From Politik, A Rush of Blood to the Head, Talk, What If or really any other song out of X&Y :D Or "Things I don't understand" ! Whatever it will sound like, I hope they return to the strong melodies of the AROBTTH and X&Y (and VLVODAAHF) Era. I don't like songs that lightly "float" around without seemingly going anywhere (for example Always in my head, Miracles, Gone but not F. Cotton) - Chris used to be one of the greatest melodists in contemporal rock/pop music (imho) so I hope he gets a grip on himself and starts using this talent again. Personally, i hope for a rockier sound like on AROBTTH or X&Y, but I guess that won't happen. Judging by the latest releases, I still fear the sound will be...........bland.

Great to hear something fresh from Coldplay, (and did this song remind anyone of a Beatles song btw, esp. the first line ? For me, it did !) but you know what I don't like about this song ? - Chris's voice, to my ears as irritating as in Ghost Stories and parts of MX. Where did the clarity and beauty go to ? Thought a singer's voice might change when he gets to his fifties or something, but not so much between 31 (VLVODAAHF) and 37/38 (GS and this)...? I wonder if his vocal chords have been too strained and are now damaged for good. - Until GS, Coldplay had great, great melodies in their songs - think of the ones of X&Y or VLVODAAHF, for example ! Now most of the songs just seem to "float" on without a strong melody, and this one, again, is no exception. Though hope remains that they'll keep better melodies for LP7. I know this is just a personal song for somebody and not an album song etc., but still....when i hear GS, Miracles and then this new stuff I can't help the feeling that Coldplay as we used to know them are gone forever. (What I do like very much though: real drums, and there's a Parachutes-like vibe to the song, yeah :parachutes:)

So i watched the final right now. Couldn't decide on a favorite, somehow none of the songs really clicked with me, i thought Italy, Estonia and Lithuania were not bad. Of course I rather noticed that Coldplay was mentioned twice, at least in the german broadcasting: - noting the similarities between the Makemakes' song and Coldplay, presumably the Scientist (i do think that structure and chorus melody are very similar actually...) - apparently the winner from Sweden is on his albums influenced by John Mayer and Coldplay And the final question is: Why does Germany always choose uninspiring candidates ? OK, of course this year it was actually Germany's second choice on stage, but for the last years this can't be taken as an excuse...

why not promote it in the chatbox once in a while, Spraycan ? And how many entries do we have do far ?

Hi, i thought I'd open a thread to discuss the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 which is conducted in Vienna this week. First off here's a question: What's your opinion on the Austrian entry and its undeniable structural as well as, in parts, melodical similarity to the Scientist ?

I agree, he seems very fond of it and don't think it is related to LP7, although it may be indicative of Chris's mood these days. He's probably consciously embracing and displaying a positive outlook on life after getting over the falling-apart of his marriage.

I didn't say directly related, and I didn't say I believe LP7 is now gonna feature girls in front of mics moving to backing vocals or something, but i believe even if you are writing comedy songs they will inevitably be subtly influenced by what you are working with right now....and there were brass instruments featured as well...

oh my goodness ! So this is "Still going strong" written by Coldplay ? not my style at all, hope it is not in the slightest an indicator of LP7. Also, I am rather partial - if Coldplay write something, then I want it to be....

Yeah, i'll have no time to watch it unfortunately even if there was a stream, so it would be great if someone would record it ! As for the teaser, OMG, now this awful melody is stuck in my head ! RUM DUM DUDUM DUDUBUDUBUDUM DUM DUDUM Hope this is not the style of LP7 LOL :D
