daaaang, good job!

i think maybe YOU are the queen of riddles after all :surprised:

She IS the Queen of Riddles (and an insomniac too I think [emoji1])

Solving riddles when people in Europe are supposed to be sleeping. [emoji38]

and an insomniac too I think emoji1.png

well that is unfortunately true....

I think you are the Queen of riddles though, you always make those brilliant connections that no one else sees :D

Here is the new one:

Born 156 years before the Coldplay video was released that featured a country he had never visited (but he did visit the small country on its right)

Oh boy, I hope we don't have to know every video they have released, because then I'm screwed. :D

I'm going to try this theory first:

a country he never visited (but he did visit the small country on its right) --> can this be China (and Japan the one he visited)?

I know 2 songs "featuring" China:

Speed of Sound --> video released on 23 may 2005 - 156 years --> 23 may 1849

Princess of China --> video released on 2 june 2012 - 156 years --> 2 june 1856

I'm gonna wait for a  or  before I contine digging in the www :D

could be Mexico and Cuba

AHFOD... 1860

or India/Bangladesh, which also works out to 1860 in the end :P

i'm assuming "right" means east?

Yes, it means East. And you're on the right track there !

That is why I started thinking of China and Japan. [emoji6]

So.

Going further on 1860 I have found only 1 birth date that might lead to something.

AHFOD -> released on 19 August, in the year 1860 John Kane was born on that day.

John Kane, Scottish-born US primitivist painter

Hence:

Famous Old Painters?

(Although he isn't famous to me)

An other release was

Hymn for the weekend -> 29 january 1860

Anton Chekhov

Physician, short story writer, playwright.

No to your guess. Look again in that year...

Oops, the date itself is not important?

That is, not really related to a video release date.

But something in 1860 happend what is Coldplay related?

Pfff, have to solve a lot of puzzles today.

Oh, I only just saw that ! There you go, that's correct ! (And the country he visited was Sri Lanka by the way, he never visited India)

Now you need to make a connection to a Coldplay song !

Paradise?

He wrote this about his visit to Sri Lanka:

"Then there was Ceylon - the place where Paradise was located. Here, in Paradise, I covered more than 100 miles by railway and was sated up to the neck with palm forests and bronze-skinned women," he wrote.

No, the Coldplay connection you have to look for actually has nothing to do with his travels, more with his thoughts and ideas.

Nooooooo.

I have read that wiki page 2x. Every quote, titles of his work.

Well he was sick but kept on helping the other sick.

All that I can think of right now is: Am I a part of the cure or am I part of the disease? --> Clocks

My head just aches now. [emoji1]

edit:

one of his quotes:

"When a lot of remedies are suggested for a disease, that means it cannot be cured"

It's not that quote. But i just checked, the famous quote you have to look for actually is on the English-language Wikipedia page, so... :)

Did you know he had many quotes, there is a website with 615 of them?? :shocked2:

This one is really appropriate right now:

“Do silly things. Foolishness is a great deal more vital and healthy than our straining and striving after a meaningful life.”

:D

On the English Wiki there is only this one:

“In reality, everything is beautiful in this world when one reflects: everything except what we think or do ourselves when we forget our human dignity and the higher aims of our existence.”

Makes me think of Amazing Day.

or even Don't Panic.

I just read that (I think): Chekhov's gun.

'One must never place a loaded rifle on the stage if it isn't going to go off'

Life in Technicolor ii --> Oh and time's a loaded gun

That's the quote indeed ! But I was thinking of another song in which a line shares even more resemblance to the quote.

aaaaaaaaarrrghh

Lost!

Every gun you ever held went off

:D

You must have felt as if every door you ever tried was locked during this riddle, though

That pretty much describes it, yeah. :D

But I was eager to get this because I already had a new one in mind. :happy2:

Will put in on in a minute, in the meanwhile here are some other nice Chekhov's quotes that I bumped into.

“What a fine weather today! Can’t choose whether to drink tea or to hang myself.”

“Fine. Since the tea is not forthcoming, let’s have a philosophical conversation.”

“I don’t understand anything about the ballet; all I know is that during the intervals the ballerinas stink like horses.”
