Glastonbury 2014: First tickets sell out in 30 minutes

The first set of tickets for next year's Glastonbury Festival have sold out. The 15,000 coach and ticket packages went on sale at 6pm on 3 October and sold out in half an hour.

The news was confirmed on Glastonbury Festival's official Twitter page where people were also reminded that another 120,000 tickets for the festival will go on Sunday 6 October.

Prices for the 2014 event have been increased to £210 plus a booking fee. Last month, festival organiser Michael Eavis said they won't beat this year's festival.

The Rolling Stones, Arctic Monkeys and Mumford and Sons headlined the event at Worthy Farm this summer. He added: "[it's] downhill all the way now. I've had 44 years of an incredible career and we're still milking the old cows as well."

When asked about who would be headlining Glastonbury in 2014 Michael Eavis said people wouldn't be surprised.

"Pretty obvious isn't it?" he said. "There aren't many left. It's the process of elimination isn't it? I think we've got three or four really good ones lined up for next year and we're sorting out 2015 as well."

There is speculation about who will play at Worthy Farm between 26 and 29 June next year. David Bowie is one of the bookies' favourites to headline, an Oasis reunion and a set from Foo Fighters have also been rumoured.

The remaining tickets for Glastonbury Festival 2014 go on sale at 9am on Sunday 6 October.

Glastonbury Festival tickets sell out in record time

Tickets for next year's Glastonbury Festival sold out in a record time of just one hour and 27 minutes, the event's organisers said.

Around 120,000 tickets went on sale, with over one million people registered for the music event.

Organisers Michael and Emily Eavis said in a statement: "We have, once again, been blown away by the numbers of people who were hoping to join us at the festival, and we're sorry that many of you have missed out on a ticket. We genuinely try to make the ticket system as fair as it can be, but when demand outstrips supply, it is an unfortunate inevitability that some people will be left disappointed."

Technical issues affected the first 30 minutes of sales. A spokesman for See Tickets wrote on Twitter: "Now selling approx 3000 tickets a minute. Again, we're really sorry for that first half hour and good luck to everyone who's trying."

Tickets cost £210 for the festival, which will take place from June 25 to 29 next year.

It's funny because I refused to go to a birthday party yesterday night, so that I could be up and ready this morning for the ticket sales, and today I learned that the guy who organized the party got tickets thanks to his girlfriend :)

Lily Allen has said she is playing the festival

My prediction will most likely be 3rd top on the pyramid stage, or 2nd top for the Other stage.
