As you may know, Coldplay have recently teamed up with Album Artists to raise funds for Kids Company, a London-based charity which aids some of the most vulnerable children in the London area. The fundraiser includes original Mylo Xyloto artwork, digital prints, canvases, and even the infamous "MX wall", hand-painted by Coldplay and Paris: Coldplay's "artist in residence".

Through Album Artists, Coldplaying.com has been extended the special opportunity to ask Paris a few questions about his experience working with Coldplay! We are putting the call out to all Coldplayers for questions to pass along to Paris. You may recall that Coldplay.com posted a two-part interview with Paris back in April (see Part 1 and Part 2).

So... do you have any questions that you would like Paris to answer? Post them here! (Or if you would prefer, you can PM me with your question.) We're looking for unique questions of course; please, try not to repeat the questions already posted in Coldplay's 2-part interview.

The tentative deadline for submitting questions is 7 November. We will make sure that some of the best questions get passed along to Paris; his answers to your questions will be posted here sometime in mid-November.

And stay tuned for more exciting news...

Probably a weird question, but what was the strangest item they asked him to mx-ify and has the MX style influenced his own style/work in any way.

That's great!

I'd love to know what markers they used besides the graffiti.

i can tell you that, they mostly use "Molotow ONE4ALL", and "POSCA" markers. ; )

how did the collaboration with Coldplay begin, how did it all start?

Oh cool! :cheesy:

I'd like to know if Paris taught Coldplay any spray painting techniques, or if he gave them some exercises to improve their skills.

OH! And what are his favourite artists!!

From Interview: Paris, Coldplay's artist in residence (pt 1)

Let’s start at the beginning: how did you first get involved with Coldplay?

For the last few years I’ve been involved with decorating The Park area at Glastonbury Festival. Misty and Reg run that, and Misty’s been involved with Coldplay doing the sets for the shows and the Christmas Lights video. I think the band were putting out the word that they were looking for a graffiti artist. And I think [Glastonbury co-organiser] Emily Eavis actually recommended me first. I just got a phone call out the blue from Misty asking if I’d like to work with a band.

Does he think that graffiti artwork deserves a place in art galleries or should it stay where it was started, in the streets?

The answer to that is beautifully stated in the first post.

However, I'll make it easier for you:

We will make sure that some of the best questions get passed along to Paris; his answers to your questions will be posted here sometime in mid-November.

When the band came to input their part of the graffiti projects did all 4 members of the band jump in right away or did any one of them need some encouragement to start?

Dear Paris,

Did you make any changes or add new art for the concert venues featured on the live DVD as a way to add even more impact on film? The graphics were truly stunning at the concerts I saw; thanks for that.

Best Wishes,

Eleanor

Did any of the band members have any sort of difficulty at first with the graffiti? Even if not, any funny stories on a graffiti-gone-wrong incident?

Great questions everyone! You can post more questions through Friday, and then I will forward them on to our contact.

Which grafittii artists from the past have influenced you.... and how would you describe your style to someone who hasn't seen it?

We've received responses from Paris to some of your questions! We'd like to extend a warm thank-you to Paris for taking the time out of his busy schedule to do this for the fans. If you'd like to keep updated on his current projects and other activities, feel free to visit his website and blog.

And don't forget, there's still time to enter the raffle to win your choice of one of the £250 MX lithographs, with proceeds going to Kids Company. The more you donate, the more entries you get, and the better chance you have of winning the lithograph!

I've painted soooo many things on this Album /Tour it's hard to choose a favourite...sneakers, hard hats, phone cases, flight cases for the roadies..., I love the pianos, drums, fenders & acoustic guitars, the style I've developed there has really inspired my canvass painting & studio work.

.....Wierdest thing I've MX'd?....probably a mini fold up penny farthing for a Roadie. Oh yeah I painted some crutches for Mcgoo whilst in Auckland the other day too!

OH! And what are your favourite artists?

I taught the band a few trade secrets & special techniques.....but they all had a lot of enthusiasm & excitement for the project and that's all you really need!

They all advanced really fast , and each developed their own individual style right away.

My favourite artists are Ekoe, David Hockney, Henri Mattisse, Hundertwasser, Pablo Picasso, Russell Maurice, Mudwig, Pinky, Kieth Harring.

Do you think that graffiti artwork deserves a place in art galleries or should it stay where it was started, in the streets?

It's getting harder and harder for graffiti work to remain in the streets these days...everything gets sterilised and cleaned up so fast!

If graffiti hangs in galleries it has to be in the right context, like installation art & objects ...

Art that records a specific moment or action....re-created on canvass.

All the band took to spray painting so naturally, I mean it's pretty un-nerving the first time you pick up a spray can.... , especially in front of a group of people , but they all flowed straight away!

Which graffiti artists from the past have influenced you.... and how would you describe your style to someone who hasn't seen it?

Graffiti artists from the past who have inspired me are (Bando from Paris)Quick, Fuzz, Futura 2000 & Arab (NY)..

I'd describe my style as "beyond graffiti"...somewhere in the trans continental shift in space, time & style I paint pictures with words..." (it's hard to explain so I let the pictures do the talking...)

Yes the mic tech asked me to specially paint all the radio mic's with flouro paint and little symbols on, so that the close ups on the band would work really well.

Did any of the band members have any sort of difficulty at first with the graffiti? Even if not, any funny stories on a graffiti-gone-wrong incident?

A lot of furniture got painted in the making of this Album cover!

How do you get into this type of a career? I'd love to do something like this!

I've been very lucky! Always work hard and follow your dreams, you'll meet the right people in life to make it happen!

Yours is the one about grafitti and art galleries, right (just went back the previous page)? It was pretty interesting and Paris' answer was good too.
