Charlie17
Here is what the preset in the Alchemy synth sounds like that coldplay used for always in my head. Kind of sounds like a choir singing "what about me." I also did a little remix thing of the albums outro which also uses that patch. Then naked synth patch is there in my dropbox. https://www.dropbox.com/s/6xcbogzmgnelhi1/Always%20in%20my%20head%20synth%20patch.m4a?dl=0 And the outro to the GS album is here on soundcloud. https://soundcloud.com/cedmo013/project-7 -charlie
theprospekt
I love the outro! Had GS sounded like that it would've been a more interesting album imo. [smoke is rising from the houses]
I ran away
Yeah, I agree. If these dreamy, heavy guitar sounds from the outro had featured in the intro and AIMH as well, it would have made for a better sound.

Charlie17
Yeah, in Logic Pro X, in the new alchemy synthesizer, the preset is called something like "alchemist choir." I was very suprised to realize Coldplay used a preset on a commercial virtual synth. The voice(s) from another's arms are also in there
I ran away
So it's not something Coldplay made ? That explains why there never was an indication of who the woman was who actually sang this. I always wondered !
Charlie17
i actually think Chris Martin suggested it was his daughter apple. that's who i thought it was. but it's a sampled voice in an additive synthesizer.
I ran away
Really ? I never got the impression that this was implied to be Apple (and the voice imho fits to a woman, not a girl), I understood it's the first line in the outro "Don't ever let go" before Chris in falsetto repeats that line two times. And Moses is on Anothers Arms for one line iirc. What I never got is where that girl friend of Apple, who is supposed to have participated, can be heard...? I think in the choir of O at the end of the song, here voice might be blending in with Apple's and Chris's voice, that's why we can't hear it properly

Chris joked that it was Oprah Winfrey. But yes, in that outdo, you can definitely tell that a number of voices, including chris's and what sounds to be a female have been processed to become a single, incredibly beautiful androgynous falsetto. EasySuperstition99
My fault man I forgot to download the whole Alchemy library. You genius you!!!! P. S. I think it's so awesome that they used that choir on Always in my head + O. But i trying to figure out how they did it cause when you play the notes it has higher octaves layed and it doesn't on the actual tracks.
Charlie17
I'll show you. You can isolate individual notes or elements of a mixed recording with Melodyne. It's not perfect, but with something like a choir preset, melodyne wouldn't have trouble separating the individual voices in a polyphonic synth preset. Things get messier when you try separating an entire song including percussion elements, and instruments that overlap each other in terms of fundamental frequency. Charlie17
This was interesting. So when I played a very standard Cmaj triad with this preset, the "what about me," vocal synth preset used in Always in My Head, the actual notes contained within the patch are C-E-G-B-D-F, which you might call a Cmaj13, or a Cmaj7/9/11/13 or something like that. Cmaj7add11 maybe. I'm not much into chord nomenclature. here's what it looks like visually when passed through Melodyne. And with melodyne, I have access to each note individually if I want to remove it or change its pitch without affect the other notes' pitches. Charlie17
Can you upload the project file? I'm getting better but i am a non-technical person. Lost me at "upload." Haha. But seriously. What is it you're asking? I'm sure I'm not the only guy or gal on here with Logic Pro X. Or even the soft synth Alchemy before they were bought and integrated into Logic by Apple. It's the preset, "alchemist's choir."
loco23
I think Chris Martin's daughter is the one that sings "Don't ever let go" But omg good work finding the patch. I thought patches like the ones used in Coldplay albums were specifically designed custom made just for the band.

I think you're right, and Chris' voice is certainly blended in there, especially in the word "don't." I fully believe, however, that other vocal patches on the record are also from alchemy presets though. Could be wrong, but another's arms sounds like a combination of a few. Not that that song seems to get many people excited.
