I was standing in first class waiting to get to my seat for my flight from NYC back to LA when I look up and make eye contact with none other than Chris Martin, who was sitting with his kids. He smiled at me, but I was so starstruck I don't even think I managed to smile back. When I got to my seat and our flight spent 45 minutes on the tarmac in line to take off I decided I had nothing to lose and wanted to write him a little note, especially since I had just seen Coldplay perform last week. In the middle of the flight I approached a group of flight attendants and asked if they could please pass my note along to him because it would mean a lot to me. One of them did (shout out to the Delta team) and he came back to report that Chris had been very nice about it. A little while later I felt a tapping on my shoulder. I took out my headphones and looked up...Chris was standing right there!!! He came all the way to the very back of the plane to personally introduce himself, thank me for my "sweet note" which he "will definitely keep," and to chat for a minute about the new album. Then he gave me this button. I was stammering like a fool because I was so overwhelmed with joy and I'm still high on the excitement of the incident. What a stand-up guy who genuinely cares about his fans! He made my year.
