Next Coldplay tour in a ‘couple of years’ & more revelations!

It's not unusual for bands at their level to tour relatively infrequently. They're now firmly established as one of the biggest acts on the planet, don't need the money, don't need to fight to maintain their career status and all have small children. They're in a position to take some time off and it looks like that's what they want to do right now.

I know they are big, but they had time off for years now. I mean, they didn’t do big tour. They have fans all over the world, not just in big cities (London, Paris, LA…). And some of us don’t have opportunity to see them live.

Oh well, we can't force them to change their mind :uneasy:

just because they are not touring, doesn't mean they are not working. with what has been out so far, it is pretty clear, that coldplay have been busy since the mylo tour.

People won't forget about them, it's different if you had a one-album band disappear for 2 years after a tour to record their 2nd album to come back to "who are you again?"

From what i got from their explanation, the reason they didn't do a big tour with ghost stories is because there tired of it. I know it must take a large toll to take a year traveling but still its been two years and getting into one of the few gigs for me was impossible :/ Hopefully they start sooner than later.

Could be, but what i have gotten from interviews was that Chris felt he needed to do GS and get it out of his system, then there was the quote of "GS doesn't really have arena anthems" which i can sort of see.Hence no big tour. I think this 2 years until the next tour is a bit of a throw away quote. They are supposed to be starting LP7 very soon as far as i have read and probably have sort of given themselves a time limit as to when the lp is finished and to tour, two years max? I wouldn't be surprised if it's sooner though, considering after the RAH shows they wouldn't be doing anymore shows for quite some time.A bit of a porkie pie told there then.

I agree. I think they are just trying to not get expectations too high. They want to be able to focus on the new album without rush.

We have "A Rush of Blood to the Head". Now LP7 should be called "Without Rush".

Again though, that's just the way it goes. Look how many places Radiohead omitted on TKOL tour a couple years ago, or how many years (typically 4-5) between U2 tours these days. I think the days of Coldplay being a band that tours frequently and abundantly may be over for good, and that's something we may just have to all get used to.

Id like to remind you guys that REM did not tour for their most popular album

We have to say thank you that after 6 albums they still release albums every 2/3 years

^this. There at the stage of their career now where many bands start to have very lengthy gaps between releases. Coldplay have still never had more than 3 years. (which really cuts down to 1 year when you subtract the 2+ years of touring they typically did)

That's... philosophic.

And we have 'Ghost Stories' so LP8 should be called 'Children's Stories' because they're all having children. It all makes so much sense now.

That's actually a great title...

Anyways, any revelation as to when the true love video and the GS dvd is going to appear?!

I actually like the name Without Rush

Or maybe "Slow It Down" in honor of Us Against The World. :) great song.
