December 19, 201114 yr Several places in the pop-up album, there are lines of lyrics that don't appear in any songs so far from the MX era (I've typed them up down below). Could these lyrics be potential b-side or EP material (or are they just alternate versions of existing songs)? Or will they be discarded and forgotten a la Famous Old Painters? Some of the lyrics: A Hopeful Transmission Guide me stranger Shepherd me through danger Though I might No I won't When I'm Guide me, guide me to If I fall in hot water / peril Or jump in Mylo / Great Expectations In my head, in my brain In my head, all these things I can't explain Left to right Tip to toes We're in flight And we're going Where nobody knows Under the ocean By a whale swallowed whole Swallowed me / us whole Pure poetry in motion We're both down here Losing control Sellotaping my soul And this, from the cover of MX: The two of us we drove A speeding ghost, and a shadow Luminous to the road to the sea We swam from the shallows To battle lightning's glow Where we're gonna run, God only knows Take you . . . Another interesting thing I found was a page with 'MAJOR MINUS' written up at the top, but instead of the lyrics to Major Minus, we get these lyrics which presumably belonged to A Man Who Swears: There's a man who swears he's God But I'm pretty sure he's not There's a man who walks around Like he owns the f*ckin lot Takes his time A playing with your mind Crocodile clock You must It's just work It's not easy / hard All the while Tell you that you're climbing Pulling the ladder apart Saw the boss hogg Interesting, no?
December 19, 201114 yr I assume they are mostly the lyrics to songs that didn't make the cut. However they may also be rough draft lyrics. That last one could have been lyrics to Major Minus that were reworked and scrapped. Lots of songs start out with extra verses and things that sometimes see the rubbish bin.
December 19, 201114 yr Author ^^ True. Although I can't imagine why they would scrap some of these in favor of PoC, etc.

December 19, 201114 yr So....at a point in time....Viva demos weren't scrapped at all....Well that explains where Christmas Lights came about (CL included WB for lyrics and chord structure,) So if this is the case...some Viva demos might be reworked into songs......OMFG GOODBYE AND GOODNIGHT!!!!! :dazzled:
December 19, 201114 yr ^^ True. Although I can't imagine why they would scrap some of these in favor of PoC, etc. It's not all about the lyrics. I like PoC, it's a unique song. That epic riff sounds like whales having sex in a cathedral. :D But yeah, those are some really beautiful lyrics... :awesome: Should i be surprised? What do you mean? I'm not mentioning it randomly. I think these are the lyrics to the infamous CK. :P

December 20, 201114 yr Man Who Swears and Major Minus releated? Man Who Swears survived to the MX sessions O.o
December 20, 201114 yr It's interesting that The Man Who Swears is written with Major Minus. It has the "crocadile clock" lyric, like "I hear those crocadiles ticking". I wonder, is Major Minus that old? They have similar subject matter, and The Man Who Swears Always sort of seemed to be about Maximilien Robespierre to me...he's like a villian for the french revolution, as Major Minus is to Mylo's world. I don't know. Alot to think about here. Also car kids.
December 20, 201114 yr These lyrics are awesome, they just can't be thrown in the garbage bin without ever being released as proper songs. I'm trying not to have high expectations but it's hard not to believe there might actually be an EP like Prospekt's March with all those unfinished (and really cool) songs.
December 20, 201114 yr C** K*** :dazzled: That's actually what I thought. I love the lyrics to Mylo Xyloto. And The Man Who Swears? Really ? Wasn't that song from the Viva era?
December 20, 201114 yr Author And The Man Who Swears? Really ? Wasn't that song from the Viva era? Yep. That actually makes me a bit excited because that means that there could be songs from other eras that we thought were discarded but could actually turn up in some form or another eventually :D

December 20, 201114 yr I just spent the last 1-2 hours looking at all the demos/unreleased stuff from the Viva era that you guys mentioned. Oh my god, it's amazing, better than anything from the MX era. Guess we'll never hear them completely since it's been so long :(
December 20, 201114 yr Yes :D (Although I'm partial to Bloodless Revolution :dazzled:) I <3 Bloodless Revolution.
