February 27, 201313 yr Talking about cassettes... this is the most rare item on my collection... And the other side... Regards from Spain.
May 23, 201313 yr Spies - Nikolai Levy Remix (Pre-Parachutes) I have a copy of a very old compilation CD on Parlophone from 1999 "Flavour Of The label". It contains an older version of Spies (Pre-Parachutes). Sometimes referred to as the "Nikolai Levy Remix" it was supposed to be released on the Blue Room EP but was ultimately omitted. When Parachutes was released a year later it was completely re-recorded and this version quickly disappeared into the depths of obscurity. May 23, 201313 yr A spell a rebel yell, I have much rarer songs, but seen as they were not released, I think this is the winner I have one of these but I accidentally got some of the glue stuff on one side of it from the sticker that keeps the cardboard sleeve shut... any idea if I should clean it off? Bit silly how they did that. Also I love that early Spies version... if only the Shiver one would show up
May 23, 201313 yr There is an alternative version of Spies on YouTube, but I guess that one is even older. There's nothing better than stumbling upon one of their songs never heard before. :D There are many unreleased and I'd like to hear them all one day.
November 14, 201312 yr Has anyone on this thread mentioned the "White Shadows" promo sent to Mexican radio in 2007? I heard if you find a copy of that, you are officially the king of collectors. It's that fucking rare. I don't think there's even any pics or any description to what the promo actually looks like, to my knowledge. All that anybody knows is that it exists, and the song charted at #87 on the Mexican Singles Chart in mid 2007. I believe it was released to Mexican radio to coincide with the Latin American leg of the Twisted Logic Tour.
November 14, 201312 yr Only ever sent the White Shadows promo mentioned here, but never found one listed anywhere else (even as sold). If it's out there, it's mega rare. I do recall losing an auction years ago for a Spies promo CD. Can't recall the region, but it had the song title and a photo of the band on the front of a card sleeve. Never seen one since. Aside from the vinyl test presses (think my Speed of Sound is #2/10), I think my rarest is a Parachutes CD test press with a different track listing. Looks exactly like the Townhouse promo, and features the same songs, but the album is not named, and it starts with Shiver instead of Don't Panic. Never found another like it. I'm still missing several the really early promos that I've never found outside of "sold out" listings. Bigger, Stonger (Astoria) CDR, Spies cassette EP, Brothers & Sisters CD-R, Etc.... Guessing they're pretty elusive too.
