All legendary bands are populist. That's part of what makes them legendary. That's not the issue here. The issue is them being commercially driven and relevancy based because "Authentic music could sell in 2002 but now people want vapid lyrics and self-serving collaborations" That's not doing what they want to do because they really want to make songs like Amazing Day. It's them doing it because it will keep them relevant and appeal to teenagers.

I don't hate it. My expectations were very low so I was pleasantly surprised when I heard a riff and a funky groove. Can all the Oldplayers agree it's a step up from ASFOS at least? As far as the album goes, I'm really happy to see Noely G there. The fact he even associated himself with the album would tell me it's going to be okay at the very least. I'm an occasional lurker on Oasis forums and I can only imagine the vitriol this is going to receive. The contempt for Coldplay in those quarters is unbelievable. Beyonce can drive off a cliff  No doubt the POC of this album. Is the Gwyneth "Yoko Ono" Paltrow thing confirmed? (Please no)

Is "Dance, Dance, Dance. My heartbeat beats" and "Stars, Stary, Stars in the stary, amazing, sky" really bigger and better things? Lyrically speaking absolutely not when compared with the likes of AROBTTH and VLV. I don't think Chris should go solo either, but it certainly is a valid opinion and one that should be respected. Not "just wrong" like you stipulate. Oasis fans probably rang a similar tune when Noel went solo and look at the albums he released. Infinitely better than anything he did with Oasis post Morning Glory.

Yeah, same here. I just received an invoice for €0.00 ?

I also don't like the backing vocals. It sounds to me at the moment to be "Too fly, dry" which doesn't belong on a Jay-Z tune, never mind Coldplay. Jonny and Guy make the song.

Except the lyrics are way worse than both those songs. It reminds me a lot of Dance With Me by Walk The Moon and I'm not really sure if this is a good or bad thing. One thing is for sure, Chris's lyrics have really gone downhill since VLV! Jonny's riff sort of makes up for it though.

I can understand that. I think we all knew we were never going to get the soulful, meaningful Coldplay music of AROBTTH :(

I'm very lukewarm to this news. I'm not really sure if I should hate it or not.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Not quite Oldplay (not by a long shot) but immensely better than anything on the last two eras. So many collaborations does make it seem like a circus to be honest. Am I going to be buying a Coldplay album or a world of music (and hollywood actresses) album? Noely G and Merry Clapton are the only ones I approve. Gwyneth Paltrow is ridiculous. I think she gets some sort of perverse pleasure from actively ruining the bands output

I know. This is the most Yoko Ono shit. It sounds ridiculous to be honest... But Noel Gallagher's on the album!

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I'm an Oldplayer and while the song is very "clean sounding" I immediately like it better than most of the songs on GS.

So while we wait on the upcoming single, can I just remind everyone how perfect this song is? [video=youtube;waKvorfmuB8]

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Didn't he say something like the song was nothing like Violet Hill (The riff is reminiscent of it somewhat) and that it wasn't "rocky" ?

I don't care if we get really boring and bland lyrics (a-la amazing day) once the music has a bit of an edge to it. The guitar riff in the snippet made me so proud. Hope the song (and full album) follow a similar vein!

I couldn't care less about chart positions once it's an amazing tune.

Absolutely. Even I, Newplay's harshest critic, was head over heels for the snippet and the psychedelic artwork. Are Coldplay back in business? :D

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Welcome to the wonderful world of internet forums... Really the "we don't know nothing" rhetoric is wearing thin on me. The fact is we know a lot. We know the artwork, a sampler of the lead single and the fact there will be something happening December 4th (Quite obviously the album drop) That is a lot considering the straws we were grasping at a couple of months ago.
