Could Coldplay do a Beyonce?

Featured Replies

Or a Radiohead/David Bowie/My Bloody Valentine

And just release the new album onto iTunes (or other online download site) without any prior publicity about the release and only going onto the promo trail after it's been released?

Would be interesting and surprising for the fans to say the least

After the really long campaign beofre MX, it would be refreshing if they just released it and started the promotion after.

Less chance of leakage if it's a surprise release.

Although wouldn't work for physical release as they are harder to control.

^ Beyonce's album was also released physically as far as I know (read on RTL text), but a week or so later.

Coldplay could do the same as Beyonce to avoid leakage including also release it physically.

^ They don't. But sometimes an album leaks (normally only a short time) before its actual release.

So if we do not know its release date and LP6 is released suddenly, i.e. as a surprise, then it won't leak.

I think the leakage is also a surprise. :laugh3:

^ Right you are - and also an unwelcome surprise to the band & Co.

It would be interesting, but I for one, like the excitement of knowing an album is coming out and getting all hyped up.

they sould send the album with things people order in the coldplay shop.

those will be special edits. and after a two weeks, people will be able to download it on itunes and a week later physical release.

Now all this seems suspicious to me, all
