October 23, 201114 yr i think that up witw the birds Really reminiscent of the death and all his friends two of these songs just built the same way with the quiet start and transition noise I'm not saying it's bad it's even why I love this song but it's a little interesting :)
October 23, 201114 yr Thought crossed my mind too, but I think DAAHF is much better. First of all it doesn't sound like 2 seperate songs(UWTB does) , the guitar transition is a lot better and more beautiful ,and I don't really like the first part of UWTB, I usually skip it and listen to the second part. I also think that transition between the 2 songs is kinda weird, especially with those ooh's.
October 23, 201114 yr It does a bit  Although UWtB isn't quite as good as DAAHF (it's hard to beat DAAHF's scale of epicness, imo). Although the beginning of UWtB is the best, whereas the ending chorus in DAAHF is the better than the beginning :dazzled: :P
October 23, 201114 yr I still haven't heard it completely, but I can definitively say that song resembles Christmas Lights. EDIT: I just had a slim thought about DAAHF, but I think it is just pure coincidence. Also, I believe there was a bit of a Pink Floyd influence in here.
October 23, 201114 yr Their structure has similar points, yes. But the way they go from the quiet part to the big part is different : in DAAHF, it's really, really crescendo, all instruments come one after another, they all sing together... Here, the guitar leads, but everything comes at the same time, and Chris only sings (maybe will in the background). I'm schematizing here, but that was to say that to me, no, UWTB =/= DAAHF. ;)
October 23, 201114 yr I get the same vibe as I do from this song [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdRgdiSizFE]The Beatles-Good Night - YouTube[/ame]
October 24, 201114 yr I get the same vibe as I do from this song I remember coldplay using that song as the outro to the X&Y tour..
October 24, 201114 yr I remember coldplay using that song as the outro to the X&Y tour.. That is what completely won me over. I saw that tour when I was a semi Coldplay fan. They also used tomorrow never knows as the intro song.
October 24, 201114 yr Author DAAOHF is my favorite song from VLV for real,i think that UWTB its not a very good song and im just saying no song will ever be like DAAOHF ;)
October 26, 201114 yr The first half of the song reminds me a lot more of The Escapist than anything else. :P
October 27, 201114 yr DAAHF is a better song overall but UWTB is better lyrically. DAAHF is just so strong in every other category though.
October 28, 201114 yr I can't even describe how much I love DAAHF, and I think Up With The Birds comes almost equal. There's just something about how he says "Good things are coming our way!"
October 28, 201114 yr Honestly I like Up With the Birds more than Death and All His Friends :laugh3: Same. DAAHF was weird as it sounds quite disjointed. It's more like two different songs being smashed together and hope it becomes one good song. Though UWTB have the same feel, it flows better than DAAHF, in my opinion.

Both great songs!
October 28, 201114 yr I don't think DAAHF is as disjointed as UWTB. Both are great songs, but at this point I like DAAHF just a little bit better because it's more epic at the end - the crescendo into the climax is more "logical." So it's good of the band not to repeat their often re-used piano to loud setup (see: Amsterdam, Fix You, DAAHF, the Scientist, Christmas Lights, MTM). I'm conflicted...I love the lyrics and sounds in UWTB though. :)
