Coldplay misunderstood lyrics

Featured Replies

I'm sure we all misunderstood a least a few lines of some Coldplay songs, even if English is your native language :laugh4:

So I think it would be fun for us to write down a line of lyrics we heard, and a line of what is actually said

For example, I heard:

"And even if your aims are shadows, still we're never gonna part"

and it's actually

"Even in your rains and shadows, still we're never gonna part "

Nice idea for a thread !

I get what you are saying but I don't see a difference between the two lines. I think you made a mistake :)

I used to mishear this line:

"I don't want to be a soldier

Who the captain of some sinking ship

Would stow, far below"

I thought it was this:

"I don't want to be a soldier

Or the captain of some sinking ship

Would go, far below"

I always thought it was:

''How can people struggle, how can people part

how can people struggle, how can people break your heart?''

But it has to be;

''How come people suffer, how come people part

how come people struggle, how come people break your heart?''

Mine is from A Message....the opening line is.....

My song is love

I thought it was....

My song is long

That's what I was thinking. I had to read the line quite a few times to see what was different!

Exactly, me too.

Before I looked up the lyrics, in "Us against the world" I used to sing

My uncle has a Daniel in a lion's den

Instead of

My drunken hazard daniel in a lion's den.

I still find that sentence so weird.

Your 1st line.....so funny!

I also find that sentence weird. I am from the U.S and have no clue what a drunken hazard Daniel is

the one for A Message made me laugh for some reason :laugh3:

and i first thought it was "and in the light, just DREAMS"

and i was like, did he really just use dreams and then use it again in the chorus??? but i was wrong :P

I absolutely love Chris's British accent, but sometimes I can't always understand him. [emoji6][emoji636]

oh, i remembered another one!

in I Ran Away:

I'm gonna come on out

And burn the sky

and i didn't necessarily think this was the actual line, but i couldn't make out what he did say so my brain replaced "burn the sky" with "murder style" which i seemed to think was hilarious because of Chris's lack of fashion sense (as if i don't dress basically the same way he does ) :P

Sometimes I think that line sounds like "I'm drunken as a Daniel in a lion's den." That would make much more sense than a "drunken hazard Daniel." :D

Haha, you're right. But I'm sure hè sings "My...''

Lol

i think it's a grammar issue, like maybe

My drunken hazard: Daniel in a lion's den

even though it doesn't 100% make sense to me still :P

Jack Daniels is a whiskey brand, so I related that to it but I can be miles away... [emoji3]

I always think it has to do with that but I never got that line[emoji23]

I always used to understand "shouldn't I pull off my head" instead of "shoot an apple off my head" in Clocks.

Oh and in Birds until a few weeks I ago I thought it was "STOP falling in love, STOP the riot" instead of START[emoji23]

Fits coldplay's message a lot better this way though..

 that's a good connection :P

it's some sort of bible reference, but i sure don't know what it's supposed to mean. these are the real pressing questions interviewers should have been asking :P

It would be interesting to know.

Who knows what we've been singing for all those years. [emoji3]

Oh wow, I wanted to start a thread like this before, but never got to actually doing it :)

I used to mishear the line "sitting with the poison takes away the pain" as

"sitting with boys, it takes away the pain".

Oh and there's another one, I heard:

We said forever, forever I'll waste

when it's

We said forever, forever always.
