  • I've been a Muse fan for a couple of years now. I liked a couple of their hits but then a friend invited me to come with him to a Muse concert with him in 2013. The live experience was amazing and I h

Lol. :awesome:

But Wolstenbass sounds so much better than Wolstenguitar. So no excuses for that mix up! :whip: :P

Last day of school today! I have an awful schedule for next year. :disappointed:

Playing at graduation later though. :wacky:

It's because Chris is music incarnate.

YES.

Lol. :awesome:

Eh, if it was Wolstenguitar from the beginning we'd never know any different and say that Wolstenbass sounded weird. :P

Yay, your summer starts here  I'm sorry that next year looks sucky though

Ugh I'm having a horrible day. :bigcry:

So it started out with my shitty schedule for next year. Then, my friends seemed to all be ignoring me and just being rude to me in general. Then, after sitting in the sun (and a rain shower) for 3 hours for graduation (and playing Pomp and Circumstance about 9 times), I get an email from the vice principal saying I have an obligation (basically, I didn't return a textbook, library book, or uniform owned by the school).

So then I thought back. I specifically remember handing in every single textbook, and I definitely handed in my GFC and marching band uniforms. I haven't taken out a single library book all year.

Then I explained this to my parents. They said that I should go in to school (AFTER THE SCHOOL IS CLOSED FOR SUMMER, MIND YOU) and talk to her about it. Well I'm in a "fuck school, it's summer" mindset and there is no way I'm starting out my summer vacation in the fucking vice principal's office. So I said I'd send her an email and then go in if I had to, and my parents wouldn't let me do it! :wtf:

Sorry for the rant, I'm just in a seriously pissed mood right now. :|

And so how are the rest of my Muser buddies? :awesome:

Yep, that'll work. Sorry you're not having a good day, either. :\

Thanks Violet.

Although one thing I'm happy about is that I have 7 out of 8 classes with one of my best friends. :wacky:

And I have soooo much summer work, we decided we're (me and a few of my friends) going to get together every other week or so and have a little pot luck study group. :D

Ugh, I don't know why I'm in such a terrible mood today. Am I maybe a bit depressed? :disappointed: my brother's going to college and i think I'll miss seeing my friends every day :(

I can't even explain why I hate summer so much. :|

I think I have to listen to something cheery. . . Not much Muse to choose from that's happy, unfortunately. :P

^Map of your head has a happy tune to it. I mean, it's got a ukulele. :awesome:

^:uhoh: You mentioned that ultimately dividing tune... All hell is going to break loose. TAKE COVER!

^^I'm sorry your summer has started off sucky  Everyone has bad days and it seems like you're just having one of them. You'll be okay eventually, despite all the work and the changing circumstances-- y'all will adjust

How am I? Ehhh. :bomb: I just want for my exams to be over and done with now pretty much. I'm just slogging through revision, revision, revision, eating, revision, sleeping, exam, rinse, repeat. I'm a quarter of the way through though!

And yeah, I got my third year placement released. I'm doing a lab based project involved in mutation and studying DNA polymerases involved in DNA double break repairs. Yay  Got a meeting about it this afternoon so I will know a bit more later which is :awesome:

Hehe, I may or may not have done that on purpose... the Muse thread HAS been awfully quiet lately!

What are you studying, Natt? It sounds pretty full on, but studying DNA mutation would be so interesting! Are you doing medicine or biomedicine or something? Good luck with the rest of your assessment!

I'm about halfway through all of mine now

^I'm studying Molecular Medicine, which is pretty much Biomedicine except I've got a few medical specific courses which have included Anatomy and Human Dissection, Common Medical Problems and next year I have Theories of Medical Practice (basically all about ethics).

Thanks very much, and good luck with the rest of yours. They'll be over before we know it!

So, an update. The vice principal emailed me back, and said it was a part of the GFC (german folk club- i'm in the oompa band :awesome:) costume that was missing, but I handed it in on Tuesday so I don't know if I still have to pay the fine thingy because it was late by a day. :|

I love MoYH. :P :dazzled:

Thanks Natt. I guess yesterday would count as one of the bad days. :P

I know I'm going to spend the rest of my summer doing homework. :disappointed:

Natt, are you good at chemistry?

I still don't get why you have to revise exams? :freak: But good luck again with them!

Wow, sounds interesting! :surprised: So DNA mutations? One of my favorite subjects in biology this past year. :awesome:

And I've finally found someone that might appreciate the incredibly funny and amazing PCR song! :wacky:

Whoa. :stunned: Have you started human dissection yet? My bio teacher had done that and she said that the first two or three days were the worst, but after that she found it more interesting than disturbing. I don't think I could do it! :P

So, an update. The vice principal emailed me back, and said it was a part of the GFC (german folk club- i'm in the oompa band :awesome:) costume that was missing, but I handed it in on Tuesday so I don't know if I still have to pay the fine thingy because it was late by a day. :|

Aww, so there is no mystery sleuthing required? Damn, I was about to get my Sherlock on :p I'm glad it's resolved, and I hope you get away without a fine. If they fine you they're total squareballz.

Natt, are you good at chemistry?

Ahh, we all have them. I hope today is treating you better man. And hey, at least you won't get bored over the summer. And your brain won't decompose into mush either. A little bit of homework never hurt anyone! (I could've done with some between A-Levels and Uni because when I ended up back in uni my brain just sort of melted out of my ears a bit).

And I'm okay at Chemistry, I got a B at A-Level, missing an A by a mark. But it depends on what part we're talking about, why?

I still don't get why you have to revise exams? :freak: But good luck again with them!

I use revise in the context of studying? So, I'm studying for the exams... Making sure I know everything again. Because there's a load of gene names, processes, diseases, mutation classes ect I need to know for each course and I'm being tested on 8 different courses

Wow, sounds interesting! :surprised: So DNA mutations? One of my favorite subjects in biology this past year. :awesome:

And I've finally found someone that might appreciate the incredibly funny and amazing PCR song! :wacky:

 That PCR song is awesome. That's clicked, shared to all my scientifically minded friends on Facebook. I know they're all on there pretending to be working when really we're all crying inside considering about 95% of the rest of the uni have finished exams.

And yeah. By the looks of it I will be mutating a DNA Primase that is seen to be involved in repairing DNA double breaks that occur when we're exposed to carcinogens/UV. Just basically looking at the molecule in detail as my final dissertation. If it is good enough or I discover something new I could end up getting published.

Whoa. :stunned: Have you started human dissection yet? My bio teacher had done that and she said that the first two or three days were the worst, but after that she found it more interesting than disturbing. I don't think I could do it! :P

I have indeed. Did a few sessions on it in October through to December. It's really weird I guess. A couple of people fainted and things, but generally once you get used to it things are fine. It's definitely interesting because what you learn in a textbook really tells you nothing. In the textbook everything is in a specific place and is a specific size-- in reality the human body is open to so many variations that you see that things are definitely far from perfectly ordered.

Believe it or not though, even if you don't think you can do it, you'd be surprised what happens when you're in there!

Aww, so there is no mystery sleuthing required? Damn, I was about to get my Sherlock on :p I'm glad it's resolved, and I hope you get away without a fine. If they fine you they're total squareballz.

Okay, another update. :P It was completely resolved, and I'm off the list. :sweatdrop:

NOW I CAN RELAX.

Considering I'm not the most social person, I'm actually kind of glad to have some homework or else I would get bored. :P

Because I'm not too great at it and I have a giant packet for over the summer. :uhoh:

I use revise in the context of studying? So, I'm studying for the exams... Making sure I know everything again. Because there's a load of gene names, processes, diseases, mutation classes ect I need to know for each course and I'm being tested on 8 different courses

Oh haha, I'm a bit derpy today. :P Wow, that's a lot of work. :uhoh: I've found that the best thing you can do when studying is to not study too hard- usually as long as you know the material, a quick reading over of the notes works for me as a refresher. Of course, I use that method to study for high school biology, not crazy college courses. :anxious:

Haha, glad to have made your study time a little less boring. :P

Ugh, that sucks. When exactly are your exams done?

Just basically looking at the molecule in detail as my final dissertation. If it is good enough or I discover something new I could end up getting published.

That's really really cool. That sounds like something I'd be very interested in doing. . . I'm trying to figure out what I want to do when I go to college. I'm thinking something in biology, as I love the subject, but I'm not sure what. . . Biochem seems to be the most interesting to me, but as of now my chem skills are a bit meh. Might change after next year, but I'm not sure. :\

I hope you do get published. That would srsly be Wolstenawesome. :awesome:

So is this your last year of college?

I have indeed. Did a few sessions on it in October through to December. It's really weird I guess. A couple of people fainted and things, but generally once you get used to it things are fine. That's what my bio teacher said too. She said that 2/3rds of her classmates dropped the class after the first day though. :uhoh:

Haha I guess, but I got really squeamish with our squid dissection this year. :uhoh: Of course, it probably didn't help that it smelled like rotting fish mixed with the preservative smell, but oh well. :|

^ Yeah, I saw that in my Facebook news feed. :D

In other news, I don't know if any of you guys are in the Facebook group "The Cydonian School for Musers," but this week, they've decided to open a new admin slot and are having a competition to determine who it will be. Round Three started today, and it's between me and four other people. The last person standing wins, unless there is more than one person at the end, in which case the person will be picked in a random drawing. Wish me luck!

Good luck. We're all rooting for you over in this corner. Go Violet (banners and badges yes?)

Because I'm not too great at it and I have a giant packet for over the summer. :uhoh:

Well, if you do get stuck and I can help then I will. But heh, it depends on what Chemistry as specified. I am living with a Chemist over the summer so I could always get him on board :P

:anxious:

I tend to read the lecture notes and my extra reading notes I've made and then condense them all in to an A4 sheet (both sides) worth of notes per lecture. Then once I do that, the day before I go over the notes, highlight them, read them, speak them out, memorise them and then type them up. It's a little crazy but it works.

I think the issue with biology-related subjects are there's a whole heap of processes to remember. Monday I had to remember the entirety of carbohydrate metabolism, nucleotide metabolism, amino-acid metabolism and lipid metabolism. So many enzymes :bigcry:

Ugh, that sucks. When exactly are your exams done?

We're extremely lucky people, our exams finish on the 29th June. The final day of term :laugh3: Needless to say all the Mol Medics/Biochemists/Mol Geneticists are straight off for a pub crawl to celebrate it.

Yeah, I totally understand. I've never been fantastic at chemistry either though-- so you shouldn't let you put you off if it's what you're interested in. You just got to work harder at it when it comes down to it, y'know?

If I played to my strengths I'd be doing an English degree, Sciences aren't my natural strength. But I find them more interesting so that's where I ended up.

Ahhh, I'm going to be biased and totally tell you to go the science route in college anyway. Science nerds are where it's at :glasses:

So is this your last year of college?

Well, not this year, but the year I'm about to go in to. This time next year I will be graduating. I'm a little nervous about heading in to the real world :laugh3: Ideally I want to get employed by the NHS to be a clinical bioscientist specialising in either immunology, pathology or virology-- that way I get a job whilst also working to get a Masters.

Haha I guess, but I got really squeamish with our squid dissection this year. :uhoh: Of course, it probably didn't help that it smelled like rotting fish mixed with the preservative smell, but oh well. :|

Oh gosh, that smell would have made me queasy like nothing else. You've got to have a real strong stomach not to be at all bothered by that

:curtain:

Whoa, all this biology talk. :dizzy: I used to be a bio major, but then it didn't work out. :sweatdrop: Anyhoo, congratulations, Natt! Your project sounds amazing.

Christina, I hope that costume misunderstanding works out. :uhoh: Sorry to hear about your start of summer vacation. :(

^ Yeah, I saw that in my Facebook news feed. :D

That would be really great. Although I know that a lot of larger employers offer programs for their employees to get higher education.

Really? What are you majoring in now?

It did, luckily! All cleared. :sweatdrop:

Thanks. I think it'll be better now.

I got some new decorations and pimped out my fish tank, and got a heater, and some shrimp. :D

All this biology talk is reminding me why I am not a science major. SHEESH. :dizzy:
