CP FANS around the world
Very true ! My heart usually breaks at "When you're too in love to let it go", especially due to the awesome vocal dynamics in this line ("too in love" very low and vulnerable, and "let it gooooo" just ringing out). It also comforts me in tough times.

Coldplaying Asks Coldplay: it's YOUR TURN to ask the question! (CLOSED: find out the winning questio
I hope this is the winning question. I'd love to hear answers from the guys about this, as they try to work out what the hell it means ;) Oh and Batman, I'd love to hear your crazy and overboard questions :D

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Why do you buy several copies, is it really for the reasons Batman stated ? I will listen to it first, and not sure if I will buy it or not. Also, nvdmm has a good point ! They really do have more than enough cash, so it might be a good idea to listen online and donate the money to charity organizations, especially if you don't like it too much. Think about what sums would go to charity if a large proportion of Coldplayers, especially those who are not into their new stuff, do this and donate. Imho better than more money pouring down EMI's and the guys' already bursting bank accounts. (And Chris is very committed to charity, too, so he wouldn't mind :)) And if you need a physical copy (I love them and have all albums before MX + all live CD/DVDs), buying second-hand saves lots of money ! All of my discs are second-hand.

What was your first encounter with Coldplay
Hi howyousawtheworld, I'd love to watch that performance, but unfortunately I can't, even with a Proxy is says "this uploader has not made this video available for your country...", even if I put UK as the proxied IP adress. Any idea ? There seems to be no other recording of this on YT.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
A comment on "Oldplay" (This post is directed primarily to other "Oldplay" fans like me ;)) Certainly, it is deplorable to see this once so wonderful band choose the path that they have chosen and that looks as if it is going to lead straight into musical mediocrity and blandness, and certainly it is deplorable that Chris has changed from that quirky nerd that he was both in concerts and interviews to someone who now appears much more serious and confident (in a way that imho does not fit him), and certainly it is deplorable that the band now seem to be nearly always apart with Chris living far away from the others, and in summary it is deplorable that the band in 2015 just are not the same as the band when they were at their prime in 2000-2008... but I recently thought, well, that's the way it is ! It is sad because to me it is a ton of wasted potential and talent (that I believe they have but don't use !) But whenever we think about AHFOD...well, let's see ! We don't have to buy it, we can choose. And if we don't like AHFOD or the "newer" Coldplay stuff in general, well we still have 4 great albums, lots of brilliant B-sides...I got to know Coldplay too late to actively witness their prime, but fortunately there is lots of concert footage etc. too watch. Think of all the lovely songs they have given us, and while it is sad to see that apparently that's it and no more are coming, they are really a lot and even if the band decide to go Justin Bieber pop tomorrow, no one is gonna take those old songs away ! They will eventually become classics, and maybe it will be as with Pink Floyd, who released some groundbreaking albums in their earlier and middle career phase but in the general opinion did not release anything noteworthy after The Wall...things like that happen with bands. Long time ago, someone in this thread mocked that one should clutch on to AROBTTH etc. and listen to it instead of being whiney about the new releases. Well, that will be just what I'm going to do if AHFOD turns out as we fear it will turn out musically, and proudly so. :D

Random Coldplay thoughts...
Recently saw an eBay offer that only said "Coldplay 2 CD", and when I clicked on it, in the description instead of stating the albums' real titles it just said: 1. Fallschirme 2. Ein Ansturm von Blut in den Kopf :D :D :D (a literal german description of Parachutes and AROBTTH...Parachutes was correct at least, while the AROBTTH translation sounds weird...I'd prefer "Ein Rausch von Blut in den Kopf" or, more freely translated, "Ein Anstieg von Blut bis zum Kopf", for the german language speakers around :P) Glad they wrote Coldplay at least and not "Kaltspiel" (oh, that does sound weird too !!) ;)

42 Coincidence? I Think Not!
Often when I check the time when I'm sitting late at night at the computer, it is exactly 1.36 ! It has to mean something. And I know what it means. It means I'm too Coldplay-obsessed :P

Oh, all right. Sorry to hear that. Second-hand CDs, like I buy them, usually are very cheap (although of course I don't know if this is true for the Philippines too, I can only speak of Europe), but they may be rare, I don't know. Sent you a PM, please check :-)

Thanks ! Oh, why, can't you get one where you are ? Actually I bought mine used. Because I have all the stuff already as MP3s but the actual feeling of holding that case in your hand and putting the disc in the player is a different one, that's why I buy the discs now.

[X10Y] - Share your personal X&Y story !
Hi fellows, since we are currently (alright, actually tomorrow :D) celebrating the 10 year anniversary of this great album, I was curious to hear what your "X&Y Story" is. In which ways do you connect to it ? Do you associate it with a certain feeling, event or period in your life ? When did you first hear it ? I'll start with mine: In fall/winter 2011 I had never ever heard the name "Coldplay", even though I had unknowingly already heard VLV, Paradise and Talk on the radio. I had liked Talk for years, but didn't know or even care who it was by at that time. I came across Speed of Sound a while later on Youtube and immediately loved it, it got forever connected with a major exam I had in this time. When some time later I explored the world of Coldplay and listened to all albums in a row on Youtube, I recognized Talk again. What If and Fix you also immediately stuck with me, and I still associate some of the songs like A Message or Fix You strongly with a summer evening as dusk creeps up because that was when I first heard the album. It was the summer and fall of 2014, which was a very difficult time for me, and every morning I had to go to a job that I hated - for the work itself, for the unfriendly atmosphere, for everything. Knowing I had to go there every day regularly brought tears to my eyes, and every morning on the bus I listened to X&Y, because the lyrics of many, many songs resonated strongly with me ! I felt forever "stuck in square one", I was really "so tired but couldn't sleep" and so on. X&Y, especially Square One, What If, and Fix You were a big source of comfort to me in difficult times, and I'll never forget it. When I was angrier, I'd listen to Low and it made me calm down. I am grateful it exists.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
To be honest, I will listen to it first online and then decide if I'll buy it or not. I know I am one of the more critical fans, and I really don't like the direction they've been going to lately so, as much as I love this band, I will not buy it just because it is Coldplay. Also, I don't think it is a wrong or bad thing to have high expectations. To me, this sets them apart from the great ocean of other bands in the world: They have done awesome stuff in the past, they are very talented and if they wanted to, they could make exactly what I wanted to hear ;) No other band or musician has managed to capture my heart with their music as they did. So yes, I do think highly of them.

Now Idolator defends X&Y! Is it finally "cool" to like Coldplay?
Honestly, I don't get it why X&Y did not receive favorable reviews and is still often badly looked upon. Do melodies nowadays count nothing in assessing music ? X&Y is melodic Coldplay in its prime, I agree that AROBTTH is the better album because it has a better flow but there is hardly any single disc that has so many single great tracks as X&Y ! Just think of the timeless melodies of White Shadows, Fix you, Talk, Speed of Sound, What If, The hardest part...and then of course Jonny's incredible atmospheric texture ! I admit I'm a rather melody-driven music listener though, maybe other people are less so. For me, there is nothing worse than music that just floats, has no worthwhile melody and songs that go nowhere (Hence my dislike for tracks like AIMH, for example) And "What If" and "A Message" are just filling tracks ? Did this guy ever close his eyes and listen intently to them ? There's so much emotion and feeling to be found in nearly all of X&Ys songs (for me, weaker points are only the tracks X&Y, Swallowed in the Sea and Till Kingdom Come, but even they are still pretty good !) So, in summary: "I'll say it loud and clear" I'm glad my X&Y disc is here ! :x&y:
