  • I've been a Muse fan for a couple of years now. I liked a couple of their hits but then a friend invited me to come with him to a Muse concert with him in 2013. The live experience was amazing and I h

Dude! I have the same problem! To be fair, I think part of my problem is the fact that I'm VERY self-conscious about my voice. Remember how I was worried about how I sounded when talking? Take that, multiply it by 10, and you have what I think of as I sing. Actually, if I were to sing anything, it'd be the first time I'd ever publically sang for a group of people. :freak:

I actually was considering doing "Apocalypse Please," but because of what I said above about my voice issues, I'm not so sure if I should. I can play the piano part just fine. I'm just afraid of getting ridiculed due to how my singing sounds. DAMN YOU, LACK OF CONFIDENCE.

WTF, Christina.

Well I have confidence in you! (if that counts :P) Your voice is probably pretty good from what I'm guessing. You have some musical talent. You should practice a little and maybe you'll start feeling confident enough to do it. I always have to practice an insane amount before I perform. I have terrible performance anxiety. I'm afraid of messing up, especially on complicated piano pieces. If I practice to where I have it just perfect, though I feel enough confidence to get through. And I find singing and playing terribly complicated so I haven't even tried to do it yet. I guess I have confidence issues too. LOL. So I feel your pain.

Well, I mean, I can sing on pitch. It's the tone I'm worried about. :uhoh: At any rate, it's nice to know that you guys will still love me, even if I butcher it. :3

Aww! Don't be self-concious! You have a nice mid-western type accent. :)

Heh, thank you!

Ah, mid-western. I can never tell what accent is which, unless it's completely exaggerated. :blank:

I HAZ LINK.

Sorry for my clarinet, listening to it now it sounds like shit. :disappointed:

I recognize that tune! That was great clarinet playing. :nice: Good luck at your concert, tomorrow! I hope your allergies go away soon too.

:surprised: I really like your artwork and the style you used for Matt! Very nice.

How do you spell your name, by the way? It sounds really pretty.

Thanks for the compliment on my art! :D I always appreciate that. My name is spelled Devorah. It's the Hebrew spelling. My Dad is Jewish.

You're welcome! How long have you been majoring in drawing/painting?

And you have a lovely name.

OK, so since I'm basically getting "YES" from everyone, I might as well actually do something. I'd love to take song suggestions, as I'm having a bit of trouble deciding what to do.

Hoodoo? :wacky: Or not. I'm blanking out on other songs.

Aww thanks  I've been in my major for two years now. Half way done! I just went through my sophomore review where they cut about 12 out of 40 of us out of the program. :shocked2: I made it through though! :D Phew! That really made me nervous for a while.

12 out of 40?! :stunned: That must have been nerve-racking. Congrats on making the cut!

Only 33 made it through. Yeah I'm glad I made it too!

. . . oh, HAHA. I totally misread your post. My mistake! I thought they cut 33 people out of the 40 and only 12 people made it through, which would have been pretty insane.

Well, either way, it's still nerve-racking. :anxious:

Thanks! Yeah i just realized that math doesn't work out. But I don't know exactly how many people there were to begin with. :laugh3: Only that it was around 40. And yes I was worked up the whole day of review. Thankfully they showed us mercy and posted the list of who made it right after they finished reviewing us.

 I actually didn't realize the math! Eh, that's okay.

That's great of them to do that, instead of having you guys worry for a day or two.

Yeah I was glad. I get quite anxious if I don't know those type of things. :\

Hoodoo? :wacky: Or not. I'm blanking out on other songs.

...Actually, yes. That'll work just fine. The only part I'd have a bit of a concern about is the big piano bit where I'm having to plane my hands as I'm singing, but I think I can work that out.

In the meantime, I have other things.

OK, so I tried singing, and I have a couple of things. I wasn't sure if I wanted to start straight off with Muse, so I initially tried "Grounds for Divorce" by Elbow. That really didn't work, because A. my voice shakes waaaaay too much in that recording, and B. I realized upon listening back to it that I was subconsciously trying way too hard to sound like Guy Garvey, which is bad. :|

I went and sang to two tracks. You can either have a recording of "Soldier's Poem" where my voice and Matt's are blended to where I'm harder to hear, or you can have a recording of "Unintended" where my voice is a bit clearer, but I have to stop at the end because my CD skipped and got stuck. Your choice. :3

LA Rising ticket has been purchased. Why hello there, 3 more Muse shows in 2011. :D

And I'll get that dang recording up soon, I promise. I'm in finals this week, but I'll try anyway.

How in the world do you manage all that, Michael? Geez.

:awesome:

Ah, and in between Soldier's Poem and Unintended, my vote goes to . . . maybe Unintended? I can't really decide, but I guess I'm leaning towards Unintended. :)

This is the way I see it - It's my final year before I graduate, meaning it's my final year where I actually have spare time to do cool stuff like this. Sure, I'll have more money once I've graduated and start full-time working, but I won't have the liberty to do whatever the hell I want with my money and time. That's why I'm knocking everything I can out this year while also thanking the heavens that I've saved up.

Heck, I could probably go to that Indiana show if I wanted to, but I'm sick of changing my Lolla flight plans by this point, so I'll live.

And though you've probably noticed, what I'm doing is still incredibly tame compared to many Musers. :P *is glancing in direction of friends who stalked them all around Europe and around North America last year*

I may just put them both up.

God, I'm so nervous. :uhoh:

That's true.

Thinking about that, though, makes me scared that I'll definitely never see Muse live. :bigcry:

Heck yes this is the way I see it too. Except I don't graduate until next year. But I'm slotting in a lot of gigs now because I know I won't be able to do it when I get into my Masters/Training because it will be so manic.

I am so jealous about how many gigs you are seeing this year. If I could reschedule work and my placement for like a day I might... But at the same time I'm now going to Leefest on top of Benicassim and I don't know how I could fit another in!

Oh hai btw everyone. It's the end of day two... I've got a major case of tinnitus right now and I busted my knee at Miami Horror last night (by busted I mean I can only bend in certain directions and my leg is actually bruised in the shape of the barrier... As in I have a spotted, bruised leg). Had some cool times though, seen some incredible bands, went for a drink with my idols Shake Aletti and got a signed CD from Miami Horror. Yay :escaping:
