May 25, 201214 yr Just wondering. The board seems very quiet this time around. There's loads of videos and photos to be had, but very few people seem to be writing reviews. What happened to all the review writers?
May 27, 201214 yr You should see the Lounge, heaps of tumbleweeds in there It does seem oddly quieter around the place Also probably what Ian said, a lot of people just report via Twitter now, in 08 that was only starting up I do like the long write-ups tho
May 27, 201214 yr its all happening in 140 characters or less these days. Genius! Really, I hadn't thought about that and I completely agree.
May 27, 201214 yr great question. I sit here waiting for somebody to post while listening to Till Kingdom Come.
May 27, 201214 yr Just wondering. The board seems very quiet this time around. There's loads of videos and photos to be had, but very few people seem to be writing reviews. What happened to all the review writers? IDK, honestly I thought the gig threads were generally more active this go around, and I've been around for a few tours now.:\
May 27, 201214 yr Author its all happening in 140 characters or less these days. but how can: Coldplay was incredible tonight! #coldplay #mxtour #zurich compare to: As soon as Blue Danube started it began raining torrentially and for the first 6 songs EVERYONE on the floor (probably half of the 80,000 crowd) were soaked to the skin. The atmosphere was incredible and must surely surpass that of Red Rocks several years ago when rain almost cancelled the show. With the rain, glowsticks, flying beer glasses (!), the end of the Viva tour, group huddle after the very last song which included Phil Harvey... etc etc... it really was the best show that Coldplay have ever put on. You just know when the lasers during Clocks glitter as raindrops pass through them that its going to be a special show. Yes #42 even better than Paris. Thanks to Chavi who gave me her setlist and the Coldplayitalia crew at the C-stage for the Viva crown and thanks to the roadie who left his cap behind near the C-stage - you won't be needing it again for a while! Please don't arrest me it has gone to a very good home At one point we were wondering if the C-stage would actually go ahead - watching the roadies clear buckets of water from the under the stage and rip the carpets up didn't look good. Thank fuck it stopped raining by Glass of Water. No changes to the setlist and no appearance by Simon Pegg this time. the first one, I know you had a good time. the second one, I know WHY you had a good time, what your personal highlights were, and some of the things that happened that didn't make it on to youtube. don't get me wrong, 140 characters is brilliant mid-gig so you know feel like you know what's going on, but there's nothing like a review to give you a clearer picture of the full show. I guess I'm missing seeing lots of reviews with all the different personal highlights, and different opinions as to what was good & bad. doesn't need to be a long one, but surely our boys (and our money!) are worth more than 140 characters?
May 27, 201214 yr True, but the other side of that is that it's now much more likely for pretty much all the important moments to make it onto Youtube. A lot of the gigs even go up in their entirety.
May 27, 201214 yr The "fans" sit behind a video camera to record their concert and not be part of the crowd so to speak. Moaning if someone is singing "too loud" or waving about as it upsets their video.
May 27, 201214 yr ^ I always hate it when people do that. I mean, it's cool if you want to film, but don't stop others from enjoying the concert for the sake of your video....
May 27, 201214 yr ^ I know really. I took one video when I was at the concert. It MX/HLH. I also took about 7 photos. That's about it. I enjoyed the songs and the wristband without taking a video. Plus it makes it more enjoyable. :P All the captions in my sig are things Chris said during the concert too haha. I've been trying to find the right picture from the concert I went to to use as my avatar.
May 27, 201214 yr Completely agree. People seem so concerned about recording the whole concert that they miss so much. I wasn't aware of this till I went with a friend for a gig and he took TWO extra batteries for his camera so he could film it all. I probably ended up messing it up with all my singing along tho :laugh3:
May 28, 201214 yr I've read many detailed reviews of the MX Tour on Tumblr recently, that's where people has moved to I guess. Completely agree. People seem so concerned about recording the whole concert that they miss so much. I wasn't aware of this till I went with a friend for a gig and he took TWO extra batteries for his camera so he could film it all. I probably ended up messing it up with all my singing along tho :laugh3: I completely agree about people being more concerned about filming/taking pictures than about enjoying the concert. It's fine if you take pictures here and there, they are great memories but if you are mainly concerned about taking good pictures or recording entire songs you'll probably miss the whole expereince.
May 28, 201214 yr ^ I always hate it when people do that. I mean, it's cool if you want to film, but don't stop others from enjoying the concert for the sake of your video.... Maybe, but in all honesty, I've seen way more complaints from the jumpers and wavers critisizing others for being "dead". Everyone enjoys concerts in their own way.
May 28, 201214 yr The gigs threads used to be insane with people spazzing since weeks and weeks before. Now they seam dead .
May 28, 201214 yr yeah its a shame. like before the wembley gigs everyone was buzzzzing, organising meetups, constantly posting and now its so quiet :/
May 28, 201214 yr I know! It was impossible to keep up with the threads, now no one is posting in the London threads.
