I still don't see how "A famous German - but what is special about this person's 329th birthday? (21 March 1685)" leads you to the number 14.

What is so special to that day ? Except from being the year 2014; but for me that's not a day and not the same as 14.

that was in fact the article i found while trying to come up with this riddle. the day specifically (March 21) was not so important to the answer as was just what happened around it, if that makes more sense?
