  • Finally a new album from the band! Haven't heard the full album yet, just the 3 pre-released songs and they're great.

+1000000000000 Plus, if he keeps his promise, he won't write about himself so...big change indeed!

And I agree with you, the less you know, the better the surprise...! But I know myself, I'm just soooo curious, I can't help reading ITV and stuff... :shame:

I really hope he'll write from the studio more often that what he's been blogging lately....(he's our R#42 after all... :P) Now we have to wait patiently...*hum*...Hopefully we'll have some videos from Brazil soon!!

haha...that's quite true of me too. at the end of the day i'll probably end up reading whatever's up on TTB or here.

btw, there is a R#42 for SP...sort of...not on an official capacity or anything...from 2005-2006 @ http://atnz11.blogspot.com/

(i'm still slowly taking my own sweet time reading thru it even tho i found it a few months ago)

& i SO love this photo on the blog! hahahaha (frigging lucky girl!!! :bomb: ...i'd be blushing to that shade of red too if that were me!!!)

/BUMP!!

Nice ITV from Brazil with gL and Pablo <3 (and the return of the Elwood t-shirt...XD)

I like Gary's comment on people asking songs during show and him panicking because he don't remember how to play it... But it's nice how they keep playing songs that people asked for...

And Pablo lurks on websites.... :wink3:

[/url]

cool! tho the website's being an arse & insisting i install Silverlight just to watch the interview... :inquisitive:

& i think that's another thing that makes the experience more intimate...playing random songs just cos someone's requested for it. shows he noticed the fan's effort (in the case of a sign) or he's paying attention to the audience. :D

anyway, i bet the guys lurk around on a lot of websites. i remember there was a video of a little boy & girl who got to perform on stage with the band for i think it was Set Fire To The Third Bar at a gig just cos Jonny stumbled on a video of them on YouTube & the guys loved it (according to Gary's banter in the video i saw).

I post this here cause what this guy said about gL's songwriting is exactly what I think, I couldn't have said it better.

I totally +10000000000000000000000000 the following quote

I listen to these tracks and can’t help but break down and cry. How is that someone I don’t know understands exactly what is in my heart? And shows me places in it that magnify this feeling? Places that I didn’t know existed? This is why music is so amazing.

That's EXACTLY how I feel when listening to a very few artists (this includes SP, Coldplay, TP, Jeff Buckley...)

Thanks!!! Funny to read even it's from 2006. And as I see the guy worked also for the Doves!

I would have blushed and smile stupidly just like her XD

(btw, I was thankfull for the cold after the TP show cause I was so freezing, I didn't blushed..XD but that was not the case the day before...lol My friend said to me she knew it was indeed gL in the restaurant when she saw me turned as red as my nailpolish..XDD)

Yeah, I had to install it too to view the vid..:/

+1000 But we have to choose 'simple' songs (so PPP: one line, perfect for the goldfish memory :D) OR make a sign like 'please play Warmer climate, I've printed the lyrics for you'... :P

And think of this girls...they're now in LA, ready to start working on the new album :awesome: (ok, right now they must be still hangover...lol)

I more than agree. Music is just, the most wonderful creation in the world. Especially Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Damien Rice.... oh, I could go on for hours. :D

With arwen88 we were talking the other day about how irish songwriters were true poets with a big heart and feets on the ground: gL of course, Damien Rice, Glen Hansard, Iain Archer, Bono...Ireland has all the best  !!

gL from Bangor says: YEAH, IRISH SONGWRITERS RULES!

5089249275_2097226d52_z.jpg

(pic from the brazilian show)

, They really do! I realized recently that about 80% of my favorite musicians are Irish. They know their music. :D

hey guys, just a quick update, our plane ran out of fuel and i’m stuck in the Falklands.

There is no aircraft fuel in the Falklands at the moment, they are expecting the next delivery in 3 days time!

I’m sharing a room with Pablo so i’m quite happy, we have plenty of lube. He has just got out of the bath (tin bath) and looks very sultry. He’s oiled his gonads. He has washed his hair (again).

We will be playing at the local pub later, hopefully there will be some sheep about when we finish as Pablo is getting a bit baggy.

anyways up yours you lot. You all stink of piss in my opinion.

Gary x

:laugh3: Yeah, that's GaryL. (note that the point after the L is important XD), it's the fake one on the old SP forum (btw, people still posting on that one.... I never understood why they haven't shut it down when the new one was put up...

After gL and Pablo, here's a brazilian ITV with Jonny and Tom (HATE when they dub interviews :/) Nothing new under the sun but Tom's got an haircut :D

Same with me XD When I hear sthg that I like on the radio, 80 % of the time it's from UK/Ireland... I think that the music there is more orignal and 'melodic'... Dunno how to explain it, but each instrument can be heard indivually, it's not 'all goes at once' in a big 'whom-whom' like when you hear in US rock bands like Linkin park or stuff like that... (dunno if that make sense...)

As for the XFM book, I hope my copy will arrive soon (but with the strikes, who knows... :dozey: ). I'll tell you if they're some funny details on SP ones ^^

Well, with all the corruption and shit coming out in the American music industry, it's hard to like a lot of American artists anymore. Soon, it's going to be nothing but Britney Spears and Lady Gaga. :dozey:

There are a few greats out there who've avoided the idea of making music just for the money (Jason Mraz is the first and best example that comes to mind), but not many. So I mean, I didn't force myself into liking mostly artists from the UK/Ireland, it just happened that way. Their music has meaning.

I recogn that the 'general' radio out there seems to don't let much space to rock/alternativ/indie rock.... It's kinda the same here but since we have 'quota' that force airwaves to play french music, the crap is divided by 2  There are a very few stations here that play good stuff...

Come on, the indie US scene is good! RCHP, KOL, The Killers, Cold war kids, The white stripes, Gossip, Maroon5, the Dandy Wharols, Explosions in the sky, The Strokes, Tori Amos...those are good bands!

But back on topic... From the brazilian show, startin with birthday boy

Slap me girl, I forgot to mention God (aka Jeff Buckley) in my list  :whip: (but for my defence, I was thinking of band...not singers...XD)

Just for fun, here a bit of Make this go on forever @the Brazilian show (awesome note kept by gL at the beginning :stunned: ) but you can here the girl filming singing badly through the song, it's priceless and it reminded me of me during gig (for that, I apologize to the people who have been near me during gigs... :shame: )

Oh, Maroon 5 is one of my favorite bands. They're fantastic. The Killers are pretty great too. But other than that, I can't think of any. :D

And great pictures! :wacky:!

firstly, i'm not much of a Pablo fan (in terms of looks...personality wise he's such a soft spoken sweetie! :wacky: ), but that's quite a good looking shot of him!

& that Wherefore Art Thou Pablo banter always cracks me up!

the "lucky bunk" on the tour bus & Pablo's face palm reaction! :laugh3:

btw, isn't Jonny just looking might dapper in his Reworked get up? :wink3:

guess it's the same for me...i'd say about 80% of the bands that i like/love are from the UK & a fair share of them are Irish. U2, SP, Boyzone, Westlife, The Corrs, Cranberries, Damien Rice (& yes, i have my fair share of guilty pop pleasures...RE: Boyzone & Westlife. :P). but also like a few US bands...& Linkin Park happens to be one of them. haha

anyway, you're right in that there's a different sound between most of the US & UK bands' stuff. Linkin Park, in general, are more angsty & heavier sounding & in most of their albums have heavy DJ effects-y mixing stuff (no idea what's the proper name for what DJ Joe Hahn does) going on...tho their recent 2 albums have a number of much much mellower songs (Leave Out All The Rest, Hands Held High, Waiting For The End, Iridescent).

tho i do also think that the US has some greats: Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen, REM, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins. for the lesser known or indie bands, there's The National (England!!! Conversation 16!!!), The All-American Rejects (My Paper Heart = ), Lifehouse. oyah...& there's Jason Mraz. Sufjan Stevens too.

He seems like a really great guy to hang out with but yeah, I'm not attracted to him either.

I think he'd be a great guy friend. :D

The new album from former Kinks singer Ray Davies is out the first week of November in Europe. It's a collaborative record, featuring Davies reworking Kinks classics with the help of a star studded line-up including the Lightbody :D

Here's a little vid of our favorite frontman in the studio with Davies (guess what tee he's wearing.. )

Nice choice of song, gL looks tired xD

Still on the collaboration side, Nathan plays guitar on the new Ricky Warwick song called 'The whiskey song' XD “The Whiskey Song is a never say die song, sang with a never say die raw Belfast gusto.” quoting Ricky.

Too bad we don't see Nathan on the music video :/
