Threatening phone calls

Featured Replies

Don't you just love them?

On Monday my Dad got his car bumped whilst we were out. We were in a shop and some people came in and told us (as they'd seen us get out of it). My Dad went out and jogged down the street to where they were, at a traffic light waiting to turn. They claimed that they were in the process of turning around in order to come back.

Anyway my Dad and the driver (a 19 year old with his Uncle) swapped details and it was decided that my Dad would get a quote from the garage and get back to him with a price. Because the car is expensive (Dad's mid life crisis purchase) it will have to go back to the dealer to get a specialised part as my Dad wants the job done properly given how much pride he takes in it. The other driver said that he couldn't pay yet as his Dad was the one with the money and he was overseas at the moment and wouldn't be back for a little while.

So my Dad got all his insurance details out when he got back and noticed that his insurance ran out next week. Given that there were going to be complications with getting the money, and since my Dad's insurance was running out so time was of the essence he informed them that he would be going through his insurance rather than sorting it out personally.

We received a phone call tonight from the Dad of the driver asking why he was going through his insurance. When my Dad explained he was told he was acting like a Paki and made remarks about things happening when he got back in the country. My Dad asked if he was threatening him and the guy kind of backed down a little then went back to saying he's doing things that a Paki would do.

My parents go away on Tuesday for four days and I'll be home alone. Hoping there won't be any form of revenge when I'm on my own. The guys were very muscular with plenty of British Bulldog tattoo's and Union Jack tattoo's, so given their aggressive nature and racism I imagine they may be a little better at fighting than me (perhaps that's an unfair presumption to make).

Pretty annoying. I was looking forward to the alone time at home. Now I'm not. They obviously know where we live given our exchange of details, and the driver has already been to the house to take a picture of the car and the damage.

My Dad went to speak to the police officer who lives a couple of doors down and she recommend we log it with the police tomorrow morning just in case anything does happen, whether it's damage to property or worse. We are also informing the insurance, too.

Fun times.

Anyone had any experience of threatening phone calls?

Hmmm I don't know if it puts your mind at ease but if this guy was crazy enough to actually do anything he probably couldn't care less about threatening someone over the phone, and he seemed to care from what you've written.

Quite possibly, and it does a little, but he does seem like a real moron. Not sure if he'd think things through. Seems like the type to give himself away. Like how it's so easy to trip up the EDL when they stick all their pics up online and spread racism on social networks.

Anyway, hopefully just empty threats and given he's not in the country yet it could give him time to cool down.

Hmm, I can see how this is scary...confrontations with people you don't know are never fun, and it's easy for me to sit here and say "Ah don't worry about it" because I am not in your shoes, but I honestly wouldn't be worried about it. I doubt anything happens, they do sound like jerks though.

I work in the medical field -- more specifically a small medical practice, and it just blows my mind how many people are mean and spiteful because they can be. What's the purpose? Just to ruin somebody's day? I could never talk to people the way some people talk to others. One; it's not professional, and two it's completely and utterly rude, and that's just not my way of doing something. How childish of that guy to start throwing racial slurs around. What's that going to accomplish other than ignorance on that guys end?

This is true as well: We can see 50 lovely patients in a row and we'll never remember them, but we'll remember the one asshole that walked through the door that day. Sucks how that works doesn't it? Damn you human mind! Damn you!

It's lovely isn't it? :awesome: I always wish every asshole I meet that he gets hit by a truck. That calms my mind somehow :wacky:

Though if you work in a medical practice there's every chance the asshole who gets hit by a truck ends up visiting you for weeks or months.

If he's gonna be in a coma he won't be an asshole anymore :idea2:

You'll have to look after him though.

Anyway, my parents are considering not going through insurance now, simply because they could do a lot more damage if they wanted to. The car is expensive and doesn't fit in the garage so all it'd take is for them to key it and it'd cost way more, and because of the age of the kid who bumped it, his insurance would shoot up and cost thousands. They may want revenge at that price. Given he's out the country all he'd have to do is get a mate to go and do it whilst he's still out the country and there's nothing the police will do. Plus my parents will be on edge and paranoid for a while and they can't be bothered. With the way he was being on the phone my parents are considering not going on holiday (it was only a short one to London). So if they can get the money to us it looks as though it won't go through insurance. They'll have to be quick though.

That's probably what the other party want, not to go via the insurance as most likely they have insurance for the car, but not the driver.

I wouldn't say that was most likely. Merely a possibility.

It's likely because of the price of insurance. Went on the drivers Facebook earlier and there's not much on there unless you're a friend but about five statuses ago he's moaning about the price of his insurance.

So he goes and hits a car? Brilliant, lol.

It appears to be sorted. They have paid up and we aren't going through insurance.

It's good to hear you won't have to bring on the PAIN with your GUN SHOW

My friend calls me noodle arms, so I don't think that would have been the case.

Sorry but that mental image is just way too funny!

I'll meet you by the abandoned mine at sundown!

I'm always up for KICKING ASS but I just exfoliated and don't need blood and sweat clogging up my pours.
