It's because people are focusing on the bad lyrics. All we have to do is look at examples like these, and we realize that their lyrical talent isn't actually gone at all. They just choose to write a couple bad lyrics... for some reason. As for the guitar solos, I think the first one is Jonny's. Remember how they said that they asled Jonny to do a solo like Noel and for Noel to do a solo like Jonny? Well, here's the thing: the first solo doesn't sound like a Jonny solo. Jonny's solo's usually have more repeated notes to them, if you get what I mean. See: Fix You. There's quite a few repeated notes in that one bit. Paradise: same idea. Violet Hill isn't exactly repeated notes, but they stay in the same general range. Everglow is a bit different, Jonny decided to go a different way on that one. But, the first solo doesn't exactly fit the general description I gave of most of Jonny's solos. I haven't really heard any of Noel's solos but I can assume that, because the first one sounds different, that's Jonny's solo because it doesn't seem like something he'd normally do. And, they asked him to do something like Noel (different). The second one is Noel's, because it sounds like a Jonny solo (more staying in a range of the same notes) and as we said before they asked Noel to do a solo like Jonny. Logic follows that the second one is Noel's. Now nothing is confirmed yet, but these are just my thoughts on the solo's. It'd make sense.
2. I agree. Up&Up has the massive sound but the production really limits it. Hymn For The Weekend is soaring, and will most likely be the biggest one on the album, but it isn't Viva or Paradise or ASFOS-soaring. Who knows, maybe Fun might do it. Or, if the title track gets released as a single, maybe that'll do it. But this era definetely feels different from all the others.... it doesn't "fit in" for some reason. It's starting to gain some identity now and I think it's because we need to let it sink in, and it's starting to. But there seems to be something missing from this era. This might just be their wake-up call alerting them to change direction once yet again, even though this is a very experimental album, it still falls in the poppier category and they've been doing that for three albums straight. So I think we can all agree that the general theme of the albums need to change. :D

4. This thread is dieing again.... Coldplay - A Head Full Of Dreams
5. Lol I never really played with any of the tones much either but for drums I actually really find it easy to just tap away on a table or desk or something, like for example when the live version of ASFOS plays I always like dance around and tap to it :D But I still like the tones when they're there because it allows me to play so many more instruments that I don't yet own :D Of course it'll never feel like the real thing though.
6. +: Paradise (12 points) Up With The Birds (12 points) 42 (10 points) -: Major Minus (8 points) 1.36 (8 points) X Marks The Spot (7 points)
7. This is proof that people are focusing on the two whole bad lyrics rather than the good ones. This is proof that there still is very great lyrics in the album. We just need to blot out the negatives. Second bold: I LOVE how they do that. I love that AHFOD lyric, reminds me of that wonderful U.F.O song! I also like how they didn't forget about the magical Ladder To The Sun yet. That's the 4th best song of the X&Y era IMO... HOW DID IT NEVER GET RELEASED??? I tell you, Coldplay makes me some mad sometimes... lol
8. Hey @arushofjacktothehead. You know that massive elimination game where you had to copy and paste that massive list? Well @laxwatcher gave me permission to restart and repost that game in a new thread, under new and improved posting rules! You don't have to copy and paste the whole list anymore. All you have to do is list the songs you add a point to, and list the songs you take away a point from, and put their new point totals beside their respective song titles. Check out more here: http://coldplaying.com/forum/index.php?threads/new-and-improved-elimination-game-of-a-lot-of-coldplay-songs-round-3.105521/#post-5783692
9. Some things I do like about my electric piano, is that for one it's a sampler so really if I want to get really creative I can do so :D I think I did record a few vocal samples. Also, it has a TON of tones. Like, 400 tones. And by that, I mean, you can switch the sound to a grand piano, a mellow piano, an electric piano, even a string piano. And, there's a LOT more tones on there than just piano, you can literally play guitar or violin on my keyboard :D I appreciate that it has so much tones to play with. Like, you can play different sounds on the guitar on your piano when you switch the tones, and there's even just string option on the piano too. It's really cool in that aspect. I haven't even tried about 90% of then LOL
10. !!!!!!! I am going to LOVE Yet So Close when you finished it!!!!! :D About the whole album, I'm already excited for it. :D
11. Am I the only one with a reaaaaaaally bad electric piano :( Those Roland things are awesome. Mine doesn't even have touch sensitivity. :(
12. New thread is up! :D
13. New thread is up everyone! Don't vote here anymore!
14. I guess I may as well open the voting :D Real example people! +: Paradise (11 points) Viva la Vida (11 points) Up With The Birds (11 points) -: 1.36 (9 points) Major Minus (9 points) X Marks The Spot (9 points) ^See? That's literally all you have to do. I take care of the rest. :D
15. ***IMPORTANT*** Read carefully! There are new Voting rules that will make your life a ton easier! I advise against voting in the old way, if you know what I mean! Note: I didn't come up with the idea for this game. @laxwatcher posted Round 2, and allowed me to repost this game under new and improved posting rules, which are mobile-friendly! Hi everyone. This is the NEW AND IMPROVED Elimination Game, of a lot of Coldplay Songs! As a lot of you know, this is a game where pretty much every Coldplay song gets put in the ultimate elimination battle, where one song ultimately comes out on top! NEW: A Head Full Of Dreams songs, including Gone But Not F. Cotton, are INCLUDED! Here's how to play: Each song in the elimination begins with 10 points, as you will see down in the master list below. Take 3 songs you like from the list. Add one point to them each. Take 3 songs you dislike from the list. Subtract one point from them each. As always, your must wait until 3 people have voted before you can vote again. Here's the best part: unlike past elimination games, you don't have to copy and paste the whole list! This is very good news for mobile users, as you will finally be able to play the game without it being a pain. Here's an example vote: +: White Shadows (11 points) Talk (11 points) The Hardest Part (11 points) -: The World Turned Upside Down (9 points) Major Minus (9 points) Everglow (9 points) For purposes of knowing when a song gets eliminated, I do highly recommend you put the current point totals after your vote beside the songs you vote for, so people know if a song gets eliminated. We wouldn't want people to vote for a song that's not in the game anymore and have me come and tell them that the song got eliminated, right? :p But rest assured, scrolling up to the master list, only copying the point total of the songs you're voting for, and putting them beside your post and modifying their total according to your vote will be the hardest thing you have to do. No more copying and pasting this massive list, no more scrolling through that massive list to find the songs you want to vote for, no more fiddling with the colors trying to format it right, no more forgetting to modify the point totals, etc... all you have to do, is put a "plus" sign, list the songs you're giving a point to, add 1 to their point total beside the name of the song, then put a "minus" sign, list the songs you're taking away a point from, and take away 1 point from their point total. That's all the work a vote requires in this new game. Amazing, isn't it?! Wait a second... how are we going to keep track of the point totals for each song???? That's where *THE MASTER LIST* comes in! You're seeing the list below here. I will update this list fairly regularly so you all have something to go off of when casting your votes. This list will have every single point total for every song participating beside it. It will give a visual representation of the last person who voted, in which the songs they added a point to will be marked in green, and the songs they took away a point from will be in red. Essentially, this list will be in the style of one of the "old" votes, which won't include any eliminated songs and will look like the Round 2 version of a vote, essentially. If this is a bit hard to follow, I'm sorry. But hopefully you'll see what we mean when we get into action here :D I will list the name of the last person's vote who I counted. Also, in case they voted again and I didn't count that vote, I will also list the date and time in which that particular vote was casted so there's little to no confusion about what post I'm referring to, and how far back it occured. Note: All songs beginning with "A" (as in A Ghost, not Atlas) don't count the second word's letter and are the first in the "A" section. All songs beginning with "The" are listed in "T". NEW: Added post number. Alright! Here's the MASTER LIST! Please let me know if there's still a point total I missed and didn't change back to 10! Or, if in any of my entries as shown above, if I made a spelling mistake! Or if I put it in the wrong order! Please let me know, I'll be glad to fix it! :D Difference betweeon O and Fly On - You may have noticed that I, while adding songs to the list, decided to seperate Fly On and O, For those of you who haven't caught on yet. Fly On is the piano ballad in the track that lasts almost 4 minutes. O is the part where the choir sings and Chris says "Don't ever let go" through a vocoder. Big difference there, and for anyone new, I just wanted to clarify. :) *RANKINGS* 178. X Marks The Spot 177. Army Of One 176. 1.36 175. Another's Arms 174. Lost+ 173. True Love 172. 16. Same to me when I learned it! :D I don't know. My family has a vast musical background and as such I am able to play different instruments :D I've came up with many parts of songs on piano now.
17. @4:52 LOL
18. EDIT: nevermind, should have looked at the page number, and below that post Can't review Lhuna at the moment, never heard it...
19. @I ran away: Good news! You know that thread with the massive list and you have to copy and paste it all? Well I'm asking @laxwatcher if I can repost that game, so we don't have to copy and paste that massive list. There'll be a master list and it'll be updated by me as new votes come in. Also, if everything does work out... we get to restart the game!!!!! Which means What If will be back! :D More details on how we will vote here: http://coldplaying.com/forum/index.php?threads/elimination-game-of-a-lot-of-coldplay-songs-round-2.94337/page-8
20. @laxwatcher: Please read this! I love this game, unfortunately this thread has died. I would LOVE for it to continue. I know why this game isn't getting much attention, and I have a solution to revive this game. May I have your permission to restart and repost this game under new rules? I know I'd normally ask you to change them but this thread isn't getting any attention and I feel that people will still be under the impression that this is under the old rules so they won't vote. There has been a problem with this game: People aren't voting. And it isn't because this game is a bad idea. In fact, this is one of the best games imagined on here. However, here's why people aren't voting: most people use mobile now. And there isn't enough people on desktops interested to keep the game going. The problem with mobiles is: Well, as you can see, what we're doing is reposting the entire list and coloring the ones we give a point green, and we color the songs red when we take a point away from them. On mobile, you have this tiny screen and it's just not worth going up and down to make sure you did everything correctly. For example, you can easily forget to add a point to a song you like, or forget to shade it green. It also isn't easy to color text on a phone, or tap it over and over to get the line in the right spot. People aren't voting because, on mobile, it is a massive pain to repost everything, color green, etc. The New Rule: What I'm thinking to solve this, is that, instead of reposting the whole list, all people would have to do is post saying what three songs they want to add a point to, and what three songs they want to take away a point from. Here's an example: + Paradise (37 points) White Shadows (8 points) Talk (17 points) - Major Minus (3 points) Yes (8 points) 1.36 (10 points) The point number to the right of the song titles indicate what their point total is after that vote. (This is entirely optional) See? That's literally all you have to do. Just type a tiny post that's not even 10 lines long, requires no coloring, and is overall a lot better than copy and pasting the whole entire list. Even with me on my desktop, I sometimes find it hard to copy and paste the entire list, since I got to highlight it all, then I've got to color it, and I've got to remember to not only color it, but also change the point total of that song... it's just a mess to be honest, and I'm sure myself that many people have forgot to change the point total after coloring. Especially the few that did bother to do this on mobile (if there are any of those people). However, this new voting strategy takes a massive load off all our backs. No coloring required. No copy and pasting requied. No more forgetting to change the point totals. No more scrolling up and down constantly trying to find that song you want to add a point to when the list is in your editor. (Well you've got to do that if you're looking at the original post, but at least that'll be minimized when you're in the actual post editor). And, best of all, it's mobile friendly. You may have a question: how will we know the point totals of all of the other songs? Well, what I plan to do is that, in the original post, I'll always be editing this master list and updating the point totals. That'll be the master list that everyone will look off of. There won't be any massive posts down below, and on other pages. You can see their votes in one neat little post, And on my master list, everyone will know the point total of every song. When songs get eliminated, they get added to the grand list of songs and where they rank, just like you're doing in your post. Also, I'll take the last person's vote and format it in a way that'd look exactly like how you'd vote in this thread: The master list would be there in the OP, and the ones that the last person added a point to I'll color green. The ones that they took a point off of I will color red. Just like how we were voting. What about if multiple people vote and the next person voting doesn't know when the last time the list was updated? In case you didn't know yet, the point totals beside the songs are entirely optional. But what I will do is put the name of the last person who's vote I counted in the OP, so everyone knows when I last updated the post. In fact, I'll go as far as to put the time of that post, in case that person votes again before I update the post again. If you're wondering why I want to repost and restart this game: If you want to know why I request your permission to repost this game, it's so people will come to the thread actually wondering what it is. When the people on mobile read the rule change, it's likely they will consider voting. If we don't repost and only decide to change the rules, than the people on mobile will not bother to check this thread, since they're probably going to think that there's mostly nothing new and that it'll still be a game that'll be very difficult for them to vote. Remember, we don't have that chatbox anymore, so we can't make a massive announcement or anything very easily. As for restarting this game, I feel that this game just needs a fresh beginning to continue. The new AHFOD songs can be implemented into the list along with all of the other old songs, so they'll get a fair chance as well since all the point totals will be reset. I think that it'll be okay to implement my ideas that are above me, since I am a fairly common poster and I am quite reliable so I can update the master list after someone votes, and I'll be checking the new thread quite regularly. Everything else can stay the same though. You can only vote after 3 people have voted, you have to choose 3 to add a point to and 3 to take away a point from, etc. I think that this will make the game much more popular, and it will atract the mobile fans as well, since it will be so easy to post and cast your votes. Please, please take my ideas into consideration. This is an absolutely wonderful game, and I'd love for it to continue. I feel that will only happen if my new ideas are put into effect and I can repost it so people would wonder what it'd be about, and then more people would vote because we'll get the new voters from mobile. Do not worry, I am a very common poster on here so I can update the list regularly. Thank you for your time. If you have any other questions, just ask. :)
21. Come on people vote!!!! This thread has gone nowhere since Nov 30 its been 18 or 19 days and the round still isnt over vote now!!!!
22. Really? Did you quote the wrong quote or something? The only one being disrespectful here is @howyousawtheworld. This guy has a valid arguing point here. Avoid talking to @howyousawtheworld then. @ihaveabono is making valid arguments. Let me rephrase that: he doesn't write Oldplay-level music anymore. Ex: The Scientist, Amsterdam, Viva la Vida, etc. He still writes great music. But the magic from the Oldplay era seems to have been lost. :( It's not shockingly bad. It's shockingly unfortunate that they can't do as good as AROBTTH again but it's still good music. Cheesy pop? It must have been a looooooooong time since you listened to the radio. There's not one track from AHFOD that's "cheesy pop" (except Hymn For The Weekend). Sure, there's quite a bit of cheese in Ghost Stories (and I even like that album, I just have to look past it) but your definition of "cheesy" must be reaaaaaaaally strict. You need to fix up your ears. HFTW, XMTS, you're right. AD is a bit cheesy. Fun, not really. It's sad that people are hating on Coldplay just because it's new content. I guarantee you AD would have been a classic if it were released in the AROBTTH era or something. Most of AHFOD is cheesy pop? OMG. FIX YOU EARS. And listen to the radio again. I think you need to know what cheesy pop ACTUALLY is. You have: A Head Full Of Dreams - Mature pop song. Hey... weren't we just talking about U2? Yeah. Birds - This can't be pop. Hymn For The Weekend - My opinion: I like it, strong piano riff. But you're right in the fact, that it is bit cheesy and poppy. However, this is very experimental pop at that, and is in no way comparable to mainstream pop trash, because even this level takes some talent. Everglow - Beautiful little pop ballad, but not cheesy. Adventure of a Lifetime - Some lyrics fall a bit on the cheesy side but as a whole it's not really comparable to mainstream pop crap. Fun - Moving. Not cheesy. Moving. Kaleidoscope - In no way pop. They're trying classical music with this piece. Army of One - Them playing with vocal samples don't mean "cheesy pop". The way they implemented it, it's called "experimentation". Definetely a heavier song. X Marks The Spot - Not even pop, it's more hip-hop, and it's not like they're not talented, this is another example of extreme experimentation by a band mostly known for alt-rock. Some of the lyrics are a bit cheesy though, but if you're actually talking about the lyrics, well yea, they do suck compared to Oldplay lyrics. Amazing Day - Not really "pop", but just a little bit cheesy. Up&Up - Yeah, sorry. Not mainstreap pop trash. Two guitar solo's, can't beat that. Great lyrics, great everything, EXCEPT the electronic drums take away from it, and the production sucks. As you can see, this is definetely Coldplay's most poppy album thus far but honestly, open up your ears! This is NOT mainstream pop trash, it's a trillion light years from that. It has a few cheesi-er tracks, and is definetely no where near AROBTTH but the point is, Coldplay hasn't turned mainstream pop. Sure, Chris Martin is interested in trash at the moment but that's where it ends. That'll have changed by LP8 I'm sure. I think this will be their last "pop" album so as to speak. I don't believe how many people have no eyes. There can't be a way that that many people liked your post after reading that last statement. Although, the rest of your post is correct. Really? Now you're focusing on the NEGATIVES? That's why you're not looking at Coldplay as making good music anymore. You're focusing on the bad lyrics. There's about 1000 other lyrics on the album you could be focusing on. And you choose THOSE. Maybe look at the other songs for a change. Those are TWO. FREAKING. LYRICS. Get OVER IT. And listen to the OTHER lyrics in the album. Look, there's bad lyrics in every Coldplay album. This time is no different, except it's more obvious. Excuse me? MX was their best tour, they just got better.
23. I have to agree. It is my favorite album closer. They just NAILED that one. It's simply perfect. There's simply no better way to close an album. The only problem I find is that in the high notes between the first part and the second part, there was no need for that REALLY high note to play right around when the guitar started. But other than that, perfect. The part of the song that plays from 3:10 on is arguably one of the most beautiful part of a song EVER created. Up With The Birds, from 3:10 on, is easily Coldplay's best work. And, it's probably one of the best, if not THE best part of ANY song EVER made in all of history. The outro makes me cry every time. The "YEAHHHHHH" than it fades into the piano outro... there's simply no piece of music that's better.
24. Okay, this post totally opened me up and only recently while listening to White Shadows have I noticed the electric guitar that's in the background, but if you listen extremely closely there's actually an ACOUSTIC guitar in there too. Holy.... did they ever put a lot of stuff into these X&Y songs. Every time you listen to it, there's so many layers that you just hear it differently, and discover new layers, even if it's through the same headphones/speakers. But you can hear it better through different headphones/speakers. Every headphones/speakers play these songs differently and it almost seems like they put this infinite amount of layers because I always keep hearing new ones although it's probably the way that the audio device plays some layers back that makes them sound new :P. But honestly if your theory is correct Coldplay has to be the most subtle band I ever freaking knew. Like honestly there is NO other band/artist out there who'd be willing to fit in a secret message in a track like this. X&Y was also arguably their peak of sneaking in the most meaningful messages so subtly (which I find absolutely hilarious because the lyrics actually kind of hint that there is MUCH more to the order of the tracklisting and some of the song's layers, and other stuff in the album than you may think).
