  1. Read about the new snippets only now an listened to them. My take on the song: From what I've heard I don't like it too much, it goes into the much-dreaded bland direction. That's my personal opinion from hearing the snippets. Is it from AHFOD ? Perhaps not. Think about it, Global Citizen keeps going on about how this day will be great with many people united against poverty etc etc. What would fit more than a song specially written for this event that says "amazing day, amazing day..." ? If Coldplay have written songs specially for departing Radio DJs, the surely can write something for an anti-poverty festival that Chris is the 15 year curator of.
  2. LOL, I feel with you
  3. Yeah, the band is very centered on Chris. Which was actually OK when Chris was still that sentimental young guy insecure about life, love, the future and genuinely astonished at their success. But now, I feel Chris has been living the celeb lifestyle along with his friends being big pop acts too long to actually feel or show that kind of insecurity and melancholy of his earlier days again. Its funny that GS actually had the goal of being an intimate record, but for some reason failed to evoke that atmosphere of genuine and raw emotions of the Oldplay times. And it would be interesting indeed to find out how the other members feel about it. Especially Jonny and Will, I have a feeling they would be the kind of persons who are probably not 100% behind the new direction. Thanks !
  4. It is ! Truzzzzzzzt me, my uncle's wife's second niece removed heard it from an anonymous source close to the band.
  5. Thanks, don't worry too much about it ! :)
  6. Lana del rey's voice just fits heavy, melancholic strings and horns, and I hope to hear some on AHFOD....
  7. You knw what, I think that Coldplay do best when they don't have a collaboration. But if there were to be a collaboration with a female singer on AHFOD like Rihanna on MX, i want it to be Lana Del Rey.
  8. Wow, good job for finding the new leaked Coldplay video ! Chris's falsetto here is amazing, it sounds so female-like !
  9. Miracles has been struck by lightning and fallen into a puddle in the dirt, and Ink and Moses are currently tied for second place. Hiwever, since I feel strongly about this one I decided to change my 2nd vote from Magic to Ink, so Ink wakes up and its not alright cause there's really something broken inside. So in Round 4, these are the contenders: Brothers and Sisters Shiver Yellow Trouble Don't Panic In My Place The Scientist Clocks God Put A Smile Upon Your Face Moses Speed of Sound Fix You Talk The Hardest Part What If White Shadows Violet Hill Viva La Vida Lovers in Japan Lost! Life in Technicolor ii Strawberry Swing Lhuna Christmas Lights Every Teardrop is a Waterfall Paradise Charlie Brown Up with the Birds/U.F.O. Hurts Like Heaven Atlas Magic Midnight I vote for Magic and Lhuna
  10. Which one was that ?
  11. It's so difficult (and I think What If should have been among the finslists...), I really need to listen to them again carefully and think about it. But I'm already sure I don't want Talk to be eliminated ! #SaveTalk
  12. I explain what i meant with "dancing all night" being a worrysome lyric to me. I don't mind that Coldplay songs may be danceable, but if you explicitly make a lyric out of it it might suggest something in the same vein as ETIAW and featuring the "oh we're all so happy let's dance for the rest of our lives mindset" that comes with it, which is something I hope the new album will not (or at elast not exclusively) be about. That's it.
  13. Well said !! "We can dance all night" is a worrysome lyric, though...please no
  14. Agree with you, a long hiatus is all we can hope for. Maybe they'll become a little nostalgic about the rock sound of their early years and revisit it in the far future. Yesterday I saw an interview with Will and Chris during the Parachutes Tour. The hostess asked, What is it that people like/enjoy in your music ? See Will's response at approx. 3.50 [video=youtube;OSDK3D5bcI4] "it's not flashy, not overproduced...good melodies, good songs and no bullshit" In other words, the total opposite of MX.
  15. Yes, it it. Also, I have the feeling that songs were Coldplay/Chris felt genuinely uncertain about their future, doubtful if they'll make it and worryng about tlife were the best. A common theme of doubt about one#s place in life runs through all early EPs and the first 3 albums.
  16. I like that, too ! I believe it started with 1.) critics unfairly ripping apart X&Y, hence the desire of the band to change, which resulted in getting... 2.) Brian Eno on board, and then at the same time.... 3.) Chris's shifting tastes in music and, as has been pointed out, increasing friendship and collaboration with big pop/rap acts of the time
  17. Oh dear. I love both Speed of Sound and Talk, but since it seems to come down to a decision between them...I change my initial vote (Square One) to Speed of Sound #SaveTalk
  18. Glastonbury 2002. Listen to this. When, oh when did they decide to replace those awesome guitar atmospheres between and before songs with today's sugarsweet-synth-pop warbling ? [video=youtube;jGVnRE6zfjs]
  19. In White Shadows, it says "things you never understand" => Things I Don't Understand I wanna emphasize one thing though. I believe most of these things are not actual and deliberate references to other songs, but the results of Chris being preoccupied with the same themes and phrases during a certain time.
  20. Hm, I would have thought AHFOD will be more of a summer album than a winter album, if you know what I mean. Unless the label wants it out for Christmas shopping, in which case a late November release would make sense.
  21. And the title of that song will be Car Kids.
  22. Funny, I always thought that too and you are the first person to confirm my notion. Yes, Viva was the last Era during which they looked somewhat young.
  23. Hm, I wonder how much extra they had to pay to their ticket for these 15 seconds handshaking with Chris and the guys. Or was this something you could win ?
