The live version is really better than the album version. Apart from that, I find it deplorable that the great part "When I'm cooold coooooooold oh when I'm cold cuuuuuuuoooold"is buried in this boring Shania Twain style pop ballad. Could have made so much more of it.

Guess we disagree on this point. I actually think POC is a pretty good pop song - I do not forget how it stood out from the rest to me on the radio during a time when I never even had heard of the word "Coldplay" (and was thus entirely unbiased).

Changed my mind a bit after a few more listens to the entire album. Here's my new rating: 1. AHFOD - 3/10 (Live - 5/10) 2. Birds - 5/10 3. HFTW - 2/10 4. Everglow - 1/10 5. AOAL - 1/10 6. Fun - 5/10 7. Kaleidoscope - 1/10 8. Army Of One - 0/10 9. XMTS - 1/10 10. Amazing Day - 2/10 11. Colour Spectrum - 1/10 12. Up&Up - 1/10 I don't follow too many contemporary artists; most of it is not to my taste. Other than Coldplay, I mainly listen to classical music and select songs from a variety of artists. Probably the band with most songs on my playlist after Coldplay is Pink Floyd. But as I said, I'm really picky about music. After a few listens to AHFOD as a whole, I must admit I think it's more original than Army Of One. At least the "So I race for iiittt" part is cool. Army Of One, on the other hand, is probably the most forgettable song in Coldplay history.

Fun has grown on me a lot. I didn't like it initially, but it grew on me really quickly. Sure, it has a lot of pop tropes and is a tad overproduced, but I love the melancholy vibe it gives off and the lyrics. This is a true breakup song for me. Together with Birds, my own personal highlight of AHFOD. Come on just listen to it :D The quality of the leak is not that bad, its pretty decent !

Also, I thing the lyrics are beautiful (at least those that I can understand).

If people let us, we will for the most part stick to this thread and not bother anyone. I think somebody screencaptured a rating to express disbelief at the high ratings, is that a bad thing ? Oldplayers and Newplayers don't seem to understand one another's point of views, so that's a natural reaction. This thread was made for (apart from the reminiscing/revisiting older videos etc. part) the purpose of being able to say your opinion without getting hated on being so "negative about Coldplay" etc. But unfortunately we do get quite a few "visitors" recently who come here expressly to tell us how awful X&Y was (see two posts above) or to make fun of people who stated they don't like the band as they are now (see a few weeks ago). Come on, what's the point of doing that other than deliberately annoying us. Live and let live !

Look, I really think you are not an Oldplayer in the sense that most people in this thread are. I have the impression you don't feel this difference we feel between listening to a pre-Viva/Viva song compared to post-Viva. It's Ok, some people don't understand/"sense" that difference. I sometimes cannot understand how that is possible, but I've seen it so often that I know it does happen. No, the majority of the people in this thread don't like their new style. And this thread is obviously full of nostalgia about the early stuff and negativity about the new stuff. Is this a bad thing ? If you think it is, you should maybe really just not visit the thread.

I think not everybody compares it to Oldplay stuff, but maybe also to other current chart music (which is crap). And then there are those who love EVERYTHING that Coldplay puts out just because it says Coldplay - I can't understand that either. Fandom should have a healthy sense of criticism, too.
