Well, they didn't release the Paradise single and video together because they scrapped the initial video for the elephant one. That video turned out to be much better for the band, and it really helped to promote the song as well.

As for the X-factor, it was good that they prompted Paradise instead of CB, as this was probably the main driving force behind Paradise becoming number 1 in the UK. It 's not a coincidence that after the X-factor show (Dec.11), Paradise started to rise in the charts and become number 1 in the New Year.

As for PoC/Brits, that is held on February 21st. Assuming that they do release the CB video during the first week in February(according to jason Regler), then playing PoC wouldn't make much sense, but if they were to play CB...then really it's perfect for its promotion. However, if they do play PoC, then I would agree with you. Maybe they will play both.

Also, they may have wanted to release CB earlier, but since Paradise was doing well (was kind of a slow-burner), they may have pushed back the release until February.

I will say though that they should do another round of promos in the States. If they could possibly perform at the Grammy's (not sure how likely that would be), then it would be great for the band.

Regardless, I hope there is some sort of official announcement regarding the release of CB from CP coming soon.

Well sure, I agree with everything you said. It worked out well for Paradise, but it would've been better if they did everything on time like I suggested.

By now we would be expecting the POC video, and there would be plenty more commercially viable potential singles.

Another mistake (I think) is Major Minus which also should have been a single with a video, not just an ETIAW B-side.

^ Major Minus should be a single in the future, it's a perfect one, catchy chorous and less than 4 minutes lenght.

I would love Major Minus to be a single, it reminds me of GPASUYF. However, I doubt they ever would release it now, seeing as it was already on the ETIAW EP. Still, they could always surprise us!

Exactly, but:

However, I was curious as to who invented the double A-side singles and I saw that, for instance, Beyonce initially released Single Ladies as a B-side of

If I Were A Boy but later released it again separately and it became a big hit (unfortunately). So anything's possible...

I'd like the singles from MX to be:

1. ETIAW

2. P

3. CB

4. POC

5. HLH

6. MM

7. DLIBYH

This is a lot for a CP album, but it's much more commercial than their previous albums.

When I say a lot, I don't mean that they don't have enough songs on an album that are singles material, just that they don't like releasing many singles.

hmmmm I don't think HLH or DLIBYH will be singles. As much as I love them and they are easily good enough, they just wouldn't work without their respective intros. Unless they combined MX/HLH into one track, or edited the beginning like they did with ETIAW. Even if they did the latter, it still wouldn't sound right as everyone is used to hearing the intros before those songs by now. I mean, try imagining HLH on its own without MX. The beginning wouldn't sound right would it?

Oh but I don't see that as a problem, of course they would combine MX and HLH (and possibly edit it a bit, cut off the end) I don't think they'll release it just as they didn't release Politik and Square One even tough they are in my top 5 of their respected albums. They keep at least one awesome song (Cemeteries Of London also comes to mind) from being a single so that people would buy the album. And HLH perfectly describes the album as a whole.

And DLIBYH is not really one of my favorites, but A LOT of fans love that song. 90% said they want it added to the MX setlist. I guess I'd prefer the live version...

It's probably gonna be PoC :\

It is inevitable. Like the Sun dying in 5 billion years.

I mean, it's the most mainstream song on the album, not releasing it would be stupid.

+I wanna see Rihanna and Chris gettin nasty... :wink3:

And that is almost exactly what usually plays on the radio in some ways

HLH was given away as a single for some Starbucks offer thingy a few months back. They edited MX and made it a shorter, 20-30 second, intro to HLH. It's all one track, though, and HLH sounds exactly the same otherwise

Oh please God don't let it be used in an ad like Pumped Up Kids.

PS Come to think of it, even the U songs could be singles (all but UFO), even Moving To Mars. Am I being irrational?

I have scripts in my head for a video for every MX song. Call me, Coldplay. :dazzled:

Us Against The World would be a hit I think. That should be a single.

This whole album could be a sinlge....I would say only U.F.O is really far away from becoming one (I thought that of Strawberry Swing so....). They will have some tough choices for eventuals 5th and 6th singles.

There's always 4 singles off each the album so far. We know 3.

^

Singles of each album:

Parachutes-4

AROBTH- 4

X&Y-6

VLVODAAHF- 5

MX- (so far) 3

Some of the singles were limited to only a couple of countries.

WW singles are the ones listed here: http://coldplay.com/recordings.php

So it's - 3/4/4/4/1/3.

I'd be happy with 5 singles/videos (known 3 + POC and HLH).

i think hurts like heaven will be the next single after charlie brown. hopefully more will come after :D

Yeah, X&Y only had 4 not limited, but Vava had 5 & none were limited. So I guess we just gotta see what happens :)

X&Y selection after Talk will be an eternal WTF?! THP and WI. WS was a quasi-single. It should have been single #4 with an epic video.

LIJ had a video but it was only a US radio single for some reason. They don't count it on the official site.

SS had an even "more limited" release, just the UK. Look at the charts:

Yeah I finally put X&Y on my iPod the other songs that would be better as singles

I think Up In Flames would be a good single.
