily bad - some of the best songs in the past decade have been "pop" songs. Examples: Umbrella, Bad Romance, Crazy in Love, Can't Get You Out of My Head, etc.

Okay i know your taste of music now,i dont need the 2 other points anymore.

Ironic considering how many times I've been called a "hipster" on this forum. Cheers though to keeping an open mind about things! :thumbsup:

Coldplay=Mainstream

But in a positive way.

Radiohead=isnt mainstream

That's fact.

Radiohead are incredibly mainstream in the United Kingdom. They're arguably bigger than Coldplay, especially with the 90s demographic.

You call Radiohead mainstream only because they sale much,

Yeah they sell much,but they arent almost never on the popcharts or any chart from an music program and i almost never see a musicvideo from them being broadcast on tv

and you know why?.......it's because it's not sounding catchy just like most of Coldplay's

songs who are really inmenssly radio friendly.

If you actually read my post, I said Radiohead can be considered "relatively mainstream." Do they have radio-friendly songs like Coldplay? Not since the OKC days. But don't kid yourself and think they're some obscure indie band.

They are mostly an indie band rather then an pop band with radio friendly songs.

What about those songs? Both come from a concept if you didn't know.

There both epic tunes! ;)

The funniest part of the review is the part where they say that one of the songs has even an Sigur Ros kind of instrumental part.

Hahaha please people dont compare Coldplay with Sigur Ros,just dont.

Have you heard this songs already?

Coldplay - Paradise new single 2011 (Official) - YouTube

Yes, I've heard that. And I think that those are not the most clever lyrics. But comparing it to any of Lady Gaga songs, I think Coldplay's attempts are better. The lyrics here are very simple, but still they don't repeat words like love or baby 1246 times a minute.

Musically, both Paradise and ETIAW far more complex and interesting that any of, for example, Katy Perry song. Or you disagree?

May I introduce you to a song called Up in Flames? :wink3:

If you bothered to read further, you'd noticed that I continued the sentence with words ....like love or baby. I'm not a crazy fangirl. I know that they repeat a lot "up in flaaames", and on the album there is a lot of repetition too. But they've never reached the edge of stupidity with lyrics like "I'm a free bitch", or "i want your love love love love, i want your love".

That's all.

I don't usually post a lot. But what made me write here is that I just don't like when people throw around snobbish comments, and state their own musical preferences as the one and only truth. I've never written on this forum anything like "OMG they are great i luv them" and I expect from people not to write something like "OMG they' re terrible teenage pop boyz band, my favorite band *insert name*is better".

I become a bit annoyed when people try to make me look stupid for liking Coldplay, when they have no other argument besides their own taste.

I hope that I didn't offend anyone, though..

I guess winky smiley faces don't mean what they used to. I must be getting old.

Yes. Radiohead is an indie band.

Consider yourself sigged.

Okay, I just read the review and WOW, can someone please leak this stuff already?

Radiohead are, by definition, an indie band. They are currently on an independent label.

Obscure? Not so much. :lol: They're a well-known, well-respected pop band, albiet a pop band with avant-garde sensibilities.

By definition, yes. But they clearly have sold out since pre-Pablo Honey :P
