Hows MX? Im not feeling the reviews

Featured Replies

I dont have MX yet plan to buy it next month, reviews so far are not good from critics

theyve been lukewarm about the effort and i dont know what to say about the album anymore frankly im dissapointed based on the reviews...

Theyve got the lowest score on metacritic 59/100 its so low and the lowest of their catalogue frankly its mediocre.... i dont know if the reviews havent been fully updated yet but I hope it rises if not i dont know if I should even buy the album anymore.....

anywho.. maybe i will still buy it despite reviews... but im still dissapointed

It's their best album yet.

However, instead of leeching your opinions off dickhead reviewers who get paid to write awful, biased articles and don't even know what they are doing - you should probably just get the album and listen yourself.

You shouldn't care what other people think. Have you even read most of those negative "reviews"? It's evidently clear that the majority of them were going to bash Coldplay no matter what was released. Most of them barely even mention the music in any detail whatsoever, and launch into a stale anti-Chris martin rant.

Music is the most subjective thing on the planet. Some elitist douche bag at Pitchfork can't tell you or anyone else what to think. There is no such thing as an informed opinion with music - there is only the music. Put the album on and listen. Make up your own god damn opinion. That's what I did.

i get your point Kiame reviews are subjective....... however

The best way to do it is to listen to if yourself. There's no harm in it. I hope you like it like I do!

lmao.

There is no however!

They are subjective! Get it out of your head! Metacritic don't mean shit.

It's their best album yet.

My opinion exactly. If everyone wasnt so self conscious about what 'other people' think of the music that they listen to, the world would be a better place. Thank you for speaking some sense! :)

Like Kiame said, Music is just so very subjective.

No matter what you try, you can never write a completely un-biased paper/review.....on anything, not just music. The problem with journalists is that they have essentially already written the review in their head without having listened to the album yet. If they like CP as a band, they are going to in some way review MX in a positive way, if they hate them, they're going to review them in a negative way, no matter how the album sounds.

Here's an example. This journalist clearly does not like CP, it's that simple. He even attacks chris personally which is just weird for a 'professional journalist':

Hearing for the first time the songs that will, inevitably and inexorably, become part of the fabric of Western life from X Factor auditions to shopping-centre muzak, is a strange and often depressing experience.

Mylo Xyloto is already guaranteed bigness, by the very fact of being the fifth album by Coldplay. But it takes no chances. This is a record that browbeats and bullies you into submission with its sheer massiveness, courtesy of producer Brian Eno.

"Hurts Like Heaven", the first song (barring the overture), sounds like LCD Soundsystem's "All My Friends" played by idiots in boxing gloves, and that level of subtlety continues through every synth-smothered second.

At one point, unbelievably, Martin actually sings, straight-faced, "I'd rather be a comma than a full-stop". Strange. He has much more in common with a colon.

Seriously? You need reviews? In this day & age? Go to YouTube and listen to the tracks and decide for yourself whether it's worth your money. Relying on message board posters is as pointless as relying on reviewers. You know what they say about opinions...

Critics have always hated Coldplay. Haters gonna hate.

Woah woah woah woah woah... wait... woah... c'mon... wait... wwwwwait...

you can't end a sentence with 'However'- That's just craziness.

Dude, just download it and decide for yourself. If you're thinking of not buying at all then it really makes no difference.

You like it, you buy it. You don't, you delete it and wait another 3 years for the next one

I know right? I really want to hear the rest of that sentence.

I totally disagree with you, but I actually lol'd at this.

I totally agree that musical tastes are subjective and reviews pretty useless, by I would like to know why the scores of this album are lower than previous ones ( if it stays under 60). No doubt people seem to really love the album though. I say if you liked the material you heard during th summer, it's a safe be you will love the album as well

There are some pretty terrible reviews, but I think the best ones I've found are on blogs!

This one's really good though, it actually understands what MX is trying to do, rather than just assuming their opinions are fact (say, like, "MX is Coldplay'sattempt at an electronic album", which is just wrong), which many of the reviews are doing.

It's a great album! I wasn't too sure about it at first but after a few listens I soon realised that it's actually a very good album!

I was afraid of this album because of the negative reviews but after listening to it, I enjoyed a lot more than I thought I would.

I think the best judge is yourself. Get it and listen to it. Don't read what other people say. ;)

Yeah... I love the album. 9.5-10/10

What do you mean with the however?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

My psychic powers fail on me just when I need them the most! :bigcry:

Ive listened to it and i must say some of the reviews have got it right, There are only 2 or 4 good enough songs on this album i feel :(

You will enjoy this album if you don't go i expecting AROBTH, Parachutes, or VLV... MX is something massively different. If you going by reviews heres how it breaks down:

-The people who like it and are open to it

-The people who will always hate Coldplay

-The people who wanted AROBTH II or VLV II and didn't get it so they are going to complain about it

Hell I saw one review that said it was too happy... So yeah. Also looks at the iTunes ratings... people overall love it.

57% of Mylo Xyloto is good.

Hey, how about you make a useful post every now and then huh? Because you just stating what MX has on Metacritic is already very old.
